This is my primary its only rare but damn if it doesn't hit like a run away train. I main Scout rifles and Hand Cannons primarily even in crucible....

Now at level 24 I am having real trouble finding better gear. I have not found anything better the whole day. That kinda sucks.

Still leveling up, but it's okay. Grenades are pretty lackluster, but I'm starting to get the hang of when and how to use the Melee and the Super. Looking forward to some of the later upgrades.
Does the class have anything as cool as the shoulder charge? Also can you damage enemies outside of the shield from the inside.

That Review thread....Jesus Christ

thinking of going Titan for my second character slot, waay too many Hunters in the wild, time to reduce their numbers

This has probably been asked already, and if so I do apologize, but how does it work when a higher level player pairs up with someone much lower for story missions?

I was lvl 15 and my son was lvl 4 and I was not hitting near as hard as I expected on the few story missions we tried together. To be clear, I joined his fireteam and he initiated the missions each time.

It's down to how the game handles weapon damage. The "attack" stat (the one that invariably goes up with higher leveled gear) doesn't actually dictate damage, the Impact stat does. Attack governs what percentage of damage is done to an enemy of a given Defense level. When Attack is sufficiently greater than defense, that number hits 100, and you stop doing additional damage with higher-Attack, same-Impact weapons.

Guys, is damage normalized in every PVP mode? Just played a round of that capture the relic mode (I'm lvl 11), and every time I ran into this one lvl 21 guy, he'd take me out first every single time. Even if I started shooting first, I could barely take down his shield and it felt like he killed me with 2-3 bullets. Is he that good or is something else going on? Btw, that guy played Warlock, he had AR.

Could have had an AR with an insanely high rate of fire plus add shaky net-code to that and you get insta killed.

Kind of baffled. Went to gamestop and there were already 4 preused copies of destiny(PS4). People give up on games too easily

Sorta. The Melee ability gives you an Overshield when you kill an enemy with it, and another ability drastically increases your reload speed while that shield is active. Check the wikis, they generally have class ability breakdowns.

And no, you can not shoot out of the shield.

Just wanted to share my thoughts on the game.

This might be the worst structured FPS campaigns I've ever played. Every level consists of have dinklebot hack a terminal or door, while you take out a horde. There's only like one level, where anything out of the ordinary happens. I'm really shocked at how poor the missions are, because I really like every Halo campaign aside Halo 2.

Almost every boss is pretty bad. Huge bullet sponges that stay stationary for the length of the fight. There are maybe three bosses that are slightly fun. Social features are weird as well. I don't understand why voice chat is only restricted to fire teams.

The story is also weirdly told. It's almost nonexistent until Venus. At that point it got a few chuckles out of me with some of the dialogue, but not much else. After that it becomes nonexistent again. The ending feel like the beginning of the second act in a movie.

And you wanna know something? I still enjoy this game a lot. The mechanics are spot on. Controls and gunlplay feel awesome(still wish this game had no ADS though) so blasting foes apart is fun as hell. The art and music( Marty:( ) are fantastic. I also see myself putting in like 100 hours into the MP. I can't stop playing strikes even if the bosses suck and I'm pretty excited for the upcoming content. This gives me hope for the future of the franchise. Hopefully Bungie takes a look at the structure of the game, and polishes it up so Destiny 2 can match the gameplay, art and music they put out in this game.

Has anyone gotten strange coins form Crucible? The strikes are fun, but I don't really want to do them over and over. And besides, the Heroic Weekly only gave me strange coins two out of three times.

The way the story is told in this game is ridiculously bad. And I'm not referring to the script.

Let's take a look this mission briefing early in the game:

As confusing as that sounds, these lines could've carried some weight if the concepts spoken of had been introduced elegantly before. This however is not the case. Prior to this briefing, there is no mention of what the "Shrines of Oryx" are or how they affect the player's path through the story. Osiris is literally introduced as a character in this briefing, with a voice actor that sounds confusingly similar to pretty much every generic patrol briefing that came before. The atrocious metaphorical mumbo jumbo that introduces this new threat is as abstract as the unexplained concepts of Light and Darkness. As the lines are uttered ominously in the game, they invoke nothing but laughter from me and my friends as we play through the game. There is no context, little build-up and no connective tissue between these missions.

"Well, many players don't care about the story. It shouldn't get in the way of the gameplay."

No, it shouldn't in a game like this. But for a game that borrows so much from established classics, why not tell the story the way it's told in some of the best games out there?

