It's beautiful

That's how Jeff has always been though, people act like it's new (and to be fair, he really likes D3 - it's Marvel Heroes he plays like that!) :)

Anyways, looking forward to playing this game in about a week. Fuck work.

Oh! No, no. I remember him at GameSpot being like that^^ He is lovable in his own little way... a lot like Dan now that I think about it^^

How are you guys getting random team ups? It feels pretty rude to just randomly walk up to folks and invite them. The total lack of communication outside of a fire team is a very odd decision.

Played roughly 16-18 hours since launch, got to level 16 as a hunter (just started my bladedancer sub class). Running on 15 mins sleep. Eyes swollen and extremely veiny.

Night night GAF, NoTacos go snoo snoo.

sorry i dissapeared a bit, one day later im back and level 13, half way through venus missions.

regarding the hate its getting: the game would stand on its two feet on the strength of multiplayer pvp alone, having an enjoyable pve in various locations and a storyline to boot only underlines that fact.

Its a shame the hate train has no wheels or the people on it would leave OT2 station and head for Othergame island.

Ha. Me and a friend of mine were looking to play a strike on Venus (whichever one has you fight the giant green monster at the end) and we ended up getting put into one in progress. As we get in, the one player that was there is finishing off the boss. We didn't do jack shit and each got two rare items. On one hand I feel that's kind of shitty and should be patched. On the other, I don't mind having taken advantage of it.

it's tedious but i think the shooting is fun enough for me. i've been replaying the first strike over and over just because it's kinda satisfying mowing down a bunch of aliens.

That's true, the combat is so good that i don't particularly care about the reason that i'm shooting all these aliens... But from a pacing standpoint it's so incredibly unimaginative. Bungie have made pretty massive level design sacrifices in order to support an online world. There's nothing particularly engaging or immersive about the online experience either, which makes it all the more sad that the set pieces and variety of halo are totally gone.

The total lack of text chat is baffling to me. How do I talk to friends who can't use a headset because their baby is sleeping?

This is actually a real issue for me. I like text chat in online games, and without it, I can't communicate with a couple of my friends when we play at night.

This just seems too apologetic and is thrown around here too often. A decent story isn't an unreal expectation. Decent setpieces aren't unreal expectations. A balanced pvp experience also isn't an unreal expectation. Especially after the halo series, in which those 3 aspects where perfectly nailed down. It does a lot of things right, but severly lacks in aspects bungie excelled at earlier for some reason.

I'm 29 btw, still to young for the old folks club or can I still join? My knee hurts when the weather changes, so that might help my application ;)

Sure, you can join :)

As for issues you mentioned, all games have these and it is important (at least to me) to find positive stuff in the game that totally covers all the bad stuff (sometimes it's not possible but in this case totally is). I'm a space freak, I love docs and all the stuff about space, time, astrophysics etc. so Destiny is a lot of fun even when not taking since too seriously + I won't be able to visit Moon, Venus and Mars in this life - maybe in next one :)

Played a few hours last night, got my Titan to level 6. I’ve not done anything different to what I did in the beta yet, but still rather enjoying it.

Got a little stuck at one point due my Guardian being too low a level, so thought I’d do some patrol/explore and complete some bounties and get some XP and Vanguard rep. Does anyone know what the point to Vanguard rep or what it’s used for?

I also noticed by mistake that if you click the right stick whilst aimed and another player you can interact and send them an invite to join your fire team, which can be pretty handy, even if the process is very slow and leaves you vulnerable.

Just been having a play around with the companion app as well this morning, very cool indeed but it’d be nice if there was a way to dismantle all your old gear you no longer need, I’m pretty sure you could during the beta.

PSN Assassio, I'm down for some Strikes, yet to do the Moon one. I won't be on for a little while though. But will help as best I can (Lv 11)

Hold Square/X on the gear you wish to destroy :)

Thought of a question I had, last night during pew pew I sometimes got a message that I made an orb of light or something, what is this ?

I played the alpha and beta quite a bit and liked it a lot, how does the final game stack up? I have it but haven't been home to play it the yet.

It is absolutely baffling to me that there so many "defend robot dinklage while he analyzes" missions.... So much money spent on this game, so much focus testing and planning, and nobody at bungie/activision thought that maybe this shit would get tedious??

I think they bit off more than they could chew with this project. I am sure they were under gigantic time pressure and had to get the game out in time.

When you kill enemies with your super, you generate orbs of light for others to charge up their super meter!

Killing enemies with your supers nets orbs of light which helps your teammates to recharge their supers faster.

Edit: Damn you Marvel! P

An orb of light is dropped for each kill you get with a super. Your allies can pick these up to get a substantial part of their super gauge back. Honestly, it shouldn't even be in pvp, just makes it so a coordinated team can get a ton of supers in a row.

After playing about 8 hours I've only got 1 engram and no boss loot drops, is this normal?

At least all my pre-order content fixed itself when I restored my licenses.

I love the way you can basically stumble into co-op situations. I did Venus patrol to get to level 12 before calling it a night, since I'm saving the level 10 asteroid belt mission for tomorrow (or uh... later today). After I got to level 12 collecting batteries from fallen shanks, I got invited into the story mission for that character level by somebody I was helping by accident. We took out that Archon, and I now have that mission completed without even having done the other level 10 story mission. A lot of this is level dependent, but the fact that it can happen makes this game seem a lot more open ended than the corridor crawls we get this day (though obviously not quite as open ended as I expect Farcry 4 to be).

Fun times.

I agree that the game is fun, and there is enough to like to keep me busy. Don't get me wrong, I'm having a good time with destiny. However, I, and many more here apparently, expected a little more in some aspects, and its sad it didn't deliver as much as I wanted it to. For some aspects that fall short (like the story, my biggest gripe) it almost feels weird. We know they can do better, and there is no reason they shouldn't do better.

But you are right I shouldn't be such a negative nancy (everything was better back in the day ;)). The sky boxes are fin amazing. When I first stepped onto the moon and looked into space following the milky way I was awestruck. Really feels like you are standing on this rock in the vastness space (as much as a video game can feel like standing on another planet ;))

I had fun with one of the Gaffers yesterday (also Titan) we were diving into Hive zergs, Havok them, then another one comes in and do the same, then we picked our orbs and we were so damn sorted out for this :) coop is the heart of this game, so much fun in making our lives easier :)

39 here. Loving this so far. Looking for some folks around my age to play with.

And me too! 39 y/o ancient, NES-cartridge-blowing-into-and-Colecovision-before-that, old-ass gamer.

Sounds awesome! I've been mostly by myself which has surprised me, my peeps had full lobbies which is ok but I would like to join up with mah gaffers today.

Also does anybody else's in-game friend list disappear alot? mine does and it forces me to go it solo unless someone invites me or it magically comes back online.

Buy XBONE nab :P

Got a Blue Regulator Mk. 56 Canon. Thing is pretty sweet.
And I think I already out class the Vanguard stuff I didn't redeem.

Played Destiny for a good portion of yesterday. Enjoying it quite much so far even though I played alone in the story missions. One question though:

Are there a way to get into a Fireteam more efficient with your clan members than just manually invite them or vice versa? And what is the purpose of a clan anyway?
