I just finished watching the PBS series "Superheroes: The Never-ending Battle". Anybody else see this? I thought it was really good. Anybody even slightly interested in the history of comics would enjoy it. It's told by creators so yeah, there's some biased opinion, but it's more about character history and cultural influences of comics and not so much about creators and the industry. Definitely worth watching.

This scares me a bit. I bought them very recently and just about completed re-reading volume 1. Was planning to start volume 2 this weekend.
I've borrowed them from my library a few times and they seemed to hold up ok. Maybe the library got them fixed/rebound.
Give it 5 Issues and it will be canceled. Sucks for me, because I hoped to get the whole Hawkeye Run with the Hawkeye by Fraction Omnibus.

Hm. Perhaps I have the original printings for Volumes 1 & 2, then. They're on my list of "things I'd like to replace but would rather spend the money on new things."
But Volumes 3 and 4 and 5 have all been wonderful - no issues with gutter loss or gaps, or of the binding separating from the spine or whatever like the first two.
Not as thick as The Colossal Conan, but about as tall / wide iirc.

Not sure, I don't have either of those. Also, do you mean thickness? If so, the Absolute Sandmans are definitely nowhere near as thick as those other two omnibi, and that's why there are 4 main-series Absolute Sandmans.
Honestly, the two Sandman omnibi are so damn nice, I'd almost rather have those than the Absolutes.

Thanks. When I see a reasonably priced one I will maybe give it a try. Absolute Editions are IMO far, far to expensive compared to Marvel Oversized Hardcovers or Omnibusses. I would rather have them sized down and in a ordinary bookcase but with far more content.

I don't support Wood anymore simply because aside from the fact that he isn't currently writing anything I read, he's just not a very compelling writer anymore. He definitely had some good books back in the day. Channel Zero, Local, and DMZ were all great. But now, he's rather mediocre.
Hmm perhaps he did have some good books back in the day then, but I still can't do it. I want the man away from Marvel and DC, along with Nocenti unless she agrees to just be an editor again.

Well, the thing the books I mentioned all have in common is that they aren't superhero books. Maybe the more realistic things are what he excels at. The Massive was fairly good as well, but I just lost interest after the plot kind of floundered for a while.
Still far to small for me. Digital Comics should be at least consumed in the same size as physical ones come.
