It's a breathtaking book with some incredibly poignant moments.
Never really noticed how pronounced Captain Marvel's...lightning bolt is.

Messi just buy Uncanny X-Men Omni I&2 and X-Men Omni 1&2 and experience the best X-stories of all time.

Now I've got to read this. Is it something I can read without any pre-requisites? Gouache artwork is my weakness.

Well, that took me waaaay longer than I had expected, but here it is:

Official Omnibus Reading Position: The Comic

Dude, that's seriously fucking great. Succinct, visually interesting. A staple of all COMICS! threads from here on out.

Haha. Well, thanks!
The one thing I wish I could've done is some good shadows, but I still haven't found a shadowing technique that I can do on a tablet that looks decent.

Cross hatching my man, give it a shot. It's a great way to create value and looks great both digitally or analog. But either way, I really love the strip.

I think I like the rough original. It had a terrifying quality. Anyone have the original? But good job.

I was dying laughing when I read this whole page today. Stepford Sisters are awesome. Her freak out was amazing.

(Assuming this is directed towards my post)
Yeah, I kinda do too. When I went back over and did cleaner lines, it lost a little something. But it was also pretty rough in some not so good ways. All in all, I like the final drawing more than the rough blue lines, but yeah, there was something in the rough blue lines that I failed to capture (particularly in the second panel). Hopefully I'll be able to differentiate between good rough and bad rough with enough practice.

The second panel is amazing

Thanks!

The third panel is my favorite, it's something I'm so used to doing (since I have a recliner that kicks out wildly). Great suggestion of motion in it.

The beauty of comics, telling a story visually.

Thanks for the compliment!

I love the second one because it shows the struggle of trying to lift a heavy omni from that particular position. It's one particular feeling I can identify with very well. It's very personal.

And the thing that surprised me the most is how Waid was able to give us so many of those moments in what felt like such a short short series.

Yea. It's my favorite take of an aging Batman. Bruce would never quit. Ever. Body fails you? Find another way. That always bugged me with TDKR

Seriously. I love that last restaurant scene and his deduction.

Hahaha. Yes, totally.

Awesome as always, any update on ComicGAF's most anticipated original comic by you and Rafa?

Thanks!
And nope, no updates yet unfortunately. When I get an update, I'll be sure to let you know!

.

yea you should be fine, its a future story and explains as it goes

damn I miss x-men

Picked up the first two issues of Teen Titans and enjoyed them.
Never read the New 52 version for some reason, don't remember why...is it worth picking up?

Aquaman is added to my list of Future's End that I liked.
That makes :
Aquaman
Greyson
Swamp Thing
Batgirl
Birds of Prey
Green Arrow
Detective

Constantine was ok
Batman was ok

New Suicide Squad was blah

Can I bother comic-gaf for some recommendations for a dope like me who has only really read Saga and isn't really into superhero comics? Looking at the OP, Roche Limit looks like it's up my alley but it's not out yet. :(

Six Gun Gorilla is a good read. Only six issues and it's collected in a TPB.

Try out some other Image stuff too, they've got a lot of great indie books out. Deadly Class, Black Science, and Sex Criminals are some of my favorites. But there's other series that people here love like Manhattan Projects, Velvet, and Zero.

If you like Saga, the easiest recommendation is to read the author's previous works, primarily Y The Last Man.

My personal suggestion would be to just grab a bunch of Volume 1s of different Image books.
Image prices all the first volumes of books at just $9.99, so they can be bought for a little over $5 on Amazon and InStockTrades.
Pretty much everything Image is publishing is great, so you really can't go wrong with any of the books, especially for just $5. And then from there, you can figure out which books you like most and buy more of the volumes of that book.

Edit: To add to Tyrant Rave's list of books, I'd highly recommend Five Ghosts.

Thanks! You've all been very helpful.

A new printing of The Incal is coming out in two weeks, anybody read this? It there a certain reading order? Is it like the best comic ever?

