PvP in this game is horrendous. It's almost like one of those MPs tacked on to like Timeshift or some other mid-tier game.

I can't believe these are the people who made Halo's MP.

Never felt comfy with the PC > console FPS transition. What do "pros" do with the right stick, full sensitivity? Does it pay to run around scoped or quick-scoping?

I know you can in some levels like devil lair. While in orbit hit options, then L1 to Roster, click box and change from friends to public. Not sure if it works on all levels

It works on all levels. Just strikes have matchmaking meaning the game fills youre fireteam up with others looking for players.
Just having set it to open and going into patrol for example does not matchmake but it means people can see you, select you and join your fireteam

I pretty much solo'd the alpha/beta but I'm having way more fun playing with people.

should be on the box. I sort of think Bungie ought to force people into fireteams all the time unless you deliberatly choose to solo in the settings menu.

They can. Happened to me last night. Had to boot the guy lol

happens that people start mission at the same time but are you sure he was added to your fireteam?
seems people are pretty avert to joining randoms manually, especially with the lvl being apparent and the feeling of lowering yourself accompanying a lower level on his mission...

I'm gonna spend a good chunck of the evening adding GAF people.

If anyone is up and wants to play a bit I'm off for the rest info the week. Early riser. PSN is pokeystaples. I'm an okay player who doesn't really care about kdr. Level 10 Titan.

Hey Pokey, will you be on around 7 pm EST? That's probably when I'll get on (I'm seriously considering skipping the gym today so I might be on earlier).

Crucible is retarded.
Do you have a shotgun? Well then, I guess you win!

Get Scout Rifle, play Mid, wreak havoc

If you are letting yourself get Blasted, welp...
Around a corner sure, your DOA, play Mid, always moving, no shotty has that range

I haven't made it that far yet. Could you or someone else explain what all it takes to switch your subclass?

Once you hit level 15 on any character, all subclasses become unlocked on your account. So if you make a different character, they will have both subclasses unlocked from level 1.

Think of them like a swappable piece of gear. The skills/passives unlock similarly to upgrades on weapons; experience earned goes to the subclass you currently have equipped.

There are some restrictions to when you can swap subclasses I think, like during PvP maybe or when respawning is restricted. I'm not sure when really because I have only ever swapped subclass once from Striker to Defender.

The lack of matchmaking is a pretty big issue for me personally. Most of my friends aren't gamers and the ones who are have not jumped into current gen yet or are flaky as hell and are hard to schedule time to play with. I would like to hop in with random people but beyond the Strike missions, it looks like I can't do that. Really sucks.

Have to say, I am really loving the game so far, and it is all down to how it plays, the gunplay is great and when up against a large group of tough enemies it is actually exhilarating, controls are spot on and with friends it is a blast.

I completely disagree with this argument. The Alpha and Beta were easily accessible. If you didn't play either you could still watch streams on Twitch and Youtube. Bungie did plenty of interviews, magazines did covers, websites did features. They were very forthcoming with information on the game. Everyone should have had a good idea of what to expect... the information was readily available.

The beta didn't show that there would be 4 locations only.

They didn't give review copies out early so no one could explain the lack of location variety outside of possibly dubious leaks.

I haven't played enough to have my own opinion but everyone I know that is deep is pretty upset and feel like they were sold half a game at best.

You know, that wouldn't be such a bad idea I think. Granted, I wouldn't want to be sorted with griefers but still, I think this is a good idea.

My Vita arrived today with a bunch of games. Being honest, I bought it to play Destiny when I'm not at home. It looks so good.

First of all congratulations:

I agree remote play on destiny really is something special it just looks so pretty. The controls are so intuitive and, despite the small screen, it's relatively easy to pull off head-shots in PVE. It's not really that great for PVP TBH but I don't think that what it's really marketed for

I wonder why exactly Bungie can't give us matchmaking raids.

Among all the good game developers, Bungie should be capable?

Soooo that strike on the moon with big guy in chains....what's the trick to beating him?

Shoot him in the midsection and communicate as effectively as you can where enemies spawn, how many of them spawn, and when you kill them.

My friends and I wiped on our first attempt but after doing the above, it made it very manageable. We were around level 10 and 11, playing on hard mode.

