I'm really not a fan of the light system so far. Before I was 20, I was specced somewhat specifically and kept putting on gear that loaded me up to nearly the max limit of discipline so I could get grenades back extremely fast. Now I just have to basically keep switching over to armor that is increasing my light stat, even if the other distributions aren't what I really want. I'm now a hodgepodge of stuff that is only giving me slight boosts to everything. I've also had to pretty much stop caring about the actual effects if the armor is improved. I wanted the quick reload for handcannons, but I have more light with something that makes my grenade arc overly long or something. Just stuff like that. To actually get armor that has the stat distribution I want AND more light is a crazy amount of luck.

Not to mention I'm in some kind of purgatory where my bar was about as far as it could go towards the next level and now I keep getting drops with less light that would only pull me back more.

Sorry I wasn't able to join when you sent me a message. Feel free to ask any other time though, so long as I'm not playing with some friends I'm always down for strikes.
 
What if they did a Fireteam vs Fireteam in any place on the map ?

For example, you are exploring with your team and see another fireteam on any place and start a fight with them and do a battle there...

On Moon, Old Russia, Venus...Whole map is your Battleground..

Using sparrows, caves, buildings etc...Fight until one of the fireteams are all dead...They could do a level filtering or balancing i dont know..

This would be perfect...

There is no reason to rush! Please don't rush! This game is all about exploring and taking your time, doing what you want and seeing the world and such.

You are not gonna miss anything by not being 20 yet. This game is meant to last and be played for a long time. Don't rush in!
 
I don't really understand why they made it so that green/blue armor engrams are always your class, yet for legendary (and assuming exotic) it has the chance to be the other classes. I know at some point I'll try them out anyway and I'll save them but that sucks. Unless green/blues can give other classes armors and I've just been really lucky, who knows.

You can level very quickly with bounties, especially PvP bounties.l And yes a lot of people are rushing for some reason cause they think the game will be over in 2 days or something.

Just believe me, the game has a lot more to offer than just "must get to the end now".

All I want is for all exotic gear + level 30 + class abilities maxed as soon as possible.

Some of us are rushing because we want to be as well geared as possible when the raid hits next week and so on lol. On that note I'm 25 now. Only have one legendary for my class though, and no weapons. Have had three legendary special weapon engrams though =(
 
Just hit level 20 last night and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all.

I have the story missions to complete, strike playlist, crucible and vanguard marks to now collect, new bounties to do, weekly heroic strikes and daily story missions to complete. All this added to choosing a faction and trying to get some light gear is giving me a real headache.

So wise and wonderful gaffers; what would you recommend doing to boost my light level? I just don't know where to start.

edit: oh and Xur is now in the tower and wants strange coins for exotic stuff... I don't have any strange coins though, sigh.

If you feel overwhelmed, don't try to progress, just go back and help other gaffers level up. It's fun to see people excited over getting to the next level and those levels may help with some of your existing bounties.

Not a bad shout. A few bounties I have are for lower level strike bosses so I may well do that. Need to choose a faction first though. I think Dead Orbit looks the best for my warlock.

I have been playing for 8 hours and am still only Level 8.

Which is, funnily enough, a level per hour. I have not touched the PvP side of things because I want to do that when I am level 20.

Did my first strike yesterday 'The Devil's Lair' with two other people and it was a fucking blast. I did die a lot at the start because the difficulty spike took some getting used to.

I absolutely loathed the huge HP pool on that Devil Walker. It took us 20 minutes with some stupid deaths in between because boredom hit me in some occasions.

I also prefer the slow pattern in which we gain loot and that almost every single piece you get is actually a substantial upgrade in comparison to Borderland's loot where 80% of the weapons that dropped were absolutely worthless apart from different aesthetics and elements.

I can not grasp why there are people who hate this game and talk about it in the review thread but I also ignore reviews ever since the likes of Nier and Wolfenstein TNO got rated below the 80%. Those were two of my most favorite games.
 
Ok let me see if I unterstood that correctly. Faction and Crucible gear require both Crucible marks but you can only increase reputation to one at the time?
 
Is earth only 4 Story mission , 1 strike and 1 patrol? thats it ?

All these territory (rocketyard kingswatch)!??

I have 4 coins. I am sure there are quite a few people with many coins depending on how long they have been playing the 20+ content.

And also, maybe you are more supposed to see what he has this time so you can save up for next time!

Once you hit level 18 I believe you can choose to do vanguard bounties or vanguard strikes while wearing a clock, bond or mark from one particular faction (dead orbit, FWC or new monarchy) they cost 2500 glimmer from the respective faction leaders in the tower.

Completing these bounties/strikes earns you reputation with that particular faction. Once you have leveled that faction up to level 3 you gain access to their arsenal and armour sets which are all level 20 and kick ass.

thanks for the quick response! how do the factions differ though? or are they all essentially the same? :)
 
Also I wanted to say that it's great that if you want to help out a friend that's lower level it doesn't hurt the game at all. Seems to cap your damage and if stuff drops it will be around your level like most engrams. Played with a lvl 8 friend while I'm above 20 and even got a legendary engram.

Do people already what gear is better? Crucible, Vanguard or Faction?
