Ugh, didn't want to see that for my one of my last games of the night in crucible... group of friends boosting multi-kills in rumble. One of them got 2 rare drops at the end too including a strange coin. Bleh.

I gotta ask, why did Bungie think that 3 people fire teams was a good idea? Is it just because there are only 3 main classes at the moment?

Here I am level 20. With two level 21s.

I join them in the weekly strike.

How naive was I.

The Electric Eye/Septic Prime motherfucker wasnt even the problem. It's the mob of enemies. They can kill you in like 2-3 shots. We were forced to repeat that thing like 5 times before the strategy of hiding in that little room to the side started to pay off.

Funny enough it took us less time in that that in the 22 Vanguard Strike. Those enemies are impossible once again, and the Nexus' shots could kill us in like 3-4 hits. Then after dying a couple of times we found a strategy of one guy staying above to prevent the mission from failing, and the other two of us just constantly dying over and over again and getting a couple of shots at the Nexus.

I shit you not it must've taken us like 30-40 minutes to beat him with this strategy. If the Vault of Glass is worst than this for level 25 people, I can see why you'd need a halfway point. Fuck that difficulty spike. And now I'm level 21 sure, but more than 3/4s of my gear is still <= level 18.

Good thing is that I now have 6 strange coins. Two questions:

1. Can somebody confirm that we ONLY need strange coins to buy the exotic shit from the vendor? I hope there's no 'X level 3 required' bullshit.

2. Where do you guys recommend farming strange coins? I know public events and the weekly strike are options, anything else though?

1. Checking right now... Just Coins. No Rep requirements.

2. So far Coins don't seem farmable outside of the Weekly maybe? They're pretty random everywhere else. They may end up even being random in the Weekly since it's been less than a week since the game is out.

Fake Edit: Highlighting the "Reputation Details" on Agent Of The Nine and it says, "Strange Coin. Obtained by completing weekly challenge activities." So Weekly is the only way to "farm" it. Which goes without saying means it's going to take awhile to farm.

Barring someone finding a generous drop rate somewhere.

Does it strike anyone here as funny that people are using the OT thread as a LFG finder because this 'social' game makes it harder than it should be to group?

I got coins from Blue Engrams randonmly

I gotta ask, why did Bungie think that 3 people fire teams was a good idea? Is it just because there are only 3 main classes at the moment?

They said that they experimented with a bunch of different numbers in terms of Fireteams and that 3 was the "sweet spot" for things like Strikes in terms of difficulty and effectiveness.

So.. basically less would be ineffective for designs and more would be too easy. I'm more inclined to believe that, that was based more on level design rather than encounter design.

Bullshit. They don't need to fake you out. If they want legendaries to be rarer then make them more rare but don't show one and have it be something else.

It's not a "fake out." It's a random chance. There's also a chance to get a BETTER quality item from a lower quality Engram. It's a gamble, plain and simple. And Engrams are not at all meant to be the primary form of gearing your character.

Yeah, looks like everything Destiny was done in threes; three classes, the logo has three sides, all modes has players in multiples of three... I guess it is a thematic thing, but most groups are four, so I really hope we get one more class and 4 man fire teams for Destiny 2^^

I don't understand the loot complaints. I guess playing a lot and getting lucky is something I'm just willing to do. Though I'm a Crucible focused person -- I'd get really sick of grinding strikes over and over.

Ha same here, although I did find my perfect emblem, just hoping she gets some more shaders.
Yup. I'm in the exact same boat.

So then the color makes no difference so it still doesn't make sense.

The color does make sense as it represents the odds of what you'll get. I get that you're frustrated but honestly it's been less than a week and the game is designed to last 10 years or more. Did you really think that you'd be able to max out your character in less than a month?

Edit for clarification: The IP is meant to last 10 years+.. but that still means that the first game needs to last long enough to keep the interest of the playerbase until the next sequel.

I finally beat the weekly and boy was it tough. That arc damage doesn't mess around.

Also got the helmet from Xur. Feels good

Keep defending shitty design. It's not about maxing my character. I guarantee they'll change it.

Fuck sakes, finally got a legendary from a engram and it's for a hunter class? The fuck?

Bungie said they wanted us to earn the gear that's why there isn't any trading? Then don't do this random class bullshit. I can't trade it and I don't want to make a Hunter just to equip it.

Sorry, just feeling frustrated as all the every other legendary engrams have given me rares and this was the first actual legendary I got.

I should just go into the Crucible and get an exotic, might make me feel better.

I don't get the hate, but maybe it's because I'm not rushing through it/capped out yet. It could also be that I'm more casual these days. I get immense enjoyment out of just doing those patrol missions and getting surprised by the public events.

Looks like a donkey or giraffe head.

Looks like a horse head to me.

You're calling it shitty design, yet Diablo, Torchlight, Path of Exile, and damn near every MMO currently running uses a similar or the same design.

Your guaranteed gear progression is meant to be done through gaining Reputation with the Factions and earning Marks to buy the gear. Loot is completely random and that includes the extra gamble of Engrams.

For Diablo atleast, Blizzard rectified that issue(Because loot isn't tradeable, why not increase the drop rates of items by alot more?) regarding loot that it's become an enjoyable skinner box.

just after a bit of advise.

I bought the digital US Guardian a Edition to play on my UK account. I can see the dlc has been downloaded on the US account but I don't see it on the UK one.

Will out still be there? Can I still use it?

Starting to feel the lack of content complaints. Grinding the same half dozen strikes for 2-3 marks a pop when it takes 65 to buy anything worthwhile, nevermind that marks reset every week.

No they don't and that's the issue. In diablo if a legendary drops it's a fucking legendary. That's all I have an issue with. I dont think they should be more common.

Marks don't reset, you can only get 100 a week. That cap resets. They add up.

people tend to switch weapons with the map type and tempo of the game. if i'm on twilight gap, i'm not going to be the guy without a shotgun. the moon? bastion? very different. maps like burning shrine or exodus blue offer a bit of everything so you'll see a lot more diverse loadouts.

I honestly wish that were true. Diversity in the lobbies I play in is seeing an auto rifle that isn't a Shingen or Cydonia.

Yeah. But we can't blame the players for using what works. I tried dropping my Shingen for a few other things tonight and went from a 2/3-ish KDR in control to a .5-ish. Very little beats the Shingen right now. :/

You're both talking about Diablo 3. Which is only designed the way it is because Blizzard changed it's goals (but that's another discussion entirely).

To address your comment specifically Blackflag, if you get a Legendary in Destiny, it's a Legendary. Engrams are another thing entirely. An extra gamble.

I'm playing the story with a new character and I can't find the Temple of Crota on the moon for the life of me. The waypoint says it's at a spot that it's not at.

Intellectually, I get that. Psychologically, it was a terrible decision to color a loot crate/engram/something higher than the loot it potentially drops. Feels like a wiff.

Well, you are the one who brought up diablo and a variety of other games. Fair that we can pick from that list, no?

5 more coins til I can get the exotic! :( Ugh!!!

The three waves in Heroic Devil's Lair are like the toughest part, followed by Sepiks. Actually felt accomplished when we beat it. Damn.

Yeah exactly just color it what it's gonna be that's all.

Dont make me get excited, leave matchmaking, wait the few minutes to load for a crappy blue or green.
