Actress Daniele Watts reported for lewd acts, goes nuts at police investigating

The last thing I'd expect anyone do is kiss a prostitute. The cop definitely did it because of her appearence

The reason clients and prostitutes don't kiss isn't because, eww, icky, she's a whore; it's because prostitutes typically reserve that affection for their own relationships. Johns pay extra to kiss whores.

Shucks, if black while sleeping get people calling 911 it's only obvious black while kissing would scare people. Black while breathing is the problem.

This might not be about police racism. They might just be incompetent while following up on a witness statement. Could be either....could be both...

Okay a lot more details in this article

I mentioned last page but it got buried so I'll say that the studio city pd got a call regarding indecent exposure from someone, apparently all they were doing was making out with the door open but the call said there was a sexual act going on. They were outside the CBS studio center which is where the cops rolled up on them. Oh and this part sounds fucking insane, this quote coming from the boyfriend,

She was released “quite quickly when they realized we were right outside CBS and that she was a celebrity and I was a celeb chef,” Lucas wrote. “Before they figured out who she was they were threatening calling an ambulance and drugging her for being psychologically unstable, SO NOT COOL WHATSOEVER! “

So yeah...

I would sue that police department for everything they are worth. What a disgrace.

Maybe she was really playing up her "emotional distress" like it appears in that picture. You know how actors are...

I'm sure it has been asked, but how would showing her ID prove she wasn't a prostitute? Not that she should have to do so.

They could have her on file from a previous arrest (I think? not sure what else ID would be able to do)

Refuse to produce ID and the police will immediately assume you are a criminal. They will see you as potentially dangerous and will want to handcuff you just so they feel safe. I wouldn't be surprised if that is what happened in this case.

Are you naive?

White man kisses his white girlfriend. Ah lets move along, its just too lovely couples enjoying themselves.

White man kisses his black girlfriend. She's a prostitute lets harass her by robbing her of herself worth and humiliate her.

Do you even see what is wrong with this or are just just incredibly naive that you think this is ok?

So when theybsaw no priors they'd let her go? What if she was one and quit ages ago?

Meh, hope she sues them and wins.
Even if she had prior arrests for prostitution I can't imagine that proves she was soliciting when they stopped her. The real reason is that they wanna run your name through to see if you got any active court summonses or arrest warrants so they can get you on an unrelated charge.

So someone called 911 on them and claimed they were having sex? Understandable then. Police then left when they saw nothing illegal happened. Looks like a big fuss out of nothing which could have been avoided if she showed Id to prove who she said she was.

you kinda skipped from "police arrive" to "police leave after seeing nothing illegal happened" when the main point of discussion is what happened in between. a handcuffing, for instance.

And, sorry, but...fucking read the thread? the "shoulda showed yr id!" response is vacant and pretty much proves you haven't read any of the thread.

More like handcuffed and detained her because she exercised her legal right to not show her ID.

Eh, but as pointed out in this thread, they had nothing to support the claim. Even if they checked her ID and she had a clean or unclean record, what grounds could they say made her suspicious? They can't just say it was the call and they can't just say the kiss. They handcuffed what actually was a law-abiding woman kissing her husband. How can they justify that?

Is US police training so awful? Why on earth is she cuffed? At this point its a few questions and there is literaly no evidence of wrong doing.

Indefensible and poor policing. Not even mentioning the disturbing treatment of a someone in distress.

I thought California had a Must ID or Stop and Identify law, but guess I was wrong.

Yeah, I saw that. But I was thinking California had a Must Identify law. We have one here in IL and refusal is enough for arrest. So in my head I was justifying that with the law, which is non-existent in Cali.

Even in Must ID / Stop and Identify states, you are not required to carry or show an ID document. Stating your name (and possibly address / dob) is what is required by law.

More like the difference between Burger King employees and Starbucks employees.

According to TMZ, the police responded to complaints about a couple having sex in a car parked on the side of the street.

There's audio from the confrontation available on the site which does not make her look good. She even threatens them with negative publicity, which I guess worked by looking at 90% percent of the posts here...I was pretty angry too until I heard the audio.

Maybe a little bit OT (and not sure if it's been said already because the thread is quite big) but in the Netherlands you need to have an ID with you at all times. You also need to show it when police ask you for it.

No one has a problem with this over here. Why are people in the US this different? Or am I seeing things wrong?

So the audio doesn't mention they suspected she was a prostitute? Hard to take your word for it when you don't provide a link.

I even mentioned where it is, lol. It's the top story on TMZ. You don't have to take my word for it so un-wrinkle your concerned brow and head over there and give it a listen.

And if someone complained about two people having sex in a car on the street during the day, the first thing through my mind would be that one of them is probably a hooker. Even without knowing the race of either of the participants.

Edit: the cop doesn't accuse her of being a hooker, he's actually super polite and says he's responding to a complaint, and she gets very combative right away.

He also tells her she's being detained.

"I hope when you guys are fucking your spouses, you reall feel like, alive you know."

lol

Looks like she tried to walk away while they questioned her, so they detained her until they could determine if she had been committing a crime. Whether they were in the right or wrong in how they handled the situation, well...

I really think people jumped on the racist cops bandwagon too soon in this case.

Sounds like she lied. She flew off without him saying a thing about race or prostitution. Just basically said they were accused of having sex in the car. Wonder if there's anything else.

Is there a sort of blurred line where on the one hand they don't have to show ID if it's not a stop and ID state, but in a situation like that, when the officer believes the call counts as giving reasonable suspicion upon finding the couple described, that he can then get ID?

So this was a non-story after all, now that we hear the audio. But regardless people have called the officer a racist bastard for 12 pages and I also had strong reservations as to how they handled the situation.

This is what happens when both sides have preconceptions and biases, makes it harder for police officers to perform their job properly.
