hit level 9 after work yesterday and ran the first moon mission. my god the atmosphere (setting, smart alecks!) is awesome on the moon!

two issues i've had though:
- i got two emblems from bungie.net, but one of them, a variation on the bungie fist, disappeared from my inventory. wtf, i actually probably would stick with that one. hope it returns.
- isnt there a cut scene very early on with the speaker at the tower? after one of the early missions, i lost connection with the bungie servers and when i reloaded it just put me back in the navigation menu without that cutscene (which was in the beta). not a huge deal, but that would suck to miss major cutscenes later because of server/connection issues.
- i also randomly got three exact copies of the preorder bonus ghost skin. odd.

You get the extra ghost skins so you can have one for each character if you make 3 :)

There's no voice chat in matchmaking? No wonder I've been talking to myself.
I wish story mode had matchmaking!

It's a lonely game when you don't have any friends that play on the reg. :/

I am literally going to edit together a "why you should buy this game" vid on upload studio and message it to all my buds.

I thought it did. I felt like it did in the beta.

Intead of regurgitating it's unbalanced over and over, why not specifiy how? What exactly is it about it that is unbalanced? Please describe your thoughts in greater detail so that people can not only agree or offer counter opinions, but Bungie can work to improve things too.

Let me list them for everyone's benefit:

1) Shotgun is OP
2) Auto Rifle is OP
3) Hand cannon is OP now
4) Nova bomb is OP
5) Titan smash is OP
6) People at level 18 or above who have clearly played for longer (and quite possibly better at the game for that reason) are OP

Basically anything that kills me often is OP. Any other explanation hurts my ego.

Not sure why the hate. All it is is a social fps. Gun gun play is good and the missions are serviceable. Not sure why people give a fuck about the story. Who is even paying attention when you're playing with your friends and micced up.

My only issues is why can't they have matchmaking for normal missions like strikes. The game has the long enough load screens.
This might shock you, but some people actually like to play video games that have great stories.

Pro tip if you received a damaged Ghost Edition box from Amazon: Politely complain about it to one of their reps in live chat. They will offer to replace the item, tell them that is inconvenient for you as the item was a gift and has already been opened. They should then offer a 20% refund ($29.99).

Remember, just be polite, explain the damage (express that it looks like it was incorrectly stacked), and do not demand compensation up front.

Why don't you read the rest of the thread? I don't just post regurgitated nonsense for no reason. I'm reiterating everyone else's point in a continuous discussion.

Don't act like there's not dozens of posts of negative PvP impressions.

"I don't know why I think it's imbalanced."
"Someone else said it so I think it is."

I would love I see patched in:

- jump straight to tower
- matchmaking for story mode
- voice chat for matchmaking
- text chat or local voice chat in tower (optional)
- clan support/chat

I dig this game, and if they strengthened the social aspects I think many of the perceived issues would feel much less glaring. The ability to actually socialise in games like these creates a whole new dimension to the experience, if we could chat with randoms and form groups and go off adventuring the entire world would feel more connected and the lack if story wouldn't be as much if an issue.

You can't half-arse social parts in game like these, it makes the place feel incredibly barren if you do.

Yes, they need matchmaking and voice. With my schedule, I can't always arrange to play with people here.

There's lots of posts saying it's unbalanced, but very few detailing why or how. And I'm not asking you for other people's opinions, I'm asking you for yours. Big difference.

But when I post "still will play it though and see what I think of the full game" it's not ok?

lvl 9. I am enjoying Hand canon+sniper rifle combination at the moment.

yup.

feels like ODST firefight...

The whole clan system is just baffling to me. You take your time to join a group, activate your clan and get your snazzy clan tag only to be given no way of meeting up with clan-mates in game.

Yes you can invite people from your PSN friends list who just happen to be in DestinyGAF but there's no specific way to play with clan-mates only or have in game clan meet-ups etc.. Love the game immensely but I personally think Bungie have missed a golden opportunity here.

so much fucking this. so much fucking this...

didi I say so much fucking this?
because so much fucking this.

Why people care about something that is in the game? I have no clue.

Yup to all your questions. If you join the lower level's fireteam, you aren't scaled but you still get rewards and drops at your level. If they pick hard mode, it's different. Your weapons are scaled down and even the first mission on Earth can get hectic.

I'm going to try and get a low level friend to do a high level mission/strike with me to see if his weapons and armor scales up. If it does happen, I think Bungie may be on to something.

This is great to hear, sounds good. Thank you for your reply :)

Hmmmm

You know, I think the AI did see some improvements. Noticed AI backing off and taking cover when I activated my super. I've never seen then do that before.

Just unlocked Mars. I am going to do the final Strike on Venus then go and pick up my glasses! HYPE, they got them delivered in just a single fecking day. Can't wait to put the monitor back in distance and see Destiny with little to no aliasing.

I kinda wish I had this on PS4 now though, I want to play it while I am at my GF's fashion show. I am addicted. Love the new class, love the new grenade.

I grew on this game. I hope Mars is as good as Venus was.

I'm flattered Nib:

Let's start:

Matchmaking is horrible.

Hmmm honestly that should be all I have to say. When you focus on balance damaging across multiple levels, who's design choice was it to NOT balance abilties? Playing against level 20's at level 7 is completely unacceptable.

Shotgun damage range makes it one of the most powerful guns in the game, allowing you to run around the map. ESPECIALLY because of the tight corners/corridors in every map and sprint mechanic.

Radar range is far too big. It's a game of check your map constantly. While, this is a big deal in Halo and it's critical, this was one of the biggest reasons why Halo 4 ruined Halo MP. Sprinting with a radar ability as powerful as it is in Destiny hampers the skill base quite a bit.

