How does the crucible/story loot cross over work. I was surprised when I started crucible to see that I was using my story weapons, I thought the loot and levels were completely separate. What crosses over between crucible and story and what stays locked in each mode?

See I told you Cabal were awesome!

They really change up the game play
Those fuckers with shields (-_-), going in front of the mini boss and protecting it... WHAT ON EARTH!

I was like Aye yo'!, they protecting that Colossus

I don't really understand the comments that people should've known the entire game would be like this based on the beta.

Games usually aren't exactly the same at hour 20 as they are at hour 2. They tend to change and introduce new mechanics, mission types, etc.

I had fun with the beta and expected the final release to actually go somewhere, not have the exact same mission structure for the entire game. And at the time lots of people kept saying, "It's only a beta!" to imply that the full game would do more. Plus there is some trust in Bungie (with their stellar track record) do have done a better job.

It bothers me that the defenders during beta would say to not be so harsh because it's just a beta. And the defenders at release would say it's your own fault because beta told you everything you needed to know about how the entire game would be.

Whatever I guess.

The base shooting gameplay is fun, even for someone who doesn't normally like shooters (me), but the structures around it could use some work. They have a good base to build on with DLC/sequels though. Destiny kind of seems like it will end up being the Assassins Creed 1 of the franchise.

I don't know, the game is exactly what I expected coming out of the beta, given all the information that was released alongside it.

I think some people thought it was going to be a much bigger more vast experience than it is but I think that was people ignoring the information presented to us through the beta and from bungie and just letting there hopes for the game lead them astray.

I'm probably one of the rare people that wasn't to impressed with the beta am really enjoying the final product. I think it's because I knew what I didn't like about the game and I'm willing to overlook it because I enjoy the universe, gunplay, and OST and that stuff hasn't disappointed me.

http://destinynews.net/look-whats-come/

Some info on what's to come. Nothing solid about when, but those two raids seem likely to be parts of each expansion. And there's items too.

Darn - should've read that. Seems like expansions are a waste of money for someone like me (a person that will not play a lot once MCC comes out)

That said, if they implement a matchmaking system that makes it easier to play how the game was intended - I'd be a lot happier.

Yep. They saved the best for last, definitely.

Generally I save my blade dance ult til a spawn drops/jumps in and i about 4-5 kills in when i realized i was swinging on a praetorian

lol i got fukked up

last night was awesome

Everything is shared except for levels in each mode sans Iron Banner. Your gun that does 150+ damage? it gets scaled down but it'll still have all its perks.

I'm not sure how much farther you could pull the shotgun range in, honestly. The damage fall off of every shotgun I've seen is pretty heavy. Because of the radar I don't think pulling them in farther will do change much; they really aren't useful for doing much but guarding blind corners against players that haven't learned maps that well yet. For basically every other engagement scenario you are better off with a fusion rifle.

Well said, good point. I guess we'll see how Bungie handles it.

Oh yeah, who's going to be game at 9 PM EST? I'd like to play with gaffers finally. PS3 or PS4. No matter to me.

PSN: Afrodeeziyak. Please have mics since I have one. Also be nice!

Man the voice acting is giving me the cringe

I love the space anime feel of this game. It can be boring at times but theres always too much noise in games like Borderlands. The silence can feel serene here.

I hope theres more to this game though

So, where is the loot in Destiny? Right now its worse then vanilla diablo 3. Im level 9 almost 10 and im still running around with quest reward weapons. Where is it?

It's coming, just be patient, keep leveling up, soon you'll be saying, too much shit, what to do with it all

I'm like totally bananas over my Uncommon Level Titan gear. I got a elemental (purple, so void?) shotgun that I was able to fill out all the upgrades to with just a little glimmer.

I've played through every Crucible mode, gotten up to the first moon mission, and done about an hour of patrol missions. I'm at level 9.

Here's my concern about the game so far: Is it so incredible that I might stop reading comics? It's Wednesday and I kind of don't even care.

