Yeah! All those computers in front of where you spawn (by the cryptarch) in the Tower are your vault.
You earn em after level 18 it unlocks a new crucible style playlist but of harder strikes, you can also get them for trading materials like spinmetal to the vanguard quartermaster
From what I saw, there aren't really any "locked" areas, besides the ones only used for story missions and strikes. There are doorways that you can't enter, which are used for spawn points for enemies, not as a locked area. There are still several places with extremely high level enemies, but they're not locked. You can run through them on your sparrow and survive (if you're very lucky).

So true. Unfortunately for me, I don't have a shotgun right now. Sold my old crappy one for parts.

Heh, I'm really not sure that's correct. I don't know if there are any "locked" areas actually. Enemies with I heard that enemies showing ??s are, I believe, just 5+ levels above you and can be returned to and dispatched. Can anyone confirm?

I want Sparrow racing so bad. Like Warthog racing in... Reach? 3? One of the Halo games.
Probably hard to set up though as they would either need unique maps, modified larger maps (moon one that was in the beta and that one on mars one where you can get the interceptor come to mind) or spawn you in on a planet and racer there.
I didn't know this either.

I'm certain the gunsmith will have one that you can easily take into PvP.
Bounties also give you Vanguard marks.
I don't really know what an example of that would be or how to tell...

Titans should look to New Monarchy. Armor has stats for Intellect (Fist of Fury cooldown lowered) and Strength (Storm fist cooldown lowered).

Man who's decision was it to disable matchmaking for Heroic strikes? That's just stupid, I understand (kinda) why they did this for raids, but why can't randoms handle strikes we've all done already just more difficult?

I play at odd hours sometimes but if anybody would like to add another person to their PS4 friends list go on ahead, PSN: LordHoag. If you ever see me on and want to shoot some things go on ahead and send me a message. I'm level 18 at the moment, hoping to push to 20 later tonight.
Is there a way to get different classes of armor from the tower? I had a good look but I couldn't find it. I've only ever earned one new class and I'm level 11. It's just a little rag by my feet. Yet I see people running around the Tower and elsewhere that are around the same level and have epic cloaks.

They normalize weapon damage, but you still have a ton more abilities / modifiers on armor / guns / etc. at higher levels.
You do definitely have an advantage at higher levels, regardless of what people say, although there is a lot of skill involved too.
In an extreme example of this I switched over to sun singer at 15 and immediately jumped into PVP. I had literally no abilities, including grenades and hovering. I figured it would give me a base load out at a minimum. I switched back after the first quick / brutal death.

Check out this list of end-game gear for Titans (second tab). As you can see, the 3 factions each have loot for different stats. Pick the one that makes the most sense for your class and play-style.

I (Titan) went FWC (intellect + discipline). Would rather have grenade cooldown as I use it CONSTANTLY (a lot more than melee), but still have the super cooldown as well.

Here's the Seraphim Vault that was able to be accessed via a glitch. You can see it's a full, detailed, intricately designed area. Because of areas like these, people assumed the Old Russia we played in the beta was just a slice of the real thing.

Minor warning I never pull the trigger on inviting others(because I hate the in game invite system why not be able to send a short tell about what you want to do? ), but I would love to do some strikes or team up for story missions, even if they are below my current level. If you see me rolling on patrol earth I am trying for spinmetel and glimmer so depending on when I started I might send you a tell back instead of grouping.

You're totally right, I was confusing myself. You can collect materials while doing patrols/bounties though and turning those in to the vanguard can get you marks.
How would one get there "legitimately"?
