That
Gate Lord
on Venus was a bit of a PITA.

Need to go back and do the strike on the moon still, though... I skipped over it after joining an in-progress run at (presumably) the last boss. It didn't go well.

What I don't get is why doesn't the devil walker in the first strike move?!

It's a tank with legs but it's stationary for the entire fight and only spins in circles. There is an entire open level in front of it but the thing just sits there and let's itself get shot. It's such a wasted opportunity for a cool fight.

It has no need to move. It can still one shot you from across the map. :P

Love some of the game levels. It really is horde mode though lol but damm it I am having a blast. I will have to join a fireteam tomorrow. :)

Same, it's because we expected more from the full release, we didn't realise the story missions of using a ghost and then defending against waves was going to be the majority of the game, or that strikes would have bullet sponge bosses who have very little in way of tactics.

All of that was present in the Alpha and Beta.

Done for the day. Reached level 10. I might collect all the earth gold chests tomorrow with my buddies we'll see. Had some fun with gaffers in Crucible. We got our asses kicked in regular team deathmatch because we didn't know how to communicate, but went back to Control and won all of the matches lol, communication is key in those.

Or literally was told to deliver the lines as deadpan as possible

This game is so disappointing - why did I enjoy the alpha and beta and hate this release?

The game still didn't reach me but I guess the disappointment stems from people(me included) expecting set pieces and level design that of a Halo game yet it seems we won't be getting any here not even vehicular or aerial combat. Basically, the people who played the beta basically went through what the game is about and it seems to be that is all there is to it.

I think people should approach the game in the manner of " I just want to team up, take down mobs, gather loot, grind and have the best of everything in terms of equipment as much as I can. " then maybe it would be better but still, It's hard to see that this is Bungie so it is weird not to see that Halo awesomeness in Destiny.

To me, this will be something good to hold me off until the other games in October release and then in November, Halo Collection. Can't wait.

That would be gorgeous IF I COULD LITERALLY FIND A SINGLE PERSON IN STORY MISSIONS AT ALL

I had NO problems finding people in the alpha OR the beta, but as of level 7 I have solo'd this game. This is so fucking lame.

I'm interested to see how this reviews.

GB quick look and podcast basically implies the game has no depth at all.

Jeff sounds like he really wanted to like it.

Anyone else having a hard time getting in games with friends on xbox one? I don't usually play with friends but for this one thought I would go through it with some people. We do the party thing in the xbox OS but the game does not show us together or give the option in game for us to be together. I thought in the beta it showed us 2 gamertags together on the ship screen and we were linked but it is either not working or I am to dumb to get it going.

Yeah? I just beat it no problem. Were you level 13? So far the devil walker is by far the worst boss battle in the game. Funny that they put it in the alpha and beta.

So yeah I noticed there are some enemies in some certain areas with the "???" thing on them and they seem to be immune to my attacks. What gives? Is there something Bungie doesn't want me to find or something?

Also I'm level 13 and I just finished the first mission on Venus. I feel like I'm getting really close to hitting that content end wall and I've only had this game for about 12 hours. I really hope that's not the case. I just hope there's good PvE end-game content because the PvP really doesn't interest me at all, nor do I think it's very good

Played my first set of crucible matches. Fun stuff. I don't think I want to go back to SP Dinklage featuring the shitty quests.

Yeah, his tone is just all over the place. I'm not digging the story stuff so far.

Going by the impressions in this thread, the story is non existent which is a shame unless you are up for reading tons of shit.

You sound like an unhappy person. Go play games you enjoy^^

Hey friend, glad you think you know me, let me clue you in

Halo 3 - best game I've ever played. Halo 4 - loved it.

Destiny Alpha - great! Great display of what the future could be. A nice tease.

Destiny Beta - Nice. You guys are polishing this. Expecting something impressive from the people who brought us Halo 1, 2, and 3.

Destiny - man, you guys really tweaked this to be MMO. Not enough enemies, enemies are too difficult, poor matchmaking.. you name it.

Try playing games that aren't ripping you off in a criminal manner.

Jeez, damn. Sorry to hear that well, if I had the game I would have played with you but it'll probably reach me by next week since I live far lol. Hope you find someone to play with because I heard the game sucks hard if you're playing it solo.

Well I'm enjoying the game. I will agree that the story seems light on content. I think bungie was thinking long term maybe and forgot that you have to hook people right off the bat. I am enjoying what there is though and it's keeping me damn interested. It's just that there seems to be so little of it. To go along with this I feel the missions should be longer. They all seem so short.

I'll also agree the loot system needs improvement. Bosses need to have guaranteed loot. Makes fighting them so unfulfilling as a result. Also yea. I still even now don't like having to go to orbit between areas. I understand why it's done. It's obviously done to mask the matchmaking but I'd actually rather sit on the screen with a matching message or even just do the flight sequence directly between the locations. At least that would cut down on the clunky feeling of that. Also yea I still feel glimmer is way too rare. I think Beta was about right. As it is there is so little of it now while things are still pretty expensive considering how little you get.

Overall so far I'd have to say I'm glad I bought the game and it's without a doubt going to take up a ton of my time. But I can't help but wonder if the game could have benefited from being a more traditional game. I'm talking a single player with dedicated levels and then the rest of the stuff as other modes. This would have possibly allowed offline play and maybe been a benefit to the campaign missions.