It also helps if you don't hang out on one half of the map. A well placed grenade should also draw him towards you and provide enough of a distraction for one of your team mates if they're trying to go from one end of the room to the other.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Right now I can make groups since so many people are playing on my friend's list. Down the line, when everyone has moved on, I am really going to want some sort of matchmaking system to be there.

My god this PvP is impossible. I'm lucky to get one kill in a match and I usually do little to no damage no matter how much I shoot at someone.

Ugh....I wish I could get into online multiplayer more but it's so damn frustrating dying 20 times in a match and getting a kill in return.

It's not that they can't, but they think it would be unwise.

I'm on the fence about it upon playing the game. I'm not at raid level but I can see how some strikes on hard can be annoying if sorted with a guy who doesn't know what he's doing. I can only imagine this feeling doubled in a raid.

However, I succeed in strikes more than wipe continuously with randoms. So I don't know. I do think Bungie may be right somewhat. This game has the potential to be harder than most console shooters.

I think when enough players realize that the game lacks this feature, Bungie will realize that they goofed on this and hopefully patch it in. The game is suppose to be growing like an MMO so I'm sure we'll see some features like this patched in later on... at least I'm hoping.

That Rab Florence article just sold me on the game. Damn!

If it's lots of "Halo combat moments", I'm in.

I am really enjoying the full game and that article really explains (in a much better way than I could) why I like it so much.

Over all impressions from about 10 hours (mainly on my hunter).

Things I like:
+ As mentioned in the article the gun play feels good and I enjoy it a lot, so all the other things that others might find annoying (story & mission types) doesn't get to me.

+ I've only done old Russia and some moon missions but I really enjoy just exploring the locations, working out how all the areas are linked. I get people might want to find lots of chests etc but it's rewarding just exploring and taking in the scenery for me. I also like finding new areas with ridiculously leveled enemies running away knowing I'll come back later.

+ No set pieces or QTE's so far!

+ Working in post/design I really appreciate the high level of work that has gone into the game. That includes the environments, character, weapons and ship designs as well as the more 2d work with the emblems and u.i/menus.

+ Hand cannons feel so much more viable now, also makes the play style so different, really calculating each shot and going for nothing but head shots. Nothing more satisfying than taking on a mob and dropping each enemy with a head shot.

+ The public events when they finally happen are fun. My last experience was walking around with some other randoms and a ship comes out and drops a devil walker which we took down with team work, then danced on it's corpse... then awkwardly stopped and went our separate ways.

+ Playing missions on the harder difficulty, makes things a lot more varied and hectic.

Not so great things:
- Some kind of quick swap between your primary weapons would be good, seeing as pausing doesn't stop the game finding you need another weapon for a particular encounter the first time can be a bit dicey on harder missions.

- Having to go to orbit after each mission, would be great to be able to go directly to the tower. Seems like an unnecessary step when you want to return a bounty etc.

- Inviting random players to a fire team is too many steps and takes you out to send a psn request. This could be streamlined a bit.

- The postmaster giving bounty hints is a bit odd in it's implementation.

- Though playing on harder difficulties makes the missions better some bosses do become very bullet spongey, they aren't harder but it just takes lot longer, this could be dropped down a bit.

Anyway that's it so far. I can understand the complaints others have had but I'm having fun. If you don't enjoy the shooting then this game will get very stale very quickly but it's working for me so far.

You do realize you can create up to 3 character right?

Save your main for your friends, create an alt.
Do the tutorial, first few missions, unlock PvP, enjoy Crucible on alt.

I mean they give you 3 character spots, 3 classes....

Waste time doing PvP, friends ready, swap to other char, enjoy game with them

I mean, I guess.

It would be the 4th time I played the intro though. Kind of burnt out on the early missions. Can you share gear between alts?

I think the game is fantastic. And I loved the beta too. I'm about to go to work, and I'm wishing I could play a couple of quick missions instead.

But you know what? Maybe if I'd played it for 15 hours when it's only been out for 24, I'd be a bit more negative too. I think normal people who bought it yesterday during their lunch break and then took it for a spin for a couple hours and will take a couple of weeks or more to complete SP and much more to get their fill of MP... I think those people will like it just fine.

If you played the beta up to level 25 (or more? I don't know how far people went, I think I hit lv 4), then played nearly every available minute of the first 24 hours post release, and now you're talking about this "disappointing" experience in the past tense, that seems a little crazy to me.