Seriously, though, by splitting my time among all the different activities available, I haven't even come close to being bored. And I'm totally enamored with all the immaculately designed armor and the increasingly rad weaponry.

And people are saying it really starts at 20? I don't know man. Considering all the negative impressions, I feel like the fact that I'm still this hyped over it, while I'm actually playing it, means that I'm not crazy.

That it really is my favorite game ever.

So what is the deal with the crucible loot vendor? Why is that loot labeled as crucible loot? Some things in this game are as clear as mud.

Few things I noticed playing a bit last night.

Agree with most people that matchmaking should be a focus for improvement. When I'm doing story missions it should be am option to matchmake them, for example. Along those lines, no clan incorporation seems bizarre. There's really no in game purpose in terms of having a list of active clan members I can join? Odd.

Final thing I noticed was how easy it can be to miss chests. I wished they showed up on your radar when you're close to one. Memorizing their spawn points seems excessive.

Definitely had a lot of fun though.

I had a moment last night with some friends in an early coop story mission (probably the 3rd or 4th you can even do in the game). We were just using our sparrows/speeders to zoom around and kill things, and man, from the rock-solid framerate, to the high IQ, to the fun of just exploring a new alien world, to the relative seamlessness of forming a fireteam without stupid level restrictions or lack of scaling rewards....it all just worked. It was fun.

And I found myself repeatedly in awe of the fact that THIS is what games look like now. Speeding around on a sparrow through Russia's canyons really made the game pop for me.

This is what games look and feel like right now. Really marvelous.

Advice for one thing, please:

I'm only at Level 6 right now, Awoken Warlock. There aren't actually choices yet for upgrade paths, right? Every level or so, a new ability's shown up in the upgrade menu. And I've gone in, and selected it. There weren't choices, and it didn't seem like I should be forgoing an upgrade in order to 'save' for another one or something, right? It looked pretty linear to me.

But the fact that you have to go in there and make a decision to upgrade implies to me that there was another choice. Am I missing something?

Also, as far as spec goes (or sub-class, whatever) - as a Warlock at first, you can only be a Voidwalker, right? The other option(s) only unlock at level 15, si?

FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT. I'VE BEEN MENTIONING D3 THIS WHOLE TIME.

*pant*

Ok, but yeah, it gets better. I began getting more loot near the end of the Moon past 10. I'm about ot hit 16 and I can't hold all these greens and blues. I've begun putting them in my vault for my other toons.

Had an absolute blast playing this last night. Some of the battles are just insane. The fucking moon strike is beyond hard, frustrating and made me want shake something. We never beat it. I was a lvl 14 and the two dudes I was with were lvl 12 and we still could only get the last boss down to half health. I loved every second of it though. I'm gonna try again once I get some dudes that are at least lvl 14 because it's too fucking hard ATM. Has anyone beaten it actually being a lvl 12? Shit seems impossible lol

Played some yesterday and I've noticed the density of players is a lot lower than the beta (at least on early Earth missions). Not sure if that's intentional or if the beta just had everyone crammed in to the limited content available. Kind of sucks because I had no trouble finding randoms to party up with in the beta. Now I'm lucky if I'm even near anyone not already partied up and almost everyone else seems to be too busy doing their own thing.

For those who don't have a deep friends list or mostly playing solo: How's the match making? (Is there match making?)

Most of my active friends are on the XB1 - I'm rolling on a PS4. Assuming I can't put together Fire Teams is it worth the purchase?

Bladedancer subclass is amazing.

It's a shame I only have Mars, and a handful of Strike missions left which I will probably complete tonight, but w/e right?

I won't touch mars until I get back tonight though, hope I won't be disappointed.

I don't know why I let other people's negative opinions have any sway in my thoughts.

I'm loving the game and most people's negatives tend to be things I rather enjoy. I'm not even out of Old Russia yet.

I think that's a sample of what raids are going to be like. You have a big ass boss who can one shot you and a ton of enemies flooding the room who are actually dangerous in groups (I swear you fight like 30 knights and wizards that whole encounter).

