PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

So I know you can't change your PSN ID whenever you want, like how you can pay to change your XBL gamer tag, so I figured I would just create a new PSN ID with a different email I have. My only concern is that I have a LOT of digital purchases and PS+ stuff tied to my old account (the one I want to replace) so how would I go about making a new PSN ID, and transferring over all my stuff to the new account? Or rather, have my new account be associated with all my current stuff? I figure I can create the new account, register a new name, and then would I change the new names email account to my old one (the one everything is currently under?)

Sorry if it seems a little confusing...

I'm actually not sure you can do that with PlayStation IDs. I believe all content purchased under one account is locked to that account, period. I don't think you can transfer ownership to a new account.

So I may have received some information about Vitas being restocked at Gamestop starting next month....

Cool, so the Tearaway bundles are coming to NA next month :D. Maybe we will get a Minecraft one to :D! ......Sony won't do that X(.

Still though, it is nice to know that more Vita's are going to retail stores; for the past few months stories have not been selling the things due to no new shipments :(.

Guess Sony is stocking shelf's up for Black Friday or something....

Not a chance... MS is looking to buy it out.

Vita getting rekt by everyone.

That's not what he said...

Well, considering that bundle is supposedly coming to NA at some point, I think it's okay to guess that some of those Vita shipments might include a few of those bundles :l.

Is that whole "Microsoft going to buy Notch and the Minecraft IP" really happening? ....I would think that is a stupid move, considering how successful the IP is on multiple platforms (the PS3 sold a ton and I think PSN had issues when the PS4 version of it launched XD!). Notably on Mobile and PC, as that is where most of the player base of this game resides; if it's only on Xbox platforms....that will only hinder the IP's success :l. Then again, Microsoft does port over there games to PC sometimes, so I guess a Minecraft 2 will land on that as well in the end (and mobile under a "Microsoft Studios" banner or something).

So I started Danganronpa?
and already two characters are dead. Is there any control over who dies or not? Or is the story linear?

Yeah, played a bit of PS All-Stars and I don't think this game is as bad as people were saying. This seems like a case of people wishing this was Smash Bros.

I believe it displays the password in Remote Play Settings in the Settings area of the PS4.

If not, simply de-register the device, then re-register for direct remote play.

After literally nothing else helped, this actually seems to have fixed it! De-registered and then re-registered and now I can clearly see my vita changing WiFis to switch to the PS4 direct connect WiFi when I launch link, and I have no more connection errors. Played like an hour of Diablo 3 and tested some Strider for a more twitchy based game and both work like a charm, super happy to have remote play back.

Now if only I could change the mapped areas for R2/R3 and L2/L3 on the rear touchpad, it feels very different trying to hit those on an OG vita vs a slim, so being able to change the size and position would be nice.

Anyway, thanks for all the help, glad I got this set up!

Aside from the stage design, which I think could have been better, it was a solid game. I think the roster was never going to live up to Smash Bros., but the fact that we got Sir Dan made me happy. Wish we could have got some other characters like Aya Brea.

it's not bad... it's about how it could have been so much better.
it just feels like a huge wasted opportunity for Sony to make a huge hit

Which surprise mobile game will announce SE?

Type-0 is happening, shahid redeemed

He said it's not announced for Vita yet, what could it be? Obviously Type-0.

Isn't the mobile port like super butchered?
Why no one thought of Persona 5? :\
Honestly at this point i want anything but Type 0, i'm just worried that the "very japanese" part means lots of tits and fanservice, Vita needs more "serious" games.

I've started playing Borderlands 2 on the vita again after a good few months away from it.

Personally, I think reviews of this game were overly harsh... I'm loving it all over again.

For PS3/4 this is fine. I ran with a US PSN for ages because the Uk store on PS3 at launch was shit. When vita came out I switched to a new UK PSN account, but I can still play all the games I bought with my US account (and I'm still doing it on PS4). Couple of things to consider:

- on PS3 you can have two activated consoles. So stuff you bought with your old PSN can be played on two machines by anyone logged into one of those consoles.

- on PS4 you have one 'primary' console. Any games bought from your old PSN account can be played by anyone if you set he OS4 to 'primary' for that PSN account. So if you only have one PS4 that's fine. If you ever buy a second PS4, or use a friends, you can only play your purchases by signing in with the purchasing account.

- on vita, you can only play digital games bought with the same account that your vita is signed in as. This is the most restricted console for that kind of thing. So if you bought a lot of digital vita games, your vita PSn would need to stay unchanged.

Persona 5 will be an updated version a year later for handheld. That is their modus operandi.

Yep, I understand it could have been better performance-wise and that needs to be criticized, but overall it's perfect when I'm on my way to the university. I think it would be great to have more games like this one on Vita (sleep mode <3), a Diablo type of game would be just glorious or more SRPG... :(

BTW I'm in chapter 4 of Danganronpa 2. The story's getting off and I can't stop playing it, and at the same time I don't want to finish it.

the sale thread is pretty much dead so ill ask this here.

