So for anyone who has looked at all of the weapon stats for each clan, should I stick with the crucible and rank up with them or switch to Dead Orbit, FWC, or New Monarchy?

Basic plot of Halo (1) Crash land on space donut after running away from aliens. Meet up with survivors and cool military guys, learn what your are on (halo, built by old ass aliens, designed to blow stuff up, also has a bunch of different aliens that are super bad on it), travel about getting a thing to put somewhere or something (forgot this part), Snowy bit with purple penis planes, end bit, drive jeep while halo blows up and go into a ship and go home.

I think.

No one played Oni so no one cares.

I tried to play Oni once back in the day. The only thing I remember was the horrible controls.

Looking at some of these builds is making me think I will never go into Iron Banner unless I've got some if you by my side and then I will go hide in a corner and cry myself to sleep why you guys take care of business.

Bungie have never been good at story.
If someone asked you to tell them the basic plot of any of the halo's, you would be just as lost.
If someone asked you to tell them the basic story of Oni, your brain would probably implode.

They're all super forgettable, even though the halo lore is actually quite deep, because the story mode is paper thin to guide you to the next mission and nothing more.
You kind of touch on this, but the great strength of Halo's story has always been that's it's simple on the surface but very deep if you care to dig into the lore. If you couldn't care less about the plot of your pew pew game, great. If you like intricate lore with tons of layers to peel away, great. Both kinds of players are catered to in Halo.

Mars would be my favorite location if the Cabal weren't such boring enemies. They're like the Halo brutes without any of the amusing dialog. Would be falling asleep at this point were it not for their boisterous themesong.

Anyone know if the Bladedancer invisibility takes you off radar in PVP?

Could be useful for Control.

it does.

Thank you!

Just got my first Legendary Engram. I'm giving 100-1 odds it actually gives me a Legendary item. I'm thinking a green Heavy Weapon is in my future.

Fake Edit: Holy crap, it was an Exotic helmet! And for my class! It's a miracle! Praise be to RNGesus!

P.S. Level 24 is at 54 Light. So that makes it:

Level 21: 20 Light
Level 22: 32 Light
Level 23: 43 Light
Level 24: 54 Light

Ohhhh

The structure of the lore/story missions makes sense once you play through the campaign from the beginning and realize the laurels are the story and the other missions are lore.

Yeah, no. The story in Halo makes a lot more sense, and is far more compelling than anything offered here. I'd actually rate Halo as one of the few shooters with a genuinely interesting story to tell.

EDIT: To clarify, I followed Destiny's story just fine (mostly). It still felt wildly disconnected.

ugh, i've gotten 3 legendary engrams and all 3 have been shitty rare weapons what the fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkk you lucky sob

Sorry to the homie Ronin-Edo for abandoning you after wiping that moon strike like 8 times in a row. My hands are cramping up. Been playing too long today. #OLDGAF

Don't think too bad of me. Gonna go farm something other than a mediocre HC to pew pew Phogoth with tomorrow. Try again later.

Well, you have to consider that actually gaining the Rep and Marks allows you to custom tailor your gear stats to support the build you want to run. You can definitely just wait for drops and you may get plenty, but there's absolutely no guarantee that it's going to actually compliment your build. So while you may technically be geared enough for Nightfall missions or Vault of Glass... if the stats don't support your Build sufficiently, you won't be operating at the best efficiency that you can.

Ideally.. you would use what you can from drops while continuing to get Rep and Marks so that you'll have a varied set of gear to choose from.

True, that's what I was thinking as well. On top of the drops being random, the different traits are too. Atleast buying them from the vendors you can hand pick which ones suite your play style. I guess instead of just marathoning and grinding marks like I was going to, I'll just let them come naturally as I play and hopefully I'll get some lucky drops along the way

The Shingen-E is ridiculously stable and I don't even have the mod to max out its stability. It''s great against bosses. You can easily pump a full magazine worth of critical hits

I really need friends on XB1 who are into PvP. Most people on my friends list play nothing but strikes, it's killing me. GT = kittens dx!

Edit : Also, has anyone figured out how to get exotic bounties yet? I can't find solid info.

Hi GAF. I am a bit clueless about how this light system works.

I already got my titan to the level 22, but I am unable to further customize my loadout, yet, there are 8 unreacheable points to further tailor my playstyle.

This irks me. I guess they will raise the xp level cap with the upcoming dlc in december, rendering the grind to get the best legendary level 20 gear useless pretty soon. If this is their carrot on a stick to keep me playing for months to come, my burnout with this game will come sooner than I expected.

I'd actually rate Halo as one of the few shooters with a genuinely interesting story to tell.

Not really man, most of the actually interesting stuff is told in the books/comics, the storylines as presented in the games are pretty generic and forgettable. I'd say Halo 1 and Reach have really solid storylines because they were tight and focused. 2 and 3 are all over the place. I actually really like Arbiter's story in Halo 2, his missions are actually the most interesting, but as soon as it gets back to chief bam it becomes bland and boring.

I'm not arguing that Destiny's story is better/more interesting, it's not. Just saying that Bungie has never been excellent at storytelling, which is why it's so surprising that people expected oscar quality writing from Destiny.

Like with Halo, the interesting bits of Destiny's lore comes from outside the game, check out those Grimore cards, a lot of this stuff is pretty well thought out.

And that's really what you should do. Play the stuff that you enjoy and try to focus on just having fun and/or getting better and however the loot falls, it falls. In the meantime, you'll be earning Rep and Marks and will eventually have what you need to advance.

It's when players focus too much on gear and vertical advancement that the RNG Gods fickleness can induce negative reactions.

Explaining Destiny's story in detail seems like quite a challenge.

I've seen the Grimoire cards, yeah. I like them, but they should really be in the game. Plus, the Story cards feature what appears to be actual dialogue cut from the game, and that just fills me with RAGE. Why on Earth (or the Moon, or Venus, or Mars) would Bungie write dialogue and hire top-tier talent to voice it and then apparently elect to put none of it in the game? Madness.

As to Halo, eh. Different strokes I guess. I found the interactions between Chief and Cortana, as well as supporting characters like Sergeant Johnson, strong enough to carry the admittedly somewhat generic plot. It's solid storytelling, even if the story beats aren't that strong in and of themselves. That's all I was really expecting from Destiny, and that's what it categorically failed to deliver.

Finally my second post on GAF! I was hoping to get approved in time for OT1 but that didn't happen.

Anyway. Absolutely loving this game, I hit level 24 today on my Titan and I still haven't beaten the story missions. Shoulder Charge in PvP is one of the most satisfying things I've ever felt. Did the level 26 strike Playlist today, was actually a breeze we got the Fallen Strike on Venus.

Really hoping the enjoyment holds out, but loot grinds are addicting for me so I plan on putting many hours into it!

If anyone wants to do Strikes or Crucible on XB1 add me. My GT is Kyouko la Kill, Defender Titan on Strikes and Striker on PvP. A final note, Salvage is really really fun.

I guess I'll put it this way much calmer. I'm not getting any better gear to lvl up. Hell I don't care if it's green as long as get more light. I feel like I'm not progressing. And that's frustrating to me.

I'm more frustrated at the lvl system Bungie has made. It doesn't matter if the game just came out 3 days ago. If this is the way it's gonna continue. Then maybe it's just not the game for me. *shugs*