That said again I do love the game though and do see myself putting just as much time into it as I have past Bungie games. I've always said I love their games but I've never in my life found the perfect game. This won't be the first.

This is based off about 8 hours of play so far. Maybe when I finish up campaign this weekend I'll post more in depth thoughts both good and bad. There is a lot of good here too that I didn't even touch on.

Any reason why I'm not earning any crucible marks? From what I remember, in the beta you would earn one for at least winning, possibly for playing a match as well.

Being in the city makes me miss PSO and being able to actually talk to random people and using emotes you created. It just feels lifeless.

It feels like Call of Duty in space. There's no strategy other than shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot... with some reloading and ducking for cover to regenerate health thrown in.

That's how I feel.
Lovely graphics engine.
Enjoyed the alpha! pre-ordered!
got worried when I heard the alpha was a large chunk of the game.

So, we're in this sci-fi world, allowing all kinds of weapons -- and we're in an 80s shooting gallery? Shoot in head or shoot anywhere else. Toss one grenade once in a while after the cool down does its thing. Hide behind impervious furniture.

The world is so damn fixed. You have this victorious little bit of dialog next to some ancient monitors and there is a cool skeleton sitting in the chair. Shoot it out of curiosity and .. nothing. It is made of the same stuff as the blast barrier you hid behind 10 minutes ago. Diablo 3 has more environmental destruction. By far. Because at least it has traps.

Enemies hide behind cover (any cover will do - it is all the same) you hide behind cover. Not even low cover and high cover options. Everything is high cover. No choking smoke or flash grenades, no mortars, no screen guided missiles, no cover busting weapons, no booby traps, no trip wires to place, no advanced movement sensors to upgrade to.

You go to the moon. The moon! but ... it sounds the same as the earth. Apparently it has an atmosphere now to transmit sound (along with a giant unexplained scar on it) and the same 1g gravity.

Such a shame because it is a nice engine, solid performance.

Did Bungie put 90% of their work into the engine and level art, and 10% into the game mechanics? or are they going to sell us the full vision in $40 DLC pieces?

That's what I mean, I didn't realise the whole game was going to be that :P.

So it's partly your fault :P. We would all love a perfect game (it would stop us moaning for one) but that is never going to happen. It's why I try not to get too excited for a game. It just leads you to feel down when it turns out to be the same as the beta etc.

I'm having more than enough fun with it. Granted there are a LOT of issues with the game that can and probably will be solved with the next title if not updates/DLC. We'll see.

It is literally terrible.

I can't believe the beta was so easy to play with people and now it's a wasteland.

Fuck me for buying into the hype. Fuck me for believing alpha & beta.. fuck me for pre-anythinging.

I'm done. Games will be bought 3-4 months delayed. Thanks, Bungie.

Woo hoo! Had a great end to my first day. Was grabbing gold chests on the moon to get money to buy a sweet spaceship. Exploring the Hive stuff trying to find the chests was pertty fun, but you can really feel the lack of a map in those areas. Basically impossible to figure out where you are in those caves. The last chest yielded a rare cloak so I'm finally a true Hunter. Interestingly in-game it is mostly white but on Bungie.net it is much darker. I'd prefer the Bnet version, probably, but whatever. Sweet cloak is sweet. You can also view my super MMO-ey mismatched clown pants.

Then I went back to the tower and one of my engrams spit out a rare rocket launcher. Then I bought a sweet spaceship and am cruising in style. I enjoy going into Crucible and being the only one with a non-default ship way too much.

It'd be cool if bosses had a pool of equipment to drop unique to them that matched their asthetics :/ it'd give people more of a reason to do repeated strikes: pick up a full armor set, weapon set, etc.

So yeah I noticed there are some enemies in some certain areas with the "???" thing on them and they seem to be immune to my attacks. What gives? Is there something Bungie doesn't want me to find or something?

They are enemies that are much higher than your level. The immunity is for whatever reason Bungie decided, I'd rather be able to chip away a sliver of their health and maybe take a challenge rather than just be straight up denied them till I am at a more reasonable level.

Yeah? I just beat it no problem. Were you level 13? So far the devil walker is by far the worst boss battle in the game. Funny that they put it in the alpha and beta.

Think I was level 11, maybe 12. That might have been part of it, along with being the relatively squishy Warlock. Played with a friend who was level 12 or 13 Titan.

Funny, though - I didn't have any problem with the Devil Walker. Maybe I'm just used to it from alpha and Beta, though.

Noob question but how do I get access to the other game modes like Crucible, Strike missions, and Raid? When I try to set the destination (when I'm in my ship) all I see is the Earth.

Ok so I asked this last page, and I got some vague replies...

I had a 2-man fireteam in Destiny and neither one of us could hear each other... we were definitely both on the fireteam, but nothing...

When I asked last page, someone said to press R3, which I just did and all it does is say press "Options", so I do and I see my fireteam member and then all I got is a Mute Option, and promote or kick option.

When he spoke, I could hear him just fine, and when I asked him what headphones he was using, he said they were the old Sony pulse headset from the PS3 days...

Could it be that you need a certain headset and mic to speak to other players via a fire team??
