Just finished a challenging but fun Moon Strike with a buddy and a random (who was pretty good himself - thanks, Prosinecki, wherever you may be!)

This game in co-op is awesome.

Ditto, I agree. Plus, we should add a page for high level PvE so we can add each for weekly strikes and raids.

That's an idea I can get behind. I'm in NGAF EU 1 but there's only 31 active clan members in total, plus the clans don't actually make meeting up any easier. For now the best plan seems to be dropping your tag in the OT with whatever playlist you're looking to do when you get on.

Just done a few levels on Venus. Nearly level 15 and I can start dashing around stabbing things.

Bounties are awesome; so useful in helping with ranking up. Turning in a couple at a time and getting 7500 XP is a great help!

Found a Rare cloak, old friends are back online, and the Vex offer a different proposition to the Hive and Fallen. I LOVED the Moon, some of the scenery is just awesome. The Hellmouth is amazing!

Haven't done the Summoning Pits yet; there's four of us that are playing regularly, and guess who's the odd one out?

I have one that's called Bloodpact, it's gold and white. Looks nice too me...especially with a black cloak.

Yeah I saw that one drop to the guy below me in the Crucible earlier and felt my grip on the controller tighten. It looked like it would do some awesome things with my cloak, hoping to get my hands on it tonight.

When do Nightfall Strikes unlock?

I think it was about level 23-24. You won't have much hope without a few more levels though as it defaults to a level 28 challenge.

Really can't decide on a color.

Purple for sure.

Is it pointless to do pvp at level 5?

It's going to be hard and you'll likely get pretty frustrated unless you got a lucky gear drop with a proper weapon.

But youll still get experience and have a chance at even more drops, so that could make it worth it.

I waited until level 7 or 8, didnt start having fun until about level 10.

Does the loot drop system hate Auto Rifles?
Ive been playing with one since level one and every fucking gun drop is a scout rifle or a pulse rifle.
There arent even good ones in Clint Eastwoods gun shop.

Add it to the list of shit I dont like about this game but refuse to quit till I see how the game "begins" at 20.

I had a hard time getting good auto rifle drops for a while too, but now that i'm level 20+ I seem to be getting them more frequently than the others. RNG though, so your mileage will obviously vary.

I just got ship schematics from a chest on the Moon. The name is "Laughing Behind Your Back."

Mixing and matching some armor lead me to the following numbers for post 20 levels:

Level 21: 2 Light
Level 22: 32 Light
Level 23: Greater than 40 but probably less than 54 (thanks Beaulieu!)

I'm level 22 and finding items with better light is kind of a bitch :(

Ditto. Been stuck there for a little bit. Gotten quite a few rare items, but none of them have been of use to me.

I'll try to set up a preliminary page sometime this evening. I find most people are not very willing nor inclined to join a fireteam and instead want to fly solo for strikes. Seems odd to me?

If I were to buy Dead Orbit rank 3 weapons on one character, could my alts use it them as well without having to grind rep?

just reached 24 (see image above) and I have 54 light

What's the best rep to go for? I have 100 crucible marks and 37 vanguard. I'm level 1 vehicle and vanguard.

Is it easier/faster to get rep with a different faction? What about the differences in gear?

I'll almost always jump in with whoever invites me. I don't care what you're doing, pvp, strike, farming, floating in orbit. I hate to play alone.

I kind of get it since I get a good bit of time to play in a day but only a few hours chance to use the mic which is pretty much after midnight exclusively, so I feel kind of useless joining a fireteam when I can't put my mic on and have to walk away from a good number of offers. I wish there was some way I could display my available hours for mic use on the same screen the other players use to send the invites from. It would help avoid a lot of briefly awkward moments or constant back and forward messages.

Nope, you review what's there on day 1, that content there out of the box is Destiny. The reviews are complete.
Then at what point do you say is enough and you review a game? If you adopt that mind set, you'll never review a game because there'll always be another patch on the way.
As much as I like the game, I feel this and other similar responses are being too defensive over Destiny's criticisms. Considering games are always reviewed with whatever content they're shipped with, I don't see why Destiny should be given a pass for any sort of delayed review.

