Ok. I'll agree to disagree. Sorry you are not enjoying it. I would give it an 85 out of the box as is. I think that is a very fair legit score, I see the game entering the 90's within 3 months for me with additional content and surprises.

Destiny is the first game in a while that leaves me feeling like there is some magic or something still to discover in the game. It seems mysterious to me which is rare in the age of the internet. I like that.

I'm glad you're enjoying it, good for you! But the game has just been one huge disappoint for me, there's little content and that content is very repetitive.

The Crucible may not be balanced, but it is the most fun I have had in a mp shooter in years. I love how they implemented the radar and the tension it brings on some of the maps. I love this game!

Any review that does not include the raid, which is apparently a pretty large hunk of the end game content, is incomplete. Which is fine - they can just review the portion of the game they played. It's not the full game, though, even as launched.

It cant be that large a chunk, once you know what youre doing its supposed to take less than three hours to complete. And any review published in the week between the game launching and the raid being added certainly is a review of the full game as launched

I shouldn't have to tell you this but calling people retards for any reason is not acceptable in civilized, enlightened society. Hell, it's not even appropriate on Gaf!
I kid, I kid!

When we start living in a world that even remotely resembles an enlightened society, I'll stop using that word. You can count on it.
For now, I'll continue calling it like I see it. ;)

Nope, you review what's there on day 1, that content there out of the box is Destiny. The reviews are complete.

"what comes in the box" is not even a relevant idea in most modern games anymore though. There are things like day one patches that fix issues that didn't get addressed before publishing (pretty much everything now), post-release upgrades that can totally alter the game (things like ACIV's 1080p patch, and ISS frame lock/photo mode) and games like DESTINY that are built to constantly evolve and add expansion and post-release content (some free and some paid, destiny has both)

You can "review" what's there, but you cannot say this is all there is and it's over. Games are no longer static.

I like the idea that an engram has a slight chance to be better, but I really don't like that it might be worse once encoded. It's just too much of a bummer when that happens with legendary drops.

People have been a little too eager to shit on this game since prior to release. They will diss this game but the very same people will be saying how great the next shooter is that does nothing different then this game. Except the next shooter won't have this skill system, classes, specials, or scope in any of its content.

It has been the oddest thing I've come across. But oh well. Game is providing tons of fun for me and I look down and see a shit ton I still have to do. Today is the first time I've seen someone show that the story missions get insane lv 28 difficulty settings. Can't wait to play these missions again with that sort of challenge.

I've run into 3 missions I did not like so far. The others have been very fun.

Honestly think the Beta was a bad move in retrospect. The Alpha was the perfect length and didn't give up the whole first quarter of the game. Also I find it's much more fun in bursts since I can't just sit around for 12 hour stretches anymore with career and familiy obligations.

It's possible to agree with most if not all of the criticisms of the game and still enjoy it for what it is. My expectations of this game were heavily tempered by what I played of the alpha and beta which were an accurate representation of the final game.

Just sayin'.

Then at what point do you say is enough and you review a game? If you adopt that mind set, you'll never review a game because there'll always be another patch on the way. Reviewing a game on day 1 is the time when you know everyone will experience the same content and when people care the most, so it's easiest and best to review it then.

Finished the game today and set off on my first day of dailies and grinding missions. I have to hand it to the game, I'm still having fun. I look forward to "finishing" my Titan so I can move on to either a Hunter or Warlock.

Whoa on of the ghost fragments I got for the vex.

Creepy and I want to know more.

This would make an awesome book.

If they nerfed his health or removed the servitor it would be fun, but as it stands, even at level 22, it's just a giant bullet sponge pain IMO. Better than Phogoth though.
You need team work. I could show you how to deal with him.

Nice. Well, I was sort of trying to tell you in a roundabout/funny/polite way that it is really offensive to many people. It doesn't seem like you get it though so I'll just say that it will cause you to be banned eventually if you continue to use it here. Maybe Gaf is way more enlightened than I ever thought...

anyone else feel like venus is too "messy"? the city areas are nice, but when I get into the terrain and vex parts the environment just feels noisy, distracting and i end up losing my bearings fast. there's just way too much geometry competing for my attention

Favorite story moment. My guardian: "How can we find the awoken?"

Motherfucker, you ARE an awoken.

You can only get a gold reward once a day.

Your race is awoken but you were just some dead dude on Earth actually. How would you wake up in a new period of time and immediately know where the home of your people is?

Now that wouldn't make sense

Anyone else getting that red bar on the bottom of the screen that says "contacting Destiny servers"? It keeps popping up, and I got kicked from the game a few times too. I can't tell if it's on my end or theirs.

I read on some Destiny Wiki that the Awoken on Earth left the others long ago and that the Queen doesn't treat them any different than outsiders.

see? this is what I mean, why can't the game slowly ease us into backstory instead of just letting dinklebot spew out some tidbits

Had a strike team last night of randoms 22 23 and 23 and without any voice chat or coordination at all we managed to - at least 4 separate times - cycle our supers and utilize the orbs of light so well that we basically were in skull fucking/death incarnate mode of going crazy with supers for like 2 straight encounters.

Was a thing of beauty. There was much dancing to be had.

Yes .... But the Guardian In the story is asking where is the Awoken planet / home since the collapse. Why would he/she wake up and automatically know where the Awoken are since the events of the game ?
I don't know, but I also haven't read up on any lore not provided by the game itself. But you'd think an Awoken would know where their home was - at least from the time when they were still alive.

I kinda wish we spent more time checking out the planets. The game rushes you through the zones and through the story. I have to keep going back and wander around to see if there is anything else to see and do.

Sorry to keep plugging it (not affilated with it in any way), just want to mention www.destinylfg.net again as a way to put a fireteam together.
Thank you! It's retarded that I have to use a third party site to get a strike going, fix this shit bungie pls. Finished the weekly with two people from that site, was much harder than I expected.

Does anything at all decent drop from the later game gold chests? Anything of note from the Mars boxes? Considering doing a treasure hunt tonight first thing when I get home...

That's not what the Guardian is asking. He's asking where the awoken are NOW, not long ago before all these events occurred. So the question makes sense in the context.

I'm gonna repost this from the last page since it was at the bottom: Anyone else getting that red bar on the bottom of the screen that says "contacting Destiny servers"? It keeps popping up, and I got kicked from the game a few times too. I can't tell if it's on my end or theirs.
