Hey friend, glad you think you know me, let me clue you in

Halo 3 - best game I've ever played. Halo 4 - loved it.

Destiny Alpha - great! Great display of what the future could be. A nice tease.

Destiny Beta - Nice. You guys are polishing this. Expecting something impressive from the people who brought us Halo 1, 2, and 3.

Destiny - man, you guys really tweaked this to be MMO. Not enough enemies, enemies are too difficult, poor matchmaking.. you name it.

Try playing games that aren't ripping you off in a criminal manner.
How is Destiny ripping people off in a criminal manner?

Ok so I asked this last page, and I got some vague replies...

I had a 2-man fireteam in Destiny and neither one of us could hear each other... we were definitely both on the fireteam, but nothing...

When I asked last page, someone said to press R3, which I just did and all it does is say press "Options", so I do and I see my fireteam member and then all I got is a Mute Option, and promote or kick option.

When he spoke, I could hear him just fine, and when I asked him what headphones he was using, he said they were the old Sony pulse headset from the PS3 days...

Could it be that you need a certain headset and mic to speak to other players via a fire team??

We solved it by using party chat

Well just hit level 11 and did all the activites on the Moon...except I haven't tried Summoning Pits.

I'm gonna try with randoms I guess, here goes nothing.

i feel like every game i play with randoms bungie is punishing me for not having enough friends

Being in the city makes me miss PSO and being able to actually talk to random people and using emotes you created. It just feels lifeless.

Yeah I've been getting some PSO vibes as well from it... And then I wished I was kind of playing PSO instead.

First time in a while I've had this sort of problem. I really like Destiny. It's a really good game. Art direction is fantastic, it visually looks really impressive, and the gunplay is solid. It kept my attention for like 7-8 hours today so they're doing SOMETHING right. The game is extremely polished.

But at the same time it feels like there's really significant parts missing. And you're right when parts of the game just feel kinda 'lifeless'. Like the loot system still kinda sucks, the missions are all pretty much exactly the same, and the game has a really potentially interesting setting for lore and to hold a good story but it's all non-existent in-game and is basically being told by fucking virtual trading cards.

I'm getting the vibe that I'll really be into this game for 2 weeks, and then I'll fuck off to Theaterhythm, Hyrule Warriors and Persona 4 Ultimax in the next few weeks. Plus there's that interesting Battlefield 4 Final Stand expansion coming up. I shouldn't be thinking this way especially after I JUST bought Destiny but that''s also my fault for having too many games to look forward to.

At the very least, I don't think I regret buying Destiny... For now at least. I'm glad I didn't drop money on that season pass stuff though in advance because fuck that.

How is Destiny ripping people off in a criminal manner?

Level cap attainable within 24 hrs

Alpha and beta having drastically different enemy spawns significantly affecting the progression

Lack of spawns artificially inhibiting progression

Bullshit nonsense lack of pub players compared to alpha/beta

The game is boring as butts

It'd be cool if bosses had a pool of equipment to drop unique to them that matched their asthetics :/ it'd give people more of a reason to do repeated strikes: pick up a full armor set, weapon set, etc.

I agree. I think That would actually be awesome as hell. If they're going to do the whole loot thing then do it. Embrace it. Have bosses and strikes have certain pieces of gear.

The Silent Cartographer, Assault on the Control Room, Delta Halo, Tsavo Highway, The Ark, The Covenant... Bungie has created some of the most amazing levels in the FPS genre. So, what the fuck happened? The level design is so bad in this game...

The gameplay design leaves a lot to be desired too. All the cool mechanics that were present in the Halo games (plasma to break shields + headshot, shooting a jackal in the hand to stun them + headshot, vehicle boarding, disabling vehicles with the EMP from the PP...) have all been replaced with some incredibly generic mechanics. Basically all the enemies are bullet sponges, and the only interesting thing you can do is going for headshots to do more damage. Dull.

And BTW, why the hell can't we skip the cutscenes? Bungie please...

God I need to play Halo again; those levels are amazing. Its perplexing that Destiny has nothing near those levels.
They stripped down Halo to its bare mechanics and it just isnt very fun.