Is command & conquer retaliation vita compatible (Aus)?

Also,

- Are the ports in Sega Mega Drive Collection any good?

- Is it worth buying the power stone collection if I will be the only one playing? Is there enough single player content?

Thanks!

Finally got DR2!! ;_; The wait was so long, but I HAD to get physical because danganronpa!!!
I'm in the middle of the prologue....
nooo monokuma what did you do to usami *cries*

I can't handle all that twists.

I really think this is way better than DR1 by miles in story and characters. The minigames are still iffy though.

I don't really think Shinobi would bother reporting "RPG love" if what we are going to get is another fanservice heavy RPG. I mean, don't we already have a sea of fanservice RPG on the Vita already?

NOPE

There's not enough super robot wars on it.

And no, that shit of a Masou Kishin is not a Super Robot Wars.

I actually like Masoukishin games, and kinda sad that the last one isn't available on the Vita. All Masoukishin games I played are on the Vita.

To tell the truth, I have more interest in the original timeline of OG franchise more than the usual SRW games, and Masoukishin belongs to it.

The Sega PSP collection was handled by Backbone, but the games run well enough.

Linear story kinda like a visual novel that plays out like Phoenix Wright. Stick with it. It gets insane later.

Thanks.

Boo Hoo. Boo the Wikia page for danganronpa characters. Was searching for their mugshots to use as avatar and the first line is an end game spoiler. ;.;
Fashionista is the main antagonist

Didn't they change their modus operandi when they announced P5 for a console and its successor?

More SRW or any other license hell game means no love for us western gamers.

Thanks.

NEVER search for ANYTHING Danganronpa related.

I think the next time if someone recommend Danganronpa, they should put the warning in the same posts. I've seen people making mistake by looking for information before playing the games.

What has been seen cannot be unseen, people.

Just wait for them to announce a Vita one. They're just milking it anyways.

So...EU retro sale.

If were to spend ~ around €10 for games to play on my Vita in this sale, what would you guys recommend (or otherwise) from this lot:

Silent Hill €2.99 (This one is a must)
Grandia €3.59
Wild Arms €1.79
Ridge Racer Type 4 €1.99
Jumping Flash €1.79
Syphon Filter €1.79
Gods Eater Burst €4.99
Power Stone Collection €3.59

I will absolutely and undoubtedly, when given the option, recommend Ridge Racer Type 4 to anyone who is considering it. It's an evocative racing game that exemplifies some of the best aspects of Ridge Racer whilst also being one of the most unique out of the franchise because of it's rather nostalgic look at motorcar racing as seen through the very brief narrative in the Gran Prix mode.
My bias is showing.
Just a little! Have you tried it on Vita?
It was one of the first games I bought on PSN after I ordered my Vita. It plays well and looks great on the OLED.

Edit: You could also get Silent Hill, RRT4+Tekken (in the heritage bundle they're offering). Not sure what that works out to in €.

Silent Hill and Jumping Flash! for sure. I haven't played the Power Stone Collection, but I own both games on the Dreamcast and they are ace, especially the first one. You might want to try out Syphon Filter. It's fun in its own campy way, but it has not aged well and towards the end it becomes the Dark Souls of third-person shooters.

I have a feeling this will be the end of Masoukishin franchise anyway. Usually if they didn't announce console and handheld version together, there won't be a handheld one later.

It's a series that shouldn't have continued.

I see no reason for Masou Kishin when the very purpose of OG series was to be "the SRW of SRWs" and finally have one universe where Banpresto Originals are tied together. The only reason(speculation) I see is that it's a deal between Winkysoft and Bandai Namco to be able to use MaSou KiShin characters in exchange for job (aka the rebranding of MasouKishin to a "SRW OG Saga").

Oh, before you confuse yourself, OG series != OG Saga. Not sure if you make the distinction, but many people do.

In getting GE, Legacy of Kain and Spyro Triology. I missed Atelier sale since I had some minor problems (this happens me to often lol)

Thanks for the suggestions!

I've played everything on the list on the original platforms (DC, PSOne, etc.) at release, except Grandia, Wild Arms and Gods Eater Burst.

I'm debating skipping Power Stone as I still have this on the DC, although having a portable version could be fun.

Thing is I have a piss-poor memory and my tastes have changed a lot over the years.
I remember enjoying Syphon Filter, but I'm pretty sure that even at the time it seemed janky. I barely remember playing Jumping Flash, and I know it was poorly received at the time, but I think this has gained a bit of a following in more recent times.

I think I'm leaning towards:
Silent Hill
Gods Eater Burst
Ridge Racer Type 4
Jumping Flash or Syphon Filter

I already played God Eater Burst and is quite good. Ridge Race 4 has agreed quite well to and graphics looks nicely on the Vita.

I just watched some video of GEB and it seems right up my alley, so I think that's going to make the list. If RR4 is the entry I remember it was quite a leap graphically at the time, but might have had a reduced frame rate. Like I say, my memory ain't great.