LAst night I wanted to do the strike mission on earth. Grabbed my buddy who was lv 15 I was level 5. After about an hour slogging through we got the giant servitor down to a sliver of health. Then...... disconnected.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuu

Level 13 takes very little time to hit.

They're not bad because they're level 5...

Yeah. I was rocking level 10+ at level 6.

PvP in the game, to me, is fun when not dealing with vehicles (cause they can get OP if you have a competent team).

Then again, I go >2 KDR in nearly all my matches :/

Shingen-C + elemental shotgun 4 lyfe!

Ah. thanks for clearing that one up. thought it was strange that I had it.

Love your avatar by the way.

I have only played this game solo so far, and I'm worried that with my sporadic schedule that will continue. Learned my lesson about buying digital full price. Since I also have the 2 expansions, going to be forcing myself to play this for a while lol. Don't get me wrong guys, the game is fun, but I feel like loot drops are too rare and the world is empty. Everything requires a massive grind. I liked how in Borderlands the game always threw stuff at you - rare or not. In Destiny, everything happens in small increments. Reach was exactly the same way, and it just seems that Luke Smith has quite a bit of say in how the game was designed. He always loved his MMOs.

In regards to the PVP: feels like even though weapons are equalized level and weapon upgrades are still important. There is no playlist where everything is equal.

The impressions in this thread are really bringing me down. After the beta I decided to hold off on a purchase of the game and opted to put it in my gamefly que. Honestly I just planned on playing the story, but it doesn't seem like the issues I had in the beta with repetitiveness are alleviated with the full game. Still will play it though and see what I think of the full game.

I think the expectations of this game have been blown completely out of control (this is party bungie's fault). I am enjoying hitting missions at higher than i have levels (the challenge is very good). Hopefully after you play anything they can set missions so that they are leveled hard even if you are level 20 or higher. The only real negative is that mission structure is almost always the same. They spent time working on the environments and sort of tacked on mission structure afterwards.

But why no horde mode? These mission locations would be perfect for crazy difficulty horde modes where you can design what enemies hit you and in what order. Super big gap i hope they can fix.

I just got a PS4 for Destiny, so have no PSN friends.

I've grouped with randoms in fireteams, and solo grinding has been fine.

same. new PS4 owner.

solo grinding is exactly my pb. I come from Halo and I play a bit more aggressively than Destiny asks for when alone.

most randoms ignored my invites even tho I picked those in my lvl area... :-(

PSN : feronantus

PS : is there a website that lets add PSN friends that bypasses work filters?

PvP is real good. The people who don't like it probably just aren't good at it.

Given how many people are posting crazy k/d ratio's, I'd imagine there are a lot of people who aren't good at it. Because those deaths have to come from somewhere. Tbh, I'm not very good at it either, and didn't gel too well with it. But practise makes perfect.

Took care of the Devil's Lair and the Moon mission that was featured in the Beta. Also did one new Earth mission before heading back into the Crucible. Had a blast in Rumble, or as I like to call it: "Shotty Heaven". At least it felt good winning a few times. Haven't tried Skirmish, but I want to know the opinion of someone here who has at least been in that playlist a few times.

Currently a Level 14 Hunter so I'll probably get back to focusing on the story.

I'm enjoying it, but everything about this screams no longevity unless they really are aggressive with content updates or whatever they can give away for free. If it's just going to be a non stop avalanche of dlc, yea this game is not going to last long for me.

You get to level 15.

The cool thing is once you unlock the new subclass, you have to level it up like your original so you start off with no grenades or double jumping!

Apparently, once you hit 15 on one toon, your new toons will already have the subclass available from the beginning. This to me is great.

Does that mean you go back and redo level 1 stuff and basically start the game over with your subclass?

I mean, I guess.

Yeah anything you put in the Vault (Tower) is useable by the other characters you created
All 3 of your characters share the same Glimmer amount you've earned

So put stuff in vault, swap chars, retrieve items

If you speedrun Tutorial it's 10 minutes
I have done it 7 times so yeah =D

Hey Pokey, will you be on around 7 pm EST? That's probably when I'll get on (I'm seriously considering skipping the gym today so I might be on earlier).
Yeah, I'll be on for sure. Just hit me up. Don't skip the gym. You'll regret it. I've been out with a shoulder injury for months and I'm missing working out like crazy.

With the first big paid DLC in december i dont think there will be much free content. I really hoped Destiny would more be like Guild Wars 2 in term of content.
