Now I've heard it all.
Extermination, Sabotage, Rescue / Rescue 2.0, Intercept, Endless Defense, Survival, Assassination, Deception, Hijack, Solar Rail Invasions, Spy and Conclave (PVP).

And then of course you have Void missions and Orokin Derelicts and Bosses.

Yes, Warframe has far more variety, even just in mission types. If you want to add weapons, powers, builds and classes, its an even wider gulf.

If you invite someone or join someone's fireteam, there will be voice chat. If you get matched, then there's no voice chat. (IIRC)

Yes, but the other guy is saying that matchmaking has voice chat too. I'll set to public tonight and see what happens. Does that setting stick now? It went back to default (friends only) with each new session during the beta.

Can't believe so many people expect to see end-game content after just a week. The only people expected to be at 26+ at this point are the hard core people who can spend 30+ hours playing the game a week. I'd be pretty let down if all it took to reach the end game was 15-20 hours. I'm supposed to be playing this game for months, not a couple weeks.

I put around 12 hours in and I'm level 24 about to be 25.

I have zero experience on raid content. Is this worth it? Do you think it adds a lot to the game (Not a rhetoric question, not trying to troll).

I've been watching the one that was linked in the OP since earlier - http://www.twitch.tv/streamerhouse

I haven't been following any of the others but from the sounds of it it seems these guys may be the furthest or amongst the furthest.

The other group which appears to be the most coordinated got there first and figured out the mechanics, but they dropped out to re-level up. One of them got a weapon which is meant to help so they are attempting to level everything back up.

Christ. Those must have been the most to-the-point know exactly how to level and find loot hours ever lol. 24-26, from what i've seen/heard, normally takes longer. Care to share what you did / what you played and how you got the required armor etc? TIA

Yes, you can list it and make it seem varied, but they're all shades of the exact same thing that have you running through the same environments engaging with the same bad AI and spam fest combat.

If you really think that's meaningfully more varied I don't know what to say.

In terms of missions, areas, Warframes and weapons I have seen, it does look like it has more variety.

It has more "stuff", that's for sure. DE are masters at producing more "stuff" to fluff up the lack of meaningful gameplay content.

Not really a fair comparison as WF has had time for many updates, but I'm pretty sure given the same update timeframe Destiny will grow into something much more.

What is the color they keep calling out?

There are 2 portals on either side of the room, one leads to a grassy dimension, another leads to a desert one. So they yell out which dimension they get teleported to so the guys outside know which portal to open up.

THIS.
I keep opening up Destiny and despite the reviews, I'm really REALLY enjoying the game. I just get bored quickly because I'm always playing alone and would LOVE to chat with randoms to form bonds as I play. I'm not joining some strange fire team just to talk.

I get it. auto-grouping randoms in some matchmaking program sucks. However, JUST GIVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHAT WITH RANDOMS DURING THE GAME so we can add them to our personal friends list (by choice), fire teams and clans!!! From those people, I can choose (when we have the time) to take on RAIDS, level up, or do whatever.

I'm in the same boat as Kill37r. NOBODY I know has a current ten console. I have family and responsibilities. I'm happy to get an hour or two at night on Destiny. Going it alone SUCKS. Would love to meet other guys/gals in my situation to shoot the shit, level up a couple of stats, and eventually get to RAID something.

Last night, I was playing on the Moon and really enjoying it, but wishing I had a co-op group to play with. I'm never going to be into the PvP stuff. Bores me silly.

Bungie needs to fix this. Really.

Yes. I'm a broken record. That said, I can already tell from what I've played that I'd enjoy what Destiny a lot - quips from the community aside - if the campaign wasn't forced solo for people in my situation.
Feel free to add me BBS, PSN: djakademik - down for the odd PvE and such for sure.

There is no strategy here, its all luck. There is no "about to be" level 2x, because it depends on getting a loot drop you have no control over. The spread between the most and least efficient way to farm is incredibly low anyway. Just do whatever.

And that's not the case for Destiny? Sauce for the goose.

I guess it's impossible to play without a headset then.

I'm not buying a headset for this fucking game.

The setting sticks now... I noted that yesterday.

I will made test tonight but I was talking with random guys via matchmaking or maybe I was just confused.

Edit - Kotaku says voice chat is limited to firetreams... so even via matchmaking it works.

do damage control for devs, brehs
Oh yeah, being reasonable and realizing that the game is not meant to be full cleared by everyone in the first week is totally damage control.

The game is not perfect by any means, but it's too early to start crying because you're not max level.