Still don't think they balanced fusion rifles at all... The charge time up is far too little for being a one-shot. The fact that I can run around getting triple kills left and right is a joke.

I can keep going but for the sake of it being the first week, hopefully Bungie will balance and fix these issues.

"I don't know why I think it's imbalanced."
"Someone else said it so I think it is."

Ahem.

Indeed, the in game "clan" system being essentially non-existent other than a tag is baffling for a game that kinda promotes itself as a socials FPS. Hopefully a patch rectifies this very soon.

Right, and this is what I want to know. Seems to me like in the last update they corrected some of the balancing complaints people had from the BETA, so now I'm just curious about which one's still remain, or are obvious in the full game. Trying to get specifics on these opinions is quite the task lol.

But when I post "still will play it though and see what I think of the full game" it's not ok?

No that's perfectly fine. The best way to form an opinion of a game is obviously to play it for yourself. No amount of reading other people's opinions or reviews can truly tell the full story about how a game will appeal to you personally.

Not to be that guy, but I think Bungie may be onto something aside from trying to keep reviewers from harshly criticizing the game prior to release.

After one day, I can say the game got more enjoyable the more I jumped into it, and it wasn't like I was looking for all the cool things I found either. They sort of just came to me as I leveled up.

Also, I don't think this game needed cutscenes in retrospect.

A lot of them still remain Nib. Which is what people are saying in a lot of forums, including this one. It takes no more than a few minutes of research to find this out.

Then if we're being quite honest your reply to me was pretty condescending.

Just a heads up to people trying for this. I did some experimentation-- the "Triple Play" trophy/achievement description is not accurate. You need to get at least a triple kill that includes a Warlock, Hunter, and Titan for it to unlock.

I suggest if you're a Hunter using heavy weapons, shotguns, and your super if you're a bladedancer. As a Titan, hulk smash, and as a Warlock your hadouken.

I love the gameplay and I'm having fun, but like I said some time ago the fact that they already have 2 planned expansions rubbed me the wrong way and I guess it's worse now that I know the content is a bit limited.

I guess they don't care about that, though, since they already got my money (and I gues that's fine, because I don't regret spending it... so far).

Why people care about something that is in the game? I have no clue.

I don't mind the negative opinions. Feel free to really, really dislike anything you want.

That some people seem to be actively campaigning to drag everyone down with them is the problem.

People on the pro side are doing it too.

Big release, people like drama and to talk down to others. I guess it's just a massive opportunity for people to vent their shit.

Instant fireteam joining when you're in the same instance too. For how hard they pushed the social aspect of this game, they made it really annoying to actually play with random players.

I'm gonna say it again, why do dungeon PUGs not auto-refill when someone leaves?Right now, when someone leaves the party, that's it. Time to start over. And with how long it takes to kill the bosses, it's a bit of a chore to start over.

Not where yet?

AI is great.

well, they are extremely limited as to where they can travel/chase. if you get to a tough area you almost always have the option to backpedal to where they cant follow to recharge. i'd like to see that improved for sure.

Then if we're being quite honest your reply to me was pretty condescending.

It was. And I apologise for that. The point I was trying to make is that there are still far more positive impressions than negative, but for some reason your post only emphasised the negative, and that was my point of mild contention.

Welp, all I can see is my Warlock doing a hadoken now. Thanks.

Just upgraded my delivery so the PS4 and Destiny will be arriving early morning to coincide with day off tomorrow. Sweet!

PS4 folk...is there a massive slow update that Im going to have to endure before using the console/game? Im still scarred from my PS3 and GT5 experience haha.

(And while we're at it, if anyone could highlight the best and most active f2p games out there I'd be grateful!)

Is it wrong that I was expecting some Frank Herbet-type levels of world buiding out of Destiny?

So much big wording leading up to release about this universe and..... yeah :(

I don't know, but when doing strikes, are we locked in the rooms we fight in? That would make a difference.

Anyone else getting bee errors nearly everytime he or she is going to the Tower and on random occasions in strikes and patrol?

Currently Level 12. Theres a lot about this game I really dont like..but something I find absolutely fucking stupid is when you switch your secodary weapon and heavy weapon and you lose most of your ammo. Sometimes I need a sniper rifle, sometimes I need a shotgun, sometimes I need a rocket..etc.

Some math:
Machine Gun - 24 rounds
(Switch)
Rocket - 0
(Switch)
Machine Gun - 0 rounds

Why the fuck do I lose my machine gun rounds? Where did they go?

Shotgun - 20+ rounds
(Switch)
Sniper - 6 rounds
(Switch)
Shotgun - 4 rounds
(Switch)
Sniper - 1 round
(Switch)
Shotgun - 0 rounds

Did Bungie not anticipate scenarios where you would need shotguns, snipers and a primary weapon in their repetitive battle arenas?

The D pad is wasted on 4 fucking emotes. Why isnt that the weapon wheel/selector? Even if the disappearing ammo doesnt bother you, how annoying is it to go into a menu screen to switch weapons?

Took about 20 mins to install and there was a 1 minute to DL update. Fairly painless experience.

Is there any way to make contact with bungie for some changes. The biggest one I want is to be able to announce in the tower that you're looking for fireteam members and let them come to you.

Instead of inviting people manually and hoping they join (which they often don't)

Not where yet?

AI is great.

Still have ennemies not reacting when you snipe them from far away. They don't really flank you, they don't cooperate... Some of them seem to have little zones they won't get out of.
When a starship drops new ennemies for a zone, they just make a run for it, even if you shoot their asses continuously.

Hmmmm

It certainly has. In the beta I could throw a grenade towards an advancing column of enemies and they'd still just right walk into it. Now they back off until it's exploded then charge towards me.

Little touches like that make a really big difference. You feel as though you're battling sentient beings and not just lines of code.
