I'm having trouble deciding on a class.

I have
Titan 11
Hunter 5
Warlock 5

I'm a little disappointed with the Titan.
The hulk smash super is pretty legit against a horde of regular enemy types, but useless against the giant damage sponges that can just one hit bitch slap you when you finish it.
Defender seems like it will be cool if I have the patience to make it that far. And since it's obviously geared more toward teamwork, it's gonna suck because I don't really have people I play with regularly yet.

I like the hunters double jump ability, but my god is gunslinger by far the most uninteresting super. The Titan can come flying from the air and hulk smash the earth and the warlock has a giant dragonballz blast and all the hunter gets is a golden pistol? I don't really want to knock it until I try it, but I'm not a fan of rogue types, so I doubt it like blade dancer if I ever made it that far.

Warlock is interesting. I love the super as it actually seems viable against regular baddies and damage sponges, but the lack of a real jump ability is a nuisance. If someone finds a real use for a lateral glide, let me know.

I love destiny and it's fun as hell, just none of the classes seem to click for me. Anyone else have this problem?

Have you tried PVP yet? That might really help you decide which class to choose as your main because the specials there really shine in different combat situations there.

Had a firefight on the moon earlier that made Halo look like junk. The AI is scary good at times. They rush, they flank, they circle you and come back when you're hurting.

It has the pure refined DNA of Halo in the minute to minute gameplay.

You can't be serious with the makes halo look like junk part. The game is pretty good so far, there are issues though. But the encounters in Halo games, especially 1 and 3 are legendary. Can't wait to see this mission you're speaking about that makes halo look like junk...

Everyone says not to play it alone, but I'm having a good time just soloing it. Of course, if this were a straight up MMO, I'd be doing the same. Or attempting to.

Though the game has some definite issues with repetitive mission design, and I cannot stand the PVP, the gunplay is so good I can forgive a few shortcomings and enjoy it for what it is. Besides, this is what we played in the alpha and beta. Why are people so shocked that the final game is pretty much an extension of those?

I pretty much solo'd the alpha/beta but I'm having way more fun playing with people.

I don't agree that Destiny makes Halo 'look like junk' but I will say the game calls back to Halo's heroic/legendary difficulties.

My Vita arrived today with a bunch of games. Being honest, I bought it to play Destiny when I'm not at home. It looks so good.

If you dont have any friends and/or wont play with people from GAF regularly, return it.

Destiny is a game meant to be played with a fire team 90% of the time, I'm having a blast playing with my friends.

Yeah... I'm in a GAF clan and whatever, but I suppose I expected the game to be played with a fire team only like 50% of the time... And now there's no chatting with randoms? I'll probably wait for a few days until I make my decision... I've "wasted" hours reading impressions and it seems that there's no consensus... Or well, I guess there is: with friends it's a good game or even excellent, without them: a disappointment. But in any case not the GOTY material I expected it too be (I must admit...).

I completely disagree with this argument. The Alpha and Beta were easily accessible. If you didn't play either you could still watch streams on Twitch and Youtube. Bungie did plenty of interviews, magazines did covers, websites did features. They were very forthcoming with information on the game. Everyone should have had a good idea of what to expect... the information was readily available.

The disappointment isn't turning into directed anger saying Bungie and journalists lied about the game, it's just disappointment. It doesn't make them trolls for saying they bought a game then feel unhappy with their purchase.

Besides, how many popular articles are there shedding Destiny in negative light? But most of the time people coming into the thread, say why they don't like it, and their opinions are getting shat on. Popular opinion/general consensus doesn't force the unpopular to be quite with terms like "troll".

I'm mostly enjoying it solo but it would have been better if they allowed randoms to join my fire team rather than me having to invite them. :/

PvP matchmaking is horrible. I'm level 13 and being paired up with level 5s who can barely get 2 kills a game. Games are one sided affairs.

People are mad cuz they feel it lacks content , people hate it because they want more of it , you see even trolls like it so much they hate it because they want more of it !!

People hate it because they want to love it more , this tells me destiny is the best game out for next gen right now .

Btw I love what it gave me yesterday during my limited playtime and it was everything I expected it to be : great shooting , great public events , super cool moments in coop, lots of exploration, good challenge .

My only complain is why isn't there more variety in the gear ... I wanted diablo level of gear variety I feel that gear just all looks the same with a different colors, also I agree that sometimes the world can feel empty , I would of loved it to be a little more loot oriented , but again I'm only level 6 lol.

Back to hating you all...and I hate work right now. Good news is my headset should be in today so I am ready to roll with Gafers. Been mostly solo to level 14 as I don't like the included headset and didn't want to be a silent creeper.