My biggest tip for that fight (and I've only cleared it once - my first time) is to keep moving. With the enemies that appear, it doesn't help to stand still and camp. The lasers may not hit you, but a knight will ruin your shit if you're stuck all alone not moving anywhere.

There's also a gold chest in the platform across the entrance on the other side of the arena. I got the rabbit emblem from it.

I seem to have all 5 gold chests in old russia but the map still says 4/5. This happen to anyone else?

The 5 are

1. The 2nd mission, on table, it's right in front of you
2. Skywatch mission/area, when you meet the Wizard for the first time or Explore the Fallen Captain and his buddies in that room. It's on the roof, close to the wall
3. In between the Mothyards and Forgotten Shore, first turn after the waterfall, the small river, look to your left, a cave there
4. Keep going to Forgotten Shore, reach the water/ocean, hug the left wall, run into water, perched of rock
5. The Devil's Lair Strike, last boss Sepkis Prime, fall to the bottom floor, look to the right side, it's hugged where the rafters meet the ramp

Have you made a different class yet? Is it true that once you hit 15 with one, all your toons have a subclass unlocked? If so, I'll probably roll a hunter next to try out bladedancer.

I did some of the missions on Venus last night and God! those vex creep the fuck out of me the way the walk towards you and run when you blow their heads up!

Shooting Vex in the belly with a handcannon is super satisfying.

I like how Headshot do less damage, need to do body shots, completely fucks up your Aim
Especially in Dust Palace Strike, Cabal Head, Vex Body, if they start fighting each other, clusterfuck!

Nice!! Yeah man we figured out the key was to constantly move on our 4th or 5th attempt. It's definitely the damn knights and wizards that keep getting me, there are an absolute ton of them. We just need to be able to more damage I think. I'm dead set on beating this strike tonight.

Dunno if this is just happening to me or to others. but here..

So I was in a team with my friend. He couldn't hear me but I could see my mic icon in the lower right when i speak. Even when we group party, i can see my mic moving and his not.

Then, me and my friend saw some random guy online (who is also from the philippines like us), he heard me, but not my friend. And my friend couldn't hear him too.

heres the weird part...

my OTHER friend (2), also can't hear me. but then i can still see my mic in the game and in group party. have yet to test it with another stranger with friend #2.

whats going on??

and according to them, they can see their mice flashing and not mine. :|

Yeah I'm level 11 and I've played 2 story missions on the moon. Still mucking about Old Russia. Then I got sucked into Crucible.

Did you get the one
after the sepiks prime fight?

I collected all 5 easily and the reward popped straight away.

1. The 2nd mission, on table, it's right in front of you

Thanks guys. Yeah I have all of those. I guess I'll take another pass and see if I'm blind.

Whats the reward?

My biggest complaint would be the lack of story elements, like when you first visit the Reef, those couple of minutes of cutscenes is what I expected throughout and not just rarely appearing during the story, because they were great to watch. The game just needs more of these little bits fleshing out the universe, they are too far apart, and I'd like to know whose terrible idea it was to leave the grimoire stuff out of the actual game. Bungie knows how to build a universe, I just want to know where all the lore is, because I shouldn't have to go to a website or use an app on my phone while playing to learn anything.

I also can't wait to see what they can do with a sequel, one that isn't held back by the previous generation. The game looks nice but at times it feels like some visual spark is missing from the worlds, I want bigger maps with more people to explore the world with, strikes that allow a few more players. Mechanically it is a solid foundation but it does feel like they have squandered a lot of potential.

I'm still enjoying it regardless of the issues I think it has, it hasn't quite lived up to the hype for me, but it is an enjoyable game, and one that I think is more definitely better with friends.

Permission to cosign on your post.

The running around and shooting things part of the game is great.
I didn't expect Uncharted or even Borderlands level of story integration, but what we have here is just disappointing given the potential of the world they have crafted.
I can get over the small maps but the fact that the planets but the whole "you see that area in the distance? you can go there" comment still stings.
