DriveClub Being Streamed Early by Twitch User

Grabbed this gif from last nights DC twitch leak.

Those graphics look horrible! And it seems to repeat itself way too quickly! They could have easily made this game 60fps!

That's not what he said. He said uninspired as in no defining feature. "Just" a circuit racer.
The "defining" feature is in the fucking name of the game. DriveClub is meant to be about the Drive Clubs more than most other racing games are. Sure, there are other racing games that have some community features that resemble some features that DC has, but very few seem to be taking it as far as DriveClub in and outside of races.

driving supercars on farm fields. nothing like driving supercars on farm fields.

I think it is a valid criticism, to note a seemingly dumb design decision, of having sports cars driving through fields. Seems cheap, and not well thought out.

I meant that one true bottleneck for hardware is open worldness. Wouldnt you agree that GTA V with its massive map and detail and AI and physics and what not would have be seriously compromised if it were to run on a PS2?

Seriously compromised? Which parts? Map size means little of a systems power if a good streaming technology is used. World details? Again means little. That's just time and effort programming things into the world. AI and phyiscs? maybe.

Im pretty confident that GTA5 would play almost identical to GTA3 if the game was set to PS2 level. GTA3 and VC had a ton going on for them. Sure, with more power, ram specifically, you can have more pedestrians and cars, but does that significantly add to gameplay, or is pretty much just fluff and eye candy?

My point is more powerful hardware has not drastically changed gameplay, it just made things look prettier or run better. The only thing I am unsure of is AI. I don't know if AI is advancing because of hardware or because people are getting better at writing code for it.

I like how in first person view it keeps alternating between the game logo and the car logo on the GPS monitor thing. It's like they think you have short term memory loss and will forget what game you're playing or what type of car you're driving every 5 seconds.

I fully expect Forza 6 to get rid of tracks then, unless it and all FM games are uninspired? I mean who would drive $400,000 super cars on pavement?

I know!

Corridor racer is the most absurd term I've heard in yearssssss.

And for that matter, what other racing games have team-based/clan racing? (honest question as I don't know)

One comes to mind, The Crew. Though it's an online game, I believe.

I really can't think of another racer where your progress with your club is linked together. That's why they limit your club to six people, so that you can't just brute force your way to the top of the charts by having a ridiculous number of people in your club. That's something that the stream can't get across because no one else has it and the servers aren't even online.

Well that would be one true next generation feature i guess, something that clearly cant be done on last gen. ATM fh2 and dc and 90% of the games this tear are games that could have easily been done on last gen minus the graphics of course.

Im not saying every type of game NEEDS open world

A good racing game is a good racing when the racing is good.
Doesn't matter if it does something thats possible on last gen systems or not.
People care about good games, not about stuff thats not possible on old console.

The share button screenshots from the beta prove you wrong. You're talking outta your ass at this point, and I invite you to look at the Console Screenshots thread, some FH2 screenshots in there that might surprise you. It's IQ isn't as good as you seem to think it is.

And there's a difference between saying something bad about a game, and needlessly comparing it to another racer at every chance you guys get. We don't see any of that shit in the FH2 thread.

1. I saw every image, pic or video about DC.

2. Went to the comparison thread, saw again FH2 pics. And then checked again DC beta sreenshots. Confirm my position. FH2 looks more crisp and defined. You cant say me I'm wrong, but I know what I'm talking about.

3. I just said FH2 ONE TIME, in all DC threads, and I'm suddently comparing both games every chance I get. Yes, this is what is wrong. Go search my profile to see when I said anything about FH2.

Not gonna discuss anymore. Peace.

Yes but dev can use something possible only on next gen which can add to the fun/goodness of the game right? Otherwise the old argument of "why upgrade hardware?" can be used. And I wasn't talking about driveclub or whether it should be open world because its on ps4 and not ps3. Im just saying that open wordless is positively correlated with hardware/resources.

Are you Derrick (banned grumpy gaffer) gone all cheerful? He gad a thing about 'next-gen gameplay' too. Although TBF you're actually defining what you mean by it.

Speaking of close track circuits.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we still haven't seen the race 'tracks/circuits' that were previously mentioned by Evo... have we?
All the footage i've seen is of road racing, either point to point, or lap based... but I haven't seen any 'race tracks'?

The stream from yesterday had a Canadian race track.

Seriously? Anybody have a link to that comparison thread?

Sigh...

You must not have been looking at the shots I saw yesterday. The one's I saw had their fair share of jaggies. More than I've seen in any DC screenshot. I won't post them in here, but I'll PM them to you if you like.

Read my comment again. I said "you guys", not you. By "you guys" I meant people who come into threads of games and the first thing they do is needlessly mention another game, and say something about it that it does better than the game that the thread is about. In this case, you were one of those guys. Lose the persecution complex.

I don't think they've shown any so far - it's all been p2p stuff.

Weirdest thing is the demo they were touting last year prior to PS4 launch was 2 laps on a circuit in Canada.

Considering how badly sports and supercars handle off road, by design, i think that's it's pretty well thought out.