If you guys roll a new character, just book it.

dont fight anything you will auto hit level 2 once you enter the building with the ship. Fight the one room and start the intro to the tower.

lolz

Noob question but how do I get access to the other game modes like Crucible, Strike missions, and Raid? When I try to set the destination (when I'm in my ship) all I see is the Earth.

Play some more. Crucible unlocks at 5, Strike playlists at 16 and the Raid is gonna be added next week. If you mean regular strikes the Earth one should be there after 2 or 3 missions.

So it's partly your fault :P. We would all love a perfect game (it would stop us moaning for one) but that is never going to happen. It's why I try not to get too excited for a game. It just leads you to feel down when it turns out to be the same as the beta etc.

Exactly, I put too much faith in Bungie and should of held off for opinions before spending so much on the Digi Guardian edition. Wouldn't of been as bad if it was the retail version, could just sell it as "like new" on ebay or something : / hmph.

Lesson learned.

I played alpha and beta and am working my way through the missions again, still enjoying the game greatly.

I've had to rework some of my hunter strategies for the upped difficulty and I'm still fining it enjoyable to just explore.

10 hour campaign and at least 20-30 hours co-op and multiplayer should ensure I get enough $$$ out of this.

Damn, one really bad Crucible match sent my KD ratio from 2 to 0.5. Ouch. I should stop hitting their bullets with my face so much.

Since everyone is complaining about mission variety, is like to know what kind of missions you think should be in it?
Cause it's a FPS, it's gonna have waves and protect missions.

I wish there was a way to have the missions just always be 2 levels higher than you. Those are fun challenges. Now I don't want to do Crucible or Patrol to keep the missions hard.

Then I went back to the tower and one of my engrams spit out a rare rocket launcher. Then I bought a sweet spaceship and am cruising in style. I enjoy going into Crucible and being the only one with a non-default ship way too much.

NA East 7 represent :3 Nice ship.
Any reason why I'm not earning any crucible marks? From what I remember, in the beta you would earn one for at least winning, possibly for playing a match as well.
You need to be a certain level to start earning them, I can't remember what it was.
Play more bullshit single player story.
He's just asking for information. It's not "single player" anyway, you can certainly do these with a fireteam and it'll be more enjoyable.

The Crucible unlocks at lvl 5, and is actually quite fun and great xp.
The first Strike is at level 8.
The only Raid is the Vault of Glass, requires level 26, and doesn't even unlock until the 16th, and the more I play the more I feel like all impressions of this game are ultimately a bit incomplete until then.

In terms of just seeing Earth, more locations open as you progress through the story missions.

It would awesome if they would simply turn on voice chat in the city hub.
(make it so that you can only hear people within a certain radius to avoid everyone talking at once)
Communicating with fellow players shouldn't be such a hassle.

Oh SHIT, the hive is assaulting our main air base. DEFEND IT WITH THESE WEAPONS! (rockets, miniguns, turrets, ghosts, etc.)

Naw, instead it's "don't die because our matchmaking doesn't exist and can't match you with someone else level 7 to complete this mission so please camp and snipe. I know you love that, right?"

No, I FUCKING DON'T.

Man I feel like I'm the only one here who likes this game...

Nah I'm pretty sure a lot of people do. It's just... God it's just really conflicting. The idea of a real MMOFPS is facinating. As much as I like Planetside 2, I don't find the gunplay that game really good at all but the scale is almost awe-inspiring at times.

Then there's Destiny, which feels like an MMOFPS but it has actual solid gunplay... But doesn't have the scale of what an MMOFPS would even be...? I guess?

Im glad this game was called Destiny: Halo Edition

I wanna get an XB1 Fireteam going. I'm down for anything, just need to grind a little. Gamertag = kittens dx!

Think about it more. I emplore you to come back tomorrow with a theory of why it feels less than whole.

Just wondering, are Kings Watch or Seraphims vault accessible in the game?
It looks like after you leave earth there's no reason to go back to it afterwards, and there are no other missions pertaining to it

It'd be disappointing if it was cut content despite being fully fleshed out in the beta, Kings Watch atleast. .

I hope you are joking. Did you expect them to release anything but what you played in the beta?

Story was pretty background for quite a while but just started the Venus missions and am getting more pulled in now.

Kinda glad to be off the moon though. Hellmouth had the majority of content there and that's enough corridors for me for a while lol.
