Ok, I'm confused. I'm a level 20 Titan and have been for two days. I have equipped the few items I have with light and my highest piece has a +8 Light. How do I level up to 21 or higher? I can't do the Level 22 strikes yet since I get wrecked. I also primarily play PvE but I'm open to PvP. I've done the level 20 strike playlist several times and finally got to Vanguard level 1 but it seems that until I can do the higher level stuff I won't really get too far. Any suggestions or tips for what I'm doing wrong?

You just need more light. If you highlight your Light Level, you can see a progress bar. I'm in the same boat, too; stuck at 21 and wanting to go higher. Just keep doing what you're doing and eventually you'll get better drops and even a Legendary. Once you hit 21 the weekly heroic becomes doable (at least in my case it was). You can also try farming for engrams or playing Crucible matches; it seems even if you do poorly you gave a decent shot at getting done nice items.

Is there a chatroom or something for destinygaf? Seems impractical to post and communicate (since you cant ingame). Currently in a 4 man party for the weekly strike and not sure whats gonna happen lol

*Edit* I just left - I'm too low level for the weekly anyways since I just hit 20

Hit level 13 and I've finished everything on the moon.

"The Shrine of Oryx" spoilers:
When I got to the final area and my HUD said "Defeat the Knight," I asked myself, "What knight?" Then the door opened and this huge Hive dude comes out and I'm saying to myself, "Oh my god oh my god oh my oh my god!"

I know people say this game is repetitive, and I do agree there are some repetitive encounters/designs, but I gotta say, up until this point I think the repetitive criticism is exaggerated. There are some GREAT fights and encounters on the moon. Here are my favorite missions:

– The Sword of Croata
– Chamber of Night
– The Shrine of Oryx

Good stuff.

I'm sure you will like Venus even more :)

Getting error codes so frequently I can't even get half-way through a strike now. I'm really trying to enjoy this game but the error codes + all the other criticisms that have been mentioned many times are making it very hard.

So far the single most frustrating thing about this game is that the PvP is completely fucked. It feels like damn near 80% of the time its either one hit kills from supers, shotguns, or rockets.

Good list, I can't tell if I'm matching the names right for all of them or not in my head but I think I agree. The Burning Shrine is my favorite so far and is just an all around great/beautiful FPS map IMO

the only thing i don't like about burning shrine is that a lot of the combat happens indoors and not outdoors. but once more people learn the heavy ammo spawn i expect that to change. it'd be near perfect if it was a tad smaller, but it's one of my favorites nonetheless

What's that map on Mars that has vehicles? That one is horrible.

that's bastion. i've only played it once so i may not be privy to its issues, but i didn't notice any glaring flaws other than its massive size, which i didn't really mind because it made supers less apparent and allowed more liberal use of scout rifles. what's the most common complaint?

I played like seven team-based PvP games and have lost each one :(

I'm not good by any means, but I consistently place in the top three on my team, so I don't think it's that I'm holding the team back. Oh, well. Someday I'll get that Crucible victory bounty completed.

I'm playing a Warlock and it seems like no merchants offer fully automatic rifles the last couple of days. I started using a Fusion Rifle around level 5 and that's all I ever see in stores now. The game doesn't tailor merchant inventory around your usage patterns, does it?

I need to get a good automatic rifle and shotgun to do better in PvP. Seems like that's all that anyone ever uses.

I'm up for this chat thing. I'm totally a Co op player and it looks like we need to sort this stuff out ourselves for now.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the Venus missions. Best of all the planets, in my opinion.

The first mission on Venus was so good! Lookatmego and I teamed up to take it on hard mode and we were getting absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer aggression. Then everyday math dropped out of nowhere and saved the day. Haven't had that kind of an experience in an FPS ever. This game is meant to be played with friends.

I hit level 26 earlier today, so i'm finally ready to raid. If anyone is putting a group together for Tuesday or at any point in the week really, send me a PM or add me on PS4, my id is Fourbin on PSN.

Everyday math. The hero we both need and deserve.