Up to the end (probably) of the Moon, leveled just as much in the crucible. Wouldn't mind going back to earth/moon/crucible to roll with fellow gafers this evening.

Every time I am in a firefight in Destiny, the Halo music plays in my head.

"duh duh duuh duuuuuuhhh duh duh duuh duuuuuuuh duh duh duuuh duuuuuuh duhduh duh duuuh duhduh duh duhduhduhduh duh duh duuuuuh"

How much does you level impact your ability in PVP?

I keep doing terribly and matched with levels 10 and 11 when I am a level 8. Do the level's 10 and 11 have an advantage?

It impacts it a lot, the multiplayer is severely unbalanced.

OK you see this is BULLSHIT!

Multiplayer is Balanced, did you read the blurb when you highlight a PvP mode

Please read up on info the game provides

The game plateaus everyone with whatever gear/weapons they are rocking

It's when you go do Iron Banner (Event) when a mode becomes:

Level Advantages Enabled

Other than the enemy types that don't appear on halo, I found the AI to feel identical. To me, this game feels like it was originally going to be a halo game. And it wouldn't surprise me if that's how it was originally pitched.

I have so far a level 10 Titan and a level 7 Warlock. Both I am enjoying immensely.. Not sure which one I like more though..

Do what I'm doing:

I have a level 15 Warlock about to ding 16. I'm dropping my older green weapons into my vault so my new toons can use them.

This worked quite well in the beta, so it should even be better in this final version.

Also, I think I found my biggest issue with the game so far while leveling...this game needs more loot drops early on. I think white tiered low level gear could do with some sort of perk, like faster reloading for x-weapon. I feel I wasn't pressured enough to swap gear going from 1 to 10.

I think that alone would make the game become scary addictive.

Dunno if I should change subclass or not. I prefer all of the stats and abilities of the Gunslinger, but that sword though...

I'm pretty sure there is a way to set your fire team to "public" so players can highlight you can just join.

I'll never understand the waiting for professionals to review a video game thing unless you find a writer you almost always agree with when you play the games.

Game has been a blast for me thus far, though I've only played with friends from work. Not sure why people expected solo to be incredible. This has always beem marketed as a social game imo.

If anyone is up and wants to play a bit I'm off for the rest info the week. Early riser. PSN is pokeystaples. I'm an okay player who doesn't really care about kdr. Level 10 Titan.

I got to level 7 last night, played with a friend for a lot of that. We had a a lot of fun and I like this game.

Level advantages are disabled, so? I'm not posting out of my ass.

A hell of a lot of people have been saying the multiplayer isn't balanced, it just isn't. Go and look at Halo multiplayer to get a sense of what is balanced. Look at all the people in this thread saying they're doing terribly in the multiplayer, yes they're new to the game, but high level players have a huge advantage straight from the off.

For anyone who has completed the storyline and reached level 20: How much more is there to explore on the different planets? I remember there were some locations on Earth for instance that had really high-level enemies.

Ok, so tell me how you got to level 21. I have this light coin item in my inventory. Dunno what that has to do with anything.

Also, how are you liking your Warlock at that level? And how'd you get so many blues? I'm just now starting to get blues on the regular.

See that Light stat on the right? the higher that is, the higher his actual level. He isn't lvl 21 he just has 21 light. 1 light does not equal 1 level.

They do allow you this. Set your fireteam to open and they can select you and join it. Then you can talk to them.

Just because people don't know they can doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

It's surprising how many people don't know that. I guess it isn't really spelled out...

Saying it's "objectively not true" and then immediately stating that the game has "standard FPS gameplay" doesn't really highlight the game's uniqueness.

I'm not saying that Destiny is a standard FPS - just pointing out that if you don't enjoy the basic elements of FPS games, you're probably not going to enjoy Destiny. Surprise, an FPS involves you shooting things. In first person.

I feel like that should be obvious, but based off of some of the comments here, I'm not really sure what people are expecting.

Destiny has plenty of things that separate it from other shooters, like the super abilities, the RPG elements, the loot, the shared-world aspect, etc. I fail to see how that makes it "as generic a shooter as it gets". That statement is objectively untrue, like I said.

I'd take Zoba's opinion on PvP more seriously than yours, to be honest.

I know you can in some levels like devil lair. While in orbit hit options, then L1 to Roster, click box and change from friends to public. Not sure if it works on all levels

I haven't made it that far yet. Could you or someone else explain what all it takes to switch your subclass?

You get to level 15.

The cool thing is once you unlock the new subclass, you have to level it up like your original so you start off with no grenades or double jumping!

Apparently, once you hit 15 on one toon, your new toons will already have the subclass available from the beginning. This to me is great.
