Any ideas yet how many hours of content there is in this game? And I'm assuming after you do the story/extra stuff you just PVP like a regular shooter?

Apologies if ignorant, haven't followed it much.

This game has lived up to the hype for me. I just wish my best friend would buy a PS4 already, dude makes good bank but can't break away from the PC/PS3/360. I am sending him a copy of Destiny tomorrow to try and guilt him into it.

Have you tried this already? Is it still a viable farming method after the heavy nerf from the 1.01 patch?

Very shitty for Gillmer+, but in return you make out like a bandit on materials
Spinmetal + Gear + Engrams does help out a fuck ton

The materials are the key part, certain chest drop +8 spinmetals
More you stockpile, the more you can trade for good Vanguard/Crucible marks or save up for weapon upgrades

i keep getting the Marrionberry error

and my router is so old I don't know how to access it online.

bummer of a night. Time to get get my fill on twitch

its viable - but severely hampered in that the glimmer per chest went from 100-150 to 40-55 on average BUT those chests offer materials now so there's a bit of trade off in it.

i wouldn't even say its the best way to make money anymore. but if you know a good spot and have all the material spawns memorized... its definitely the best way to farm both at the same time. at least for now imo
About 10 are blue :).

i call bullshit

Where the hell are all the treasure chests that randomly respawned? Are they gone forever? Are silver and golden chests the only things left?

Exactly, I mean the writing was on the wall from the beta with what this game was going to be. That is why I am perfectly happy with it. I question a lot of these people who are complaining if they even played the beta or even the alpha.

That isn't an excuse to throw people's complaints out the window. Maybe people felt more would be offered as the game progressed in the full version?

I mean, look at the pedigree and try saying with a straight face that the handling of the narrative and level structure in Destiny isn't disappointing. That disappointment will vary from person to person, to excusable due to the rest of the game's features to being a glaring factor for others.

If you make it that far out, could you let me know if you see this:

Anyone know if the
random hive and fallen mass battle
still happens in Old Russia?

Has the Destiny Gold headset sound set-up already been released? If so, where do I go to download it? I got the companion app.

It's in there

Huge ass Destiny logo with New splashed on it

Headset companion App, choose headset, pick destiny, have wire plugged into headset, Upload, now "2" will be your Destiny setting

You question people for expecting more out of a game.

Your post is questionable.

yikes metacritic scores are starting to look bad.

ps4 metacritic = 5.8

xbone metacritic = 4.7

Is the game really this horrible? Don't know if I should but it now....

I wouldn't judge the game by "user" reviews on metacritic. It is usually an immature battle of who can submit 10 scores vs who can submit 0 scores. Scoring any game a 0 is about as absurd as it gets. 10 is pretty unrealistic also.

I am just going by the facts. In the beta, I didn't like how boss battles felt like they were endless 30 minute/1 hour battles. I also didn't like how bosses and enemies felt like they were practically invincible and completely overpowered. I was even more disappointed to hear that these issues I had with the beta carried over to the final game. That alone has made me think twice about picking it up. Hopefully there will be a patch to tone done the boss battles a tad. I don't want to shoot a boss in the face for 45 minutes straight, only to die in the very last minute and have to start over.
I am sure the game has good points, so I am just going to wait and see if the good outweighs the bad. It's sort of discouraging the campaign can be blown through so quickly though.

Not sure, but I think I played this game out in alpha/beta.

Not seeing anyone for shit at level 9 doing public - PS4 is DMZ'd

Honestly, this game blows without teams. Severely disappointed compared to beta. Beta had teammates in random pub matchmaking - release has none. Fucking lame.

Are the save files stored on the server? In other words, can I play on PS4 and then pick up on PS3 in the other room with the same save file?

woof, averaging over a 5.0 KDR in crucible

thanks, beta access

sure others have said it but if you like using the assault rifles dont delete the first one you get, its outstanding for standard crucible

Awesome, thanks guys. I did realize from the chests that I have found along the way that they seem to always drop materials or gear, which I like.

Are there any other "pro-tips" you guys recommend? I am stock-piling green Engrams and plan to probably decrypt them at around Level 12 or so, good idea or should I wait more?

Also, Bounties are obviously an incredible way to level up your character and weapons/gear. Anything else I am missing?

I'd wait FOR SURE.

This game is basically the beginnings of WoW in a Halo (with less interesting combat scenarios) combat suit.

