Just did the Devil's Lair Strike and it was so much fun. I really need to get more friends on PSN and join in more online. I'm speaking into my mic and on the menus the little speaker indicates I'm making noise, but I haven't heard anyone talk back yet. Anything I need to switch on?

You can't talk to strangers.

DestinyGAF!

I'm at home feeling ill and gonna log on in an hour or so for some escapism and blasting. Really really early on though (lvl 4.5) but much rather play with some GAFfers than randoms.

PSN is sploatee. You may call me Sploat.
Sent you a request. Kyuubi no Youko

I'll be honest. If you don't have friends, this game is devalued tremendously. If you do - and they're actually good at the game too - it shoots out the roof.

I wish there was a sidekicking/level adjustment feature for PvE. I've got like 6 hours plus on my brother and thus can't really join him on anything and keep it a challenge. I suppose making another character would not have been the biggest trouble, but then I'd probably not be a Hunter, and no one wants that.

Yup that's indicating your talking to your fireteam and even though you're paired with others they aren't in your fireteam. This is probably my largest fault on a technical level with Destiny. They talk about meeting others etc but they seem to go out of their way to keep you from actually communicating with them.

I reached rank 20 earlier. But what' this light stat that you have to upgrade now?

It literally doesn't even come up on my gear page. Do I have to do something before I can see that?

I've been trying to do the first strike for about an hour now. My first game I had more than double the kills of the other players and I had to revive each of them about 10 times. My second go around was a little better, but the result was the same with both tries. Someone ends up leaving after the first wipe and the two remaining are unable to handle it.
I certainly suggest a fireteam. There are legit challenging elements to these and I can understand randoms having a lot of trouble.

I don't really even feel like "bullet sponge" is all that fair a description of the strike bosses. Headshots/criticals count for a lot, and it's not like you're able to just attack with impunity (unless overleveled maybe?). They felt like tense, tight encounters to me of pretty reasonable total length and length per boss.
So is that the same for armor? All weapons and armor just have a base stat as if it were like a Halo game?
In the Crucible- Damage and Armor yes.

You do retain things like, little special quirks your gun might have for reloading or refreshing your special abilities. And magazine size.

I can't speak for Skirmish as I haven't made it that far yet. And apparently a mode called the Iron Banner will do away with all the equalization and just be crazy gear-weighted madness.

Good lord I keep repeating myself!

You can be a higher level than your friend. The game scales you down if they pick hard mode. Also, you get loot for your level regardless of what difficulty they pick.

Hey guys, how do you get the other two ships from the PS4 timed exclusive content advertised here? I got the first ship, the "Aurora Wake", from the Post Master when I started the game, but am not sure how to get the other two ships, weapons, and gear.

Came back at a higher level to do the strike mission on Earth, I actually thought the Devil spider thing was harder than the last boss

Oh, nice. Does it tell you that anywhere in-game? I probably just missed it because reading is for chumps.

Man, I dunno. Played the first thirty minutes and I really don't like the shooting. Reminds me of Bioshock in the way that it doesn't provide ample enough feedback to make kills seem rewarding. Really doesn't feel like Bungie at all.

Oh man completely disagree. This is a Bungie game through and through.

There are many aspects of criticism I've seen voiced I can agree with or at least comprehend but this, I must say, has been nothing like my experience. I see very unmistakably Bungie gunplay, high impact, satisfying kills.

Can someone explain the strike on the Moon? I beat it, but it was a mess. Is there some kind of stable strategy? Coughing out 3 or 4 Wizards and Knights at the same time is kind of hard to just shrug and rush like the Devil's Lair strike just coughing out low tier enemies.

Is the Season pass worth it NOW or should i spend my money elsewhere for the time being?

you're seriously asking if something that hasn't been released is worth owning now, with no one being able to discern the quality of the season pass given that none of the expansions have been released?

Of course it's worth it. Buy two, if you can, for each platform.

It's odd but it doesn't. A friend and I were testing it out since Borderlands doesn't have this feature.

What I would like to see is if a high level person can bring a lowbie along and have them get bolstered, yet still get XP at a fair rate.

Yes. 100000x better with a group.

I've been playing solo for missions/exploration so far and I still love it.

The most fun I have with the game is with friends, however playing alone later on is getting far more enjoyable.

yup. Have a clan with about 10 friends. And all of us live in the same city and are real life friends. So that probably makes it much better.

Thanks for the feedback. I need to get some serious time - but only have a few hours each day =/

Most Day 1 reviews I've seen echo the same sentiment:

1. The game world doesn't feel epic in scale. 12-player zone caps are too small. Lots of empty zones. Public Events are not pulling in as many people as they showed off in the E3 2013 previews.

2. Heavily recycled gameplay in small zones. Lots of criss-crossing and backtracking for almost all Explorable World Beacon Missions.

3. Serious lack of diversity in the 3 Guardian classes; only very minimal differences in abilities and some "super powers" are much more powerful in PvP than others.

4. On a positive note, the PvP is a lot of fun; although Warlocks and Titans seem to have an unbalanced advantage over Hunters in PvP. The Golden Gun helps, but the cooldown forces Hunters to do lots of running and hiding. Hopefully this gets more balanced with patches.

5. The launch-day servers were fine and no widespread reports of outages.

I think that whole fight is a straight gear check. If you cant melt through knights and wizards by the time you're in that strike, then you're going to have a hard time.

I'd say, if nothing else, wait until you get some impressions of the raid.

Afrocious, you can't bring a low level people into higher content and have them not get massacred. But in the other direction the "sidekicking" thing for hard mode applies even to the lowest level mission; I even got an engram from one despite being like 6 levels "too high" for the person I was helping. very cool.

PvP is so good, damn. Feels even better and more balanced than Halo to me. Averaging a 2.11 kdr right now. Hopefully i can keep it around there, but i'm sure it'll go down after the scrubs quit playing. I'm gonna be playing this game for a looong time.

It's really nitpicky of me and it shouldnt bother me in the slightest but it actually kinda annoys me all the people refering to the strikes as raids. strikes =/= raids

:P

Proximity chat would have been great.

This is my most anticipated game this year, but none of my friends are getting it. Serious bummer.

So... I'd like to join whatever XboxOne list there is for gaffers. Need some teammates y'all!

My gamertag is matiics

I got this sweet helmet.

I think I'm warming up to PVP now, I didn't like it much but it's growing on me.I really like rumble and control although I will say that Bastion map is the worst.

Is Bastion the one on Mars with the vehicles? If so, it's like the moon but less crazy.

I agree. But that may be the MMO part of me.

I still don't see what's so hard for them to patch proximity chat in. It's not like it's too hard to do it, right?

.

Yeah that's the map. I really don't like it, it just feels so awkward and unbalanced. The moon one that is like that however at least offers better layout imo and I don't mind it.

Did the strike in old Russia yesterday. The other two guys had no clue. After a few fails one of them left. Me and the other guy managed to kill the spider tank. The purple eye is just a bullet sponge. Easy.

I see a lot of people in the tower. But in the world i'm usually alone. It wasn't like this in the beta.
Public event on the moon and i was the only one around. I had to kill the fucker all by myself.

Game has its flaws like many are already pointing out. But gameplay is fun. I'm addicted.
Can't wait to go home and play some more.

By the way, handcannon is so badass. Too bad mine got overleveled so quickly.

I am a sick individual I have probably restarted 10 times trying to nail done by characters look.

edit: um wow I am not even going to correct that sentence. Ten straight hours of Destiny will make you do strange things.
