Wow I did this stupid thing with a sword for a while and when I though it was over even more bosses spawned.

I am sorry but I have better things to do with my time. This game is fucking horrible as is. Never even bothering with it again unless Bungie issues a massive apology and update. This may be the worst flop ever.

One thing that bothered me in the beta and still bothers me now: the Shipwright's character model is atrocious. Why, Bungie? I find it hard to believe that a buttload of playtesters didn't raise an eyebrow at her.

I think you may be overreacting a tad.

Looking at everyone's gear makes me sad. I jumped to crucible as soon as i reached level 6 and my gear sucks. I guess all the good loot is in the story missions? I haven't really had any good drops in PVP

If you only try and get gear through PvP, your gear will probably suck until you hit level 20 and get all that exclusive PvP gear.

Can anyone confirm if engrams get mailed to you like in the beta? One of them is in an unreachable area ;_; makes me sad

I'm pretty sure I got one mailed to me earlier.

I just did that not too long ago with some friends. It was a nice fight (we did it on the upped difficulty) What was wrong with it exactly?

I thought bungie said this is a 10 year old game in the making like it's gonna last 10 years? Hence level cap is 26 and stuff is left out. 60 bucks for a game that will last a long time seems good in my eyes. I'm digging the game.
That's what they said about the IP, don't for a second think you only need to buy destiny 1 and be set for the next 10 years. The 10 year Span is for all main destiny sequels and dlc.

This game is way harder than the beta and I'm happy for it. Our fire team must have been wiped some six times before we made it through the first strike mission - though our group was two level 5s and a level 11 - made things interesting.

There is no story whatsoever as far as I can tell - light good, darkness bad, kill everything and empty their wallets, but that's fine I guess. Bungie just doesn't seem to have it in them to tell a story.

Was fun playing with you guys. Level up soon so that we can take on the heroic level 22 version of it ;)

PVP is just too addicting for me at the moment. Cant seem to stop playing it (just ended a 6 hour session). I'm on level 12 right now so I guess i'll reach level 20 in 5-6 more hours if i keep playing in the crucible.

I had to look this up and wow:

Actually, since the weapons in Destiny are hitscan, Halo weapons feel more "real bullet" because they use actual projectiles.
Reach_needler.gif

lol @ that article, Maybe the real story starts in the endgame ;)

and regarding the weapons, this makes a whole lot of sense as to why this feels so fundamentally different to halo... (the gif sooo makes we want to play halo btw. mcc can't come soon enough)

I have a pretty high threshold. If I am calling it quits this early, wow, Bungie needs to address these problems right away.

If you're talking about the mission I think you're talking about,
use the sword on less harmful enemies, then drop it and go ham with your regular and special weapons. The sword will automatically spawn directly (after dropping it) in the middle where you first picked it up. Rinse and repeat. Do not use the sword only on the 'bosses', you'll die before you know it.

You must have a pretty damn high threshold if you're calling this game fucking horrible and possibly the biggest flop ever.

Me and all my friends are having a hell of a lot of fun with it. I'm not denying there's a lot of stuff that could be improved especially in regards to mission structure, but the base gameplay is amazing.

Just got to level 20. I think the game is pretty decent so far.

The story was.. not good. Just really boring. Didn't keep my attention longer than a couple missions.
There were some great missions. But there were a lot of really boring and repetitive missions.
The worlds, although beautifully crafted, felt empty of diverse gameplay content.

The end game looting is exciting. Just got my first legendary weapon and I want to get more.

The quality of Strike missions varies.. Some of them have challenging boss fights, which are fun. Others have bullet sponge bosses, boring.

PVP feels a lot like COD multiplayer, but with a lot less depth. Hopefully it remains entertaining. Perhaps Iron Banner and unlocking more game modes will help.

That one moon mission makes me wish there were more types of weapons, but hopefully the legendary/PVP weapons mix it up a bit.
I enjoyed the ability to improve your guns with various modifications, kept things interesting low-mid levels where the weapons weren't very diverse.

The art, tech, polish, character movement and gunplay all look/feel really well done.

That's all I got right now, excited to explore more of the end game tomorrow.

Finally got it in my hands this morning, but couldn't actually play it until a few hours ago. The wait was agonizing!

My Ghost edition was a little banged up. The box had a little tear in one of the edges, which someone from EB apparently decided to seal up with one of those clear round stickers they love so much. Ugh. Also, my steelbook has a little scratch on the front where the paint has peeled away a bit. Disappointing. I had a lot of fun looking at and reading through all the goodies, but I wish it had been in better condition. Definitely going with Amazon next time so I can get a partial refund if something like this happens again.

I'm still on the content I played in the beta, but it feels so good to be in this world again. I think I'm going to take it slow and savor it. I've been waiting so long, I don't want to plow through it in a day.

I think I'm going to avoid forums and whatnot for a bit. With the type of game it is, and all the positivity throughout the alpha and the beta, I was looking forward to talking about it, but all the negativity is bumming me out. I want to make up my own mind about it, so I'm probably going to check out until I've at least cleared the story content.

Am I crazy?

I love Destiny. Me and my buddies haven't had this kind of coop fun since.. Well since Halo.

Game is amazing! Loved the alpha, loved
The beta.

I bought a PS4 for this game and couldn't be happier.

I must be old and crazy.. Because most of the people around here seem to hate it.

Can I be hyped with you too?

Holy shit that level 8 strike was boring. Was expecting to at least have some specific mechanics to the bosses etc but nope, just bullet sponges. No loot either. Starting to share the same sentiments as a lot of the downers in this thread.