The folks behind Destiny should be held accountable for the game's shortcomings. The flaws should be known regardless of if they're fixed in the future or not. Saying a review is incomplete without a raid is similar to games being reviewed before the first DLC pack that includes playable content is added being incomplete as well.
I disagree pretty much across the board here, and I hope I might be able to offer some perspective.

It's nothing like claiming a game's DLC need be considered for a review; if anything, that DLC should itself be reviewed for value after it is released, on its own.

If you want to argue that a review can be totally complete without any mention of the Queen's Wrath, whatever that is going to be, then I'm on board. But if Destiny has "grabbed" you the way it apparently has me, you'll understand that the first raid is a crucial piece, if not the most important piece of content in considering the total value proposition offered for the game's asking price.

Ghaleon's right on the money- any review that does not factor in the quality of the raid is incomplete- but that's okay. Game journalists absolutely have the right to release incomplete reviews in the interest of expediency. but any such review will be obviously less than ideal in helping me make a buying decision with regard to this product.

I'll clarify, and bear with me because I'm still in the process of really wrapping my mind around what Bungie is going for here myself.

As a consumer who attempted to be an informed one before making this purchase, I knew that there was a raid included in the package before creating my character. I knew barely any details about it, but I knew it existed. It was, and is especially now, an important part of what made my character advancement so compelling. I knew that from the minute I started gaining XP, I'd be working my way toward a challenging, 6-player cooperative instance that required me to gear up for it to even stand a chance. I understood this even before knowing how the level caps and Light worked. The entire structure of the game is design to addictively funnel you toward it, while providing frequent, variable positive reinforcement along the way. The experience of preparation for this raid is enjoyable because it exists; I'm not improving my character in the hopes that future content will at some point be released that will reward my efforts, I'm doing it because I know I paid for a specific encounter coming in a few days that will do so.

The degree to which this raid is or isn't a compelling, satisfying, creative, ultimately rewarding experience will have a substantial impact on my estimation of the game's overall quality. That's not to say that a review can't estimate its quality without this piece, but that estimate can easily and accurately be described as incomplete. From my perspective this isn't a point of contention or opinion, it's just something obvious to be acknowledged. If I'm reading a review and it is unable to include the reviewer's experience with this content, it is incomplete. I can't read it and just go, "oh, okay, this is a whatever/10 game but without the raid," because it has to be part of the whatever.

You gotta understand. I can't stand this shit in RPGs. Bungie essentially added in a streamlined version of your typical WoW gear-tier treadmill. The idea that content exists which I am gated from and can't access until reaching some arbitrary metrics is ordinarily something I can't stand, let alone find compelling. But for whatever reason- and I do have theories- I'm pretty into it here. I want to make my character better so I can do this super-hard content. To say that the game can be completely judged without considering that content itself is lunacy from my perspective. Maybe in an MMORPG, a review could be considered adequate without including the highest-end content, because a player might be expected to play for months without even the chance to experience it for the first time. But we're talking about something people will be doing on Tuesday.

The idea that saying any such review is incomplete is some sort of defense or hand-waving against criticism is hilarious to me. I can't stress this enough: if the raid is bad, any potential review score I might give the game would "go down," without a doubt. If it is compelling, it might "go up." Either way, it's only at that point I'd feel comfortable even assigning a score. And even more importantly, having this complete assessment will be critical to my decision to continue playing the game further, and most importantly from Bungie's perspective, plonk down money on any future DLC.

If someone says the reviews that exist are incomplete, it doesn't have to mean "every 7 out of 10 should really be an 8 out of 10 because it doesn't count the raid!" It's just... the case. They're not complete because something very important to how I'd rate the game's quality is missing, full stop.

That moon strike, that last room jesus, took us a while.

NO wipes but a LOT of close calls. Have to admit though as a Titan, striker I feel pretty useless on these encounters.... :(