Teach me how you got to 26. The drops in this game are so low.

I still need to play with math and a bunch of other GAFfers I had played with in the Alpha and Beta. I want the shenanigans of a full fire team being split up and put on opposing teams while still being in the same party chat again!

Can someone smarter than myself justify the reputation system? It's already nuts the marks payout from strikes/crucible is pitifully low, but the rep system is probably the worst wall in all of the game.

I feel like they need to double the vanguard rep earned for strike playlist, considering how long they take, you could get 50 rep in the same amount of time doing crucible

So i'm west coast and I work till about 11:30 (be online most likely around 12:00) .. does anyone wanna meet up around then and run the Heroic weekly? And then either farm nexus or run some 24 vanguard stuff?

I'm fucking itching for Legendary/Exotic shits and I need to level vanguard once and get a BUNCH more of dem coins and such.

Also - are there vanguard weapons you can buy with your tokens? All i can find is the gear that your main class vanguard guy has. I mean i need that wack ass cape he's holding onto but everything else seems kind of meh...

edit: Oh - PSN: silkysm00th

-nexus strike on venus. when you enter the large nexus cave, alternate killing the vex with your supers, and then everyone jumps off the edge. it respawns you right at the entrance so you can repeat. you'll get blue and green emblems and sometimes purple ones.

DO you mean each person in your strike team takes turns doing supers until it's dead? And after it dies you jump off the cliff and die?

What gun are you using?

For smaller to mid sized maps use auto rifles, and on bigger maps use scout rifles.
Make sure you are using a gun with decent impact. The lower the impact stat is the longer it takes to take the shield down. Also, aim for the the head.

You do have a shield. I recommend an auto rifle, hand cannon, or shotgun. Headshots are important.

Thanks
I've used auto rifles, shotguns and pulse rifles but I haven't paid attention to the impact stat.
I take a look at my guns again.I'll never be good at head shots though!

Blind Watch is great for anything not Control.

I like blind watch for control, people just need to learn already that A is garbage, and it actually hurts you to get it. Get B and C and defend between them and you'll win very time but every game some genius extends to A and boom, you are fucked over.

"hey you're loosing, let me spawn you from the furthers point away from what you need"

OK, so I'm not sure if this is a common issue, but its been driving me and my friend insane all day. We have our PS4s set up on the same network trying to play together, any time we get in a game, within 2-3 minutes, sometimes 30 seconds, it boots one of us saying server error with random error codes varying from cockatoo, inchworm, jackrabbit, etc.

This has been going on all day. Some times we are able to get through a mission with no issues, but the majority of the time one of us keeps getting discnnected from the game. Is it because of how busy the servers are over the weekend? Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing or has experienced this issue and has any light to shed on it.

Thanks for this reply. It took me a bit to realize I needed more light but it's just not happening. I see people with items having +15 light. The only legendary items I've gotten so far are for Hunters (I'm a Titan). I'm going back in and as soon as I hit 21 I think I'm going to try looking for groups to do the Heroic Level 22 stuff with. I've mostly been playing solo.

Gotta say though, I've been REALLY lucky with the matchmaking in strikes. Everyone seems to work really well together, even without being able to speak to each other.

Just finished my first strike "mission", they are not all this bad are they? Empty the sniper and heavy weapons at leg of the walker/eye of the orb, take out the cannon fodder to pick up more ammo, rinse and repeat for about a half hour. Oh yea, don't get in the boss' line of sight because there's some Halo-esque covenant tank fire coming at you.

Who enjoys that kind of thing, like at all? It wouldn't have been such a battle of attrition if we had three people and at a higher level, but still.

one person uses their super and kills the 12ish vex, then everyone collects the orbs and any engrams and jumps off the cliff. rinse and repeat until you get bored.

How do weekly strikes work? I got halfway through the strike before I realized theres no way I can solo it. Am I suppose to find people my own level to do it? Why did Bungie make this so ass backwards? As much as I'm enjoying the game, these small but dumb decisions are starting to pile up.

If it took you a half hour to kill the tank...