Least I am getting slightly better at PvP, finding that now more enjoyable then the story.

Yes so this means tons of new content for years to come?
I think for what we got was alot there is legit like 12 things to do in this game.
I was surprised in how fun the pvp is.

Can't believe this still gets repeated wrong. Destiny (the IP) is a ten year adventure for Bungie. Just like they did Halo for ten years. During those ten years they will release a new numbered entry every three years and addons to the previous games in the years between games. Destiny (or call it Destiny 1) is not a ten year game.

You have posted you dislike of the game several times now, but continue to update us. Why are you still playing if you dislike it this much? Please, for your own sake, play something you do like than.

And it already outsold Titan Fall and Watch Dogs in one day so we will get a sequel. Hope it lives up to your expectations.

Nah, you're not crazy. People lvled their Destiny hype from hype to unreal expectations. That's the main issue. To me, it's a game I'm gonna be playing till next Destiny/Halo etc.

+ I'm 30, does that make me old? :E

Finally going to be able to sit down and play this game tonight.

Been listening to the Bombcast today though, Jeff did not sound super enthused.

I spent around 15-20 hours in the beta, and I'm kind of dreading having to do that stuff again first up.

After having played the game after Beta, what strikes me as disappointing is the presentation of the story, especially lack of supporting cast. Now I never played Halo, but I cannot believe that apart from Master Chief and Cortana there were no other noteworthy NPCs in the game.

Destiny positions itself like an MMO shooter with shared locations/hubs but Bungie in my opinion forgot to take some MMO staples which would enrich the gameplay and the world.

For instance, the Earth Cosmodrome really feels like an arbitrary hub you get thrown into. It's a playground with respawning mobs and it shows. In normal MMOs you ususally get a quest hub: a city or settlement with rudimentary NPCs who give you quests. In Destiny you have to look for beacons, which add no flavor to the game and make the world look empty. Was it so hard to create a small outpost with a few NPCs where you land when you go on a free roam? It would be so awesome, add some life into the place and create interesting characters.

Right now, even with other players jumping in my game, I feel very much alone. Unless you run a party of 3 with headphones, the whole experience is that of going around killing respawning mobs. No NPCs, little exposition, no effect on the world.

What is even worse, because story missions take place in this shared space, there's no object permanency to anything. All you do is ask your Ghost to scan things and wait for Dinkalge-voice to pour exposition on you. Oh there's an AI! Oh, these are the new monster types!
That wizard came from the moon!
Oh, the ship is being fixed!
It's not enough! Ghost is the only notable NPC in the game, who tells you everything and it's a non-entity/robot with 0 personality, so there's no compelling character to attach yourself to. The story is so poorly conveyed that I got more information from Grimoire mission cards than from within the game! Honestly, why is every thing story related is hidden in a Grimoire without an in-game interface? AC2 had an in-game encyclopedia. The first strike on Earth I honestly didn't know why we were doing it apart from "these are the bad guys". No motivation, no backstory, no exposition. The boss is a bigger flying globe so no custom skin. Any MMO does it better nowadays, with short in-game cutscenes or exposition.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is solid and the game is very fun, but in my opinion Bungie should have realized that this is not an MMO, it's a mostly-singleplayer shooter with partying opportunities and, therefore, it has to have story exposition with proper cinematics, animations and characters. What is worse, is not that other shooters and probably Halo had better story, but even WoW nailed the story exposition better.

You're the same age as me so yes you're old :p

I also love what I've played of Destiny so far, though I didn't partake in the hype train due to only getting my PS4 after the beta.

This game is aaawweeessooome! Thanks to using kbrd and mouse for the most part. Really beautiful and exciting and challenging ai. Nice multiplayer maps too. Simply ace.

I'm 33 ...using a xim4 like a console invalid

I had to look this up and wow:
This is what bugs me the most about the game. They built this really interesting, lore-filled universe...and then wrote a story that did almost nothing with it. I wanted to know more about the warminds, the black garden, the last city, etc. Sure the grimore cards are something but they should be trying to show and not tell wherever possible. The actual gameplay mechanics, music, graphics, environments etc are excellent though.

Your love for the game has brought balance to the universe after the extreme hate of other Gafers. All is now right with the world^^

More people are positive on it than negative. Negatives are loud and post several times^^

I wasn't really feeling the Alpha or Beta, maybe it's because I was playing alone but the few times I played with friends, it still wasn't very fun. Bullet sponges, meh AI and standard missions really bored me.

I did enjoy the Crucible sometimes but it was pretty unbalanced. Is there a Crucible gamemode where there's preset loadouts and/or old-school weapon pick ups? I'd likely just pick up the game for the Crucible and I'll occasionally touch the missions. Doesn't seem like a good investment if only a small part of the game interests me, but percentages are funny and that small part might make up for the entire package.

Also, do the classes ever feel truly distinct as you progress? At level 8, they all felt the same to me with slight differences that didn't really give me new ways of playing.

What in the world…

I've finally reached 'acceptance' with the way Bungie has dealt with the story (or the lack of it). It really is more of a backdrop than an active narrative. Anyone looking for an epic, emotional roller coaster ride is in for serious disappointment.

The 'story' in this game is really what you create, alone or with friends. And I'm totally fine with that. Heck, this is my go to game for the next few months. But something is seriously off about the way it is being marketed.

I really like it so far. There are some issues but I think they were kinda expected with a big game like this. Really excited to see how the game evolves in the next few years.