Nope, I have found around 20 chests just on Old Russian, silver, gold and like a dark green colour.

K, I'm logging in to Destiny PS4, 2 people can join me and see how the loop works, please have mics!

First 2 to join or invite me, I'll show ya!

The Silent Cartographer, Assault on the Control Room, Delta Halo, Tsavo Highway, The Ark, The Covenant... Bungie has created some of the most amazing levels in the FPS genre. So, what the fuck happened? The level design is so bad in this game...

The gameplay design leaves a lot to be desired too. All the cool mechanics that were present in the Halo games (plasma to break shields + headshot, shooting a jackal in the hand to stun them + headshot, vehicle boarding, disabling vehicles with the EMP from the PP...) have all been replaced with some incredibly generic mechanics. Basically all the enemies are bullet sponges, and the only interesting thing you can do is going for headshots to do more damage. Dull.

And BTW, why the hell can't we skip the cutscenes? Bungie please...

Exactly my feelings - and I'm only level 4.

I didn't play the alpha or beta, but it's Bungie - so I knew it'd be good. I love Halo 1 and Halo 2. Three was okay. Reach sucked (except for Invasion). But I knew this is what they've wanted to do, but couldn't till now.

It feels like Call of Duty in space. There's no strategy other than shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot... with some reloading and ducking for cover to regenerate health thrown in.

I'll give it more time - I've only played like 2 hours. So it hasn't been given a fair shake - I hope my opinion changes.

How do I just play PvP? Isn't there some time of Halo-esque deathmatch somewhere?

"This place...is AMAZING"

Dinklage is awesome with the ghost edition. Best CE toy by far.

I am taking my time and admiring the gorgeous scenery, I have a feeling people are rushing through content esp after playing the beta. But take your time.

So people are hitting the level cap on launch day? Interested to see people's thoughts on Destiny a week or two from now.

What I don't get is why doesn't the devil walker in the first strike move?!

It's a tank with legs but it's stationary for the entire fight and only spins in circles. There is an entire open level in front of it but the thing just sits there and let's itself get shot. It's such a wasted opportunity for a cool fight.

Ahh, finally got to play after UPS decided to take full advantage of Amazon's guaranteed by 8pm promise... after looking outside every 15 minutes like a junkie waiting for their dealer I gave up at 7 and watched Big Brother. UPS never knocks so I checked at 8, prepared to email Amazon and there it was :)

LE packaging is neat, all contents are nice quality and smell good. Game was up and running in 20-30 minutes, no connection issues which was pleasant. Game is, well, exactly like I remember heh! Played mission 3 with Kaikken (sp?) and another buddy, thanks for the carry lol! I'm tired and want to play more, just glad the wait is over, and hope to catch more GAFfers out and about the galaxy :)

I must've downloaded the wrong companion app then, because all it says is Shooter, Fighting, Game 1, Horror, etc...

edit: nvm there was an update lol

Didn't get much play in. Just hit lvl 5 with my Titan. The melee is strong. :D Most of my other time was playing around with the PS4 since it's my first time with the system. What a sexy beast it is.

I do remember seeing people a lot in beta through my leveling. Haven't seen a single person live. Hmm. Probably early levels.

Well 20 was always going to be easily gotten
People that are experienced from playing the BETA for 40+ hours figured a lot of stuff

It's what you do after 20 were the Grind kicks in

Nope, not you - I haven't seen a soul since the game released.

This is seriously concerning and disappointing.

This game is pretty awesome.

Still kinda wish it was easier to socialize with people in the hub. No one ever accepts my fireteam invites... :(

How do we join the xb1 GAF clan? Is it from within the game?

Or literally was told to deliver the lines as deadpan as possible

This game is so disappointing - why did I enjoy the alpha and beta and hate this release?

Same, it's because we expected more from the full release, we didn't realise the story missions of using a ghost and then defending against waves was going to be the majority of the game, or that strikes would have bullet sponge bosses who have very little in way of tactics.

Played my first set of crucible matches. Fun stuff. I don't think I want to go back to SP Dinklage featuring the shitty quests.
Going by the beta it's as if he was recording his lines while he was laying on his bed, getting ready to sleep.
Yeah, his tone is just all over the place. I'm not digging the story stuff so far.

And there's the Vault of Glass Raid that won't even unlock until the 16th. Probably going to take at least the end of the month or when some other stuff is coming out in order to get the best impressions if you're looking in regards to the whole game and without the release madness.