Why not use the one that comes with the console? I've been using that for all my games and it works fine. People always say they can hear me clearly enough.

Holy shit half of the people in this thread have no idea what a raid even is.

Can't believe all the saltiness, of course you need 6 friends to do it, you're never going to finish it with randoms. Of course it's hard, it's the end game content. Jesus Christ, does everyone just want free legendary handouts or something? Earn it.

Honestly pure luck loot drops while playing with friends in strikes, patrol and multiplayer. Though I think the Xbox playtime maybe borked cause it said 13 hours when I checked last and i'm feeling like it 20.

9 pages is a lot to go through. Is there an impressions post. It doesnt even have to be first hand impressions, just from someone watching.

What is the level design like. What are the encounters like. Are the bosses the same kind of bosses from the main game. What exactly makes it so tough? etc?

It's great to see them improve, they are finally able to consistently kill all the oracles the first time they are teleported and get out.

Looks like it is going to take good teamwork to complete and a pretty well put together team. Everyone needs to have shield busting elemental weps and concentrate fire on certain enemies, things like that. Coordination.

I'm on PS3, no mic. And I use headphones to play, so it'd be even more of an annoyance.

You have pretty much summed up the MMO community. I remember these same arguments in WoW back when I played regularly.

I'm starting to really regret this purchase.

Why there can't be match making for more casual players with less IRL friends who play games is super stupid.

Just add drop-in drop-out for raids. PSO did it for people doing the full playthrough and had a robust lobby system for getting into games and/or locking them to invite only if people so chose.

Well then OK. I didn't know you were only interested in comparing against some future version of Destiny.

Are you seriously suggesting it's fair to compare a game that's had many, many content updates to a game that's only just been released?

Yes, it would be better with MM.

Curious though, while it's not ideal what's preventing you from adding players you meet in game and building up a FL of people for events like the raid?

No matchmaking? Why did I buy this....

Do you really want to do a 6+ hour raid with people you don't even know? People who will inevitably rage quit and refuse to communicate making it literally impossible to finish? Say you can't finish it one sitting, and you want to return to it later...what exactly are the chances that all 5 of the other guys are ever going to be on again at the same time?

Cannot believe so many people would even want to attempt this with randoms, cause even if you could, you'd be on here posting "Why did I buy this? I can't beat this stupid raid!"

Are you referring to just the MM exclusion for Raids?

Edit: Nvm, saw your post about drop-in/drop-out. Not sure if you've been watching these streams... but MM for this would be a nightmare.

Yea, you can't even drop in and drop out. This is like work.

If you are thinking in WoW raids, Wow Have huge City Hubs. Map Chat and INGAME guilds. There was no ridiculous communication limits when is supposed to be a harcore experience.

Anyway, this is the very first day. People is just trying to understand the raid. We will have guides tomorrow, Let's see if the communication is needed.

Better than never being able to do it all.

We're already lacking in content so excluding a large part of the audience for the Raids is a mistake.

I think this is the KEY right here.

The problem is there is sooo little content. If it took the average Destiny player a MONTH to hit Level 20 and then on TOP of that their were Raids, then I dont think people would complain.

But with Destiny, you are DONE with the content in 5 days.... ... And then what.

Are you seriously suggesting it's fair to compare a game that's had many, many content updates to a game that's only just been released?
Both games are available right now, so yes, they're comparable, directly, as they currently stand.

The only reason I jumped in is that your post made it seem like it was crazy to say Warframe looked to have more variety. Its not crazy in the slightest.

That doesn't mean that Warframe is better or that people will prefer it. Just that it does actually offer up more variety.

Why can't they have the raid in multiple difficulties? One that's easy enough to beat with a group of randoms and one that really requires a group of people that you know. As it is now I'll probably never get to experience the raid since it's hard getting 5 of my friends online at the same time for long enough.

I'm a bit lost here, what exactly have the Streamerhouse guys to do in order to finish this? Time travel? Aren't they playing for like 6 hours straight at this point?

PSO also didn't have this level of content difficulty though. Even Ultimate doesn't touch this stuff.

Not having MM sucks but it really just seals the deal on what kind of environment the raid is. Matchmaking for it would only make it more frustrating IMO.

For anyone on the fence on putting in the effort to actually give raiding (in any game) a shot, I highly recommend it. I took the plunge with finding a group of like minded raiders in WoW several years ago and I've been playing games with them ever since. The sense of accomplishment is very rewarding when completing a difficult encounter, and a feeling I can't get anywhere else.

I was having trouble with randoms on the level 24 strike... can't imagine this shit with randoms.
