Overhyped is not a criticism of the game, it's a criticism of you
And honestly, the game has way more features then Borderlands had.
1. You can avoid every single goomba in Mario Bross. Each and every one.
2. When you are controlling Mario, you can also avoid all pipes.
3. Unlike the scenarios in the other drinking game, these aren't annoying.
So it might be even lower...![]()

If only the people saying things like "Just go back to Diablo 3, it's the better loot game" were playing what Diablo 3 was at launch before a lead change and two years of improvements.
I've already come up with some names for the Halo MCC Ot
Halo MCC |OT| The best Bungie game of the year.
One of the worst years in gaming ever:
Watch_Dogs... bland and lackluster.
Titanfall... never quite became the next big thing.
Destiny... overproduced missed opportunity.
Witcher 3, Arkham Knight delayed 2015.
Most anticipated current-gen game is a remake of last year's most anticipated game.
Keep pushing your anti-Halo/Titanfall agenda, Nib. There's probably still a few people that haven't caught on to what you're doing yet.
If anything the "angst" is coming from Halo and Bungie fans disappointed that this new direction amounted to something that doesn't live up to what Bungie is great at.
The hell are you talking about? I am responsible for the game being overhyped? Did you even watch any of the dev or preview videos? I was scoffing at their delusions of grandeur back then--even the title of the game reeked of pretension.
The game is a disappointment to me. I didn't for a second think that it was going to be a game-changer in the genre, regardless of what Bungie wanted me to believe. But an instance-based MMO-lite shooter? Load screens for every transition in a world (really, a collection of stages) that was supposed to be explorable? The same mission format, over-and-over?
Nope.
Moreover, I was pointing out how ridiculous your example is. Comparing a 1985 2D platform game to a 2014 3D shooter? Did Nintendo make a bunch of promises that they didn't deliver on with Mario Bros?
Shame on me for believing Bungie could even come close to delivering what they promised.
EDIT:
Perfect.
Not necessary, and this is a disingenuous comparison for a variety of reasons.
Just tell the people judging your tastes to fuck off. If you're enjoying the game, their opinion on your opinion doesn't matter.
This game is not Halo
it will never be Halo
This is Destiny
and then what? why does that matter? Diablo 3 is a good game right now.If only the people saying things like "Just go back to Diablo 3, it's the better loot game" were playing what Diablo 3 was at launch before a lead change and two years of improvements.

I played Diablo III day 1 and only managed to get up to Inferno Act 3 before rage quitting.
That was still better than what we're getting in Destiny now.
The thing is, Diablo III had the better foundation to be perfected with patches and an expansion pack. Destiny is more flawed at its core. It needs an entire sequel, not just a few quick fixes and "more content".

Love and hate at the extremes, with a decent spectrum of everything else in-between.Can someone please sum up GAF's reaction to this game?
ok then. Why did YOU get overhyped for this game. Was it because of "marketing" that "lied" to you (which I still haven't seen any lies)
Dont forget tropical freezeMario Kart 8 + DLC, 2014 saved.

Metro Gamecentral have just put their review up:
http://metro.co.uk/2014/09/12/destiny-review-the-final-verdict-4866002/
Sum up:
This game is not Halo
it will never be Halo
This is Destiny
Perfection!
Tbh, the game actually looks pretty good. Much better than I was expecting. While I seem to enjoy Destiny more than most people here, wouldn't it be funny if Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare ends up being the best shooter of the year? It honestly looks pretty good to me.
Can someone please sum up GAF's reaction to this game?
From people like you and EventHorizon who don't even own the game you mean? By your own admission the closest you got to experiencing it was watching YouTube videos. Come on now...
Nah I would argue that Destiny is some where between vanilla D3 and current D3. Destiny still has a ton of potential and can be made a much better game through patches.I played Diablo III day 1 and only managed to get up to Inferno Act 3 before rage quitting.
That was still better than what we're getting in Destiny now.

I was never and am not hyped for this game at all, I couldn't care less about it, it's just the only thing coming out right now so I'm interested in the reactions to it because I like video games.
Sitting there telling me that a developer or publisher cannot over hype a game is completely false. People can obviously get personally excited for anything far too much but don't try to tell me that the other end of the equation can't prod that along, that is a big load of horse shit.
This is true and I found Destiny to be a bit boring. Well-crafted, but boring.
I didn't have any hype.
Sometimes, people just don't enjoy a game. It happens.
Cheers.I was over there today to answer some questions, and yes, it is so much better. And maybe I'll engage in it if it ever seems appropriate to and get back to being comfortable there.
I think the release blowup just needs to die down a tad, which is probably why a few weeks to a month is typically why GAF seems to go into 'backlash' mode. It's not that people are necessarily hating the game, but that's when those things are able to breathe a bit on their own away from the excitement.
Edit: I saw it right after I got that post out, Dax. You're still the best.
How can you accurately review a game when content is on a scheduled release week after week?
Can someone please sum up GAF's reaction to this game?
That's a decent analogy I think. I don't remember if AC1 was quite this shallow and lacking, but I would say that Destiny has an absolute ton of potential for a brilliant sequel.
Yeah a lot of people feel this way. A lot of people are getting the meh feeling to. I don't think anyone would call it a bad game.Reviews be damned, I'm having a blast with this game.
I do wonder how much of this angst is from leftover Bungie went PS exclusive content and marketing salt that has perpetuated forums and social media for so many months.
Yeah it can go even lower.
Not a lot, although it's arguably that they implied in a number of ways that the game would have more content than it did.what exactly did they lie about?
Wow.I've already come up with some names for the Halo MCC Ot
Halo MCC |OT| The best Bungie game of the year.
Good it should be 74. Being 80+ is an insult to Wolfenstein (78) and Metro Redux (81) far better shooters
I've been watching streamhouse on twitch... everytime I look at the screen dude is hiding in a room popping a couple of shots at some boss for like 30 mins...
Not what I would call good game design.