Metroid Prime had a beautiful way of telling its story without relying on secondary characters. The scanning mechanic told the story of an ancient race and its downfall in a subtle, engaging way that was welded into the rest of the gameplay seamlessly. Destiny would benefit from the concept of scanning lore throughout its worlds, as opposed to randomly placing props with no context. The scenery ends up feeling like a movie set, where everything is there to look cool and not much else.

Dark Souls showed us how a cryptic narrative could be woven through a loot game (which is what Destiny is). Having deep story bits tied to much of its loot, the player had a puzzle to put together which pretty much united the internet in search for meaning. Yes, I know the Grimoires draw from this, but instead of prompting me to go to bungie.net to read what the fuck is up with what I just found, why not have a system where a player could go to the cryptoarch and have him tell me how that item advances to story in the game? Instead, the cryptoarch right now just says generic archeology sound bites that have nothing to do with what you just traded him.

Yes, the game is abundant in sci-fi cheese, but so is most of sci-fi. What sets those other sci-fi stories apart is how they tell the story in an engaging way. In the end, Destiny doesn't seem to know how to tell it's story.

That one dude who explained how Main Missions are the ones with wings and the ones that are just stars are side missions explained a lot. I was looking for connections between all the missions but stuff like this one is supposed to just be stand alone.

Just got my first legendary engram as a level 23 doing Patrol on Earth for lousy 50 Reputation points.

And... yay, it's really a legendary! Thank god. Cryptarch rank 3, btw.

Thanks for the info! I'm a LVL 18 warlock at the moment, but read once you unlock subclasses at 15 when you start a new character you choose between the 2 and was thinking about running a defender class

Sorry for the poor quality pics, I'm currently playing the game on my 360 since my mates are still there.

Best looking shader I've found, by a large margin.

I keep seeing people talk about shaders, what is that? That's the filter you apply once you take a photo right?

No. Shaders are recolouring items that change the colour schemes of Guardian gear. The shader recolours every piece of armour you wear so that they look like a consistent set, instead of what just random pieces of armour you just put together.

I've found most shaders to be ugly as hell, the one above is the best I've seen, and probably the best I'll ever see. I ain't changing it.

So i finally got a legendary drop, and guess what... it's a Warlock item. What the fuck?! I have no interest in playing that class at all. All drops up until now have been Titan drops, but this one just had to be some random bullshit that I didn't even know about the game. Talk about major anti-climax.

nwdb.jpg

Don't get me started on this bullshit. Every single piece of Legenday gear I've gotten I cannot wear, because it's for the other classes.

It's utter bollocks. I have no interest in ever playing as a Warlock or Hunter, I just want my Legendary Titan gear ffs

i heard something about rasputin and the moon and russia.

yeah i've got nothing. having a lot of fun playing through it with my cousin tho but you can tell they barely even half-assed the story in the campaign.

better presentation and cutscenes for the sequel (or expansions) I hope.

Level 9 and not a single cloak. I found dozens in the Beta.

Go to the cryptarch and I buy class item. The what I did to get mys first cloak.

I have absolutely no idea of what happened in the story. Like no idea at all. I don't even know if anybody had names. The only game that had story that I couldn't follow as bad as this was Bayonnetta.

Hey Kittens, I just got a strange coin from rumble a moment ago!

Was pretty disappointed as I really doubt ill get enough of those to really make use of them.

I feel rude for saying this, but the game has been out for like, 3 or 4 days. You'll be OK.

E: Also, PSN ID nicoga3000. I'm only level 7, but if anyone is down to do shit this weekend, add me. Need more folks to play with.

Does anyone know what's different between clash on the planet screen and clash in crucible???

The thing on the left seems to be a rotating match type with Bonus XP over the standard crucible.

I am sure this makes me part of the problem but if I got a piece of legendary gear for another class it would make me want to level that class :X

Nicoga are you on PS4? :D hawkian on psn here!

This guy saying "I'm going bladedancer" before every arc blade is amusing. I'm thinking of picking up that exotic pulse rifle, but I know for a fact I'm going to buy a sniper, so I'll sit and wait.

Is there anyway to turn off the "sticky reticle"? I hate fighting that when I am aiming at one enemy and another enemy gets closer and the reticle tries to center on the enemy I'm not aiming at. Really pisses me off.

nice, just bought a blue rare hand cannon from the shop before leaving for work.saving up the glimmer finally comes in handy. and funny enough, i been leaning on the vita for repay more and more BUT the Xperia Z3 smartphone has remote play too, somight have to check that smartphone up ;)

aww yes, got my cryptarch to lvl 5 and get 2 legendary engrams. One turned out to be 3 motes of light and the other was a legendary sinper Prudence II. Fuck yeah, that makes 2 legendary weapons today.