I will definitely be picking this up. Everytime I read an interview from a comic superstar they have to mention Moebius as one of their influences. It's time to know why.

100% by Paul Pope is godly. Y the last man was awesome, another vote for six gun gorilla, and check out hellboy. Start from the beginning.

Finally able to read some comics after working on my front porch for 3 days straight.

Avengers 34.1 was great and Al Ewing continues to be Marvel's best kept secret.

I sincerely think it's time for some new blood on ASM...Slott is tired.

And I'm officially done with Captain Marvel. Can't even use the art as an excuse this time. This issue was like KSD telling a joke and shes the one laughing the hardest at it...or at all.

New Suicide Squad was blah

I liked Constantine a lot, I thought it was fairly smartly written. Phantom Stranger too, got me intrigued in the series.Batman was pretty good too, with all the Lex banter.

Earth 2 was some of the worst storytelling possible in a comic, things jumped all over the place without transitions or establishing locations. Holt's personality, his clothes, his relationship with the public, even the location of his tattoos are at odds with his characterization in the main FE series. And in a climactic scene, two characters whose identity hangs on the colour of their shirts swap colours between panels in an apparent colouring error leaving the whole thing inconclusive.

Superboy might have been even worse - the story was a throwaway that said next to nothing about the scenario, though it was relatively inoffensive. But I'm pretty sure that was the worst art I've ever seen DC publish. I really looked like a teenager who'd just got their first wacom and put their manga doodles on deviant art.

Walking dead, southern bastards, preacher, anything by joe sacco, acme novelty library, 2001 nights, vagabond, bprd (the ones guy davis did), hellboy, the metabarons, battlefields, 100 bullets, from hell, habibi, two faces of tomorrow, battle angel alita ( the original series not Last Order), criminal, the fade out, outcast, spaceman, nao of brown, optic nerve
I could add more if youre interested. I have no interest in super hero books either and no tolerance for incompetent art.

Superboy was an end cap to the last arc of the now cancelled series. They didn't do a very good job of explaining that in the issue itself.

I am on an X-Men kick. Anyone know any good stories with my faves. Preferably that are in trades. I like Magik, Emma Frost, Rogue, Kitty, Jean (maybe I only like young Jean) and Iceman (the kid version of him slays me)
Have you read Aaron's Wolverine & The X-Men? I've read the first four trades and they were great. I didn't think the AvX tie-ins were a drop in quality: they showed those big events from the personal perspectives of a lot of mutants and that was great. It also had a scene in which Cyclops and Wolverine JUST TALKED about shit for a couple pages. You won't get that from Bendis, yo.

Some great Kitty, Bobby here. Also, young mutants like Broo (<3).
Mind you everyone says the next arc is bad, but I dunno.

Well, that took me waaaay longer than I had expected, but here it is:

Official Omnibus Reading Position: The Comic
Whoah at his face in the first panel. It conveys so much meaning and emotion. A man on a difficult path in life about to experience a little happiness for a while, fully aware that it's going to be a beautiful, but fleeting moment that'll disappear in time like tears in the rain. Amazing, meaningful storytelling, Zero level.

...which is my way of saying that I want to see Rafa reviewing your strips or pimping them Alonso-style ;)

This isn't believable at all. Is that some sort of chair couch hybrid? I've heard of couches with reclining sections like that but they never have that second, middle of the couch arm rest.

2/5 rating.

Lol.

Lazarus and Velvet are also great, and have nothing to do with superheroes.

BEHIND THE SCENES!
A LOOK INTO THE METHODS OF THE ENIGMATIC ARTIST NAMED KIPP:
Ah common, dark theme, dude!

I haven't. I really need to get that omnibus

This is how my couch looks. It's kind of freakish how close he got.

Read Copperhead and thought it was wonderful. I liked the book even more
Because the artist draws faces like Sean Murphy. Everyone should try the book out.

Edit: Messi, I assumed you trade waited X-men? That panel with the triplets happened ages ago
