Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

I'm curious, does anyone here think this game could end up being one of their favorite Final Fantasy games? Does the setting, characters, etc. from what we know interest you enough? If you do, let me know your favorite Final Fantasy game as well.

For me, I am getting that vibe. Maybe its because I havent played a decent new mainline FF in years though or maybe the FF13 cast really were that bad but the characters of FF15 really appeal to me
BUT I hope Stella and the Green-eyed girl are playable party members though!

Again it may just be because I was burnt by FF13-2 and -3, but I really am finding myself hyped by this games potential and the hope that SE learnt from their mistakes with the 13 series.

My favorite FF is a tie between 6 and 10.

Sorry, I've been trying to follow the multiple FFXV threads, let me explain.

There seems to be a lot of celebration that Nomura is no longer directing (at least in the other thread), but scanning Wikipedia it looks like the only things he's directed so far is the Kingdom Hearts series?

Stella is in this dining area in the trailer.

Same chair design as well the art or tile work on the walls(or wallpaper). The TGS trailer transitions into Accordo anyway so that much is clear.

Pretty cool consistency that the trailers are showing.

Nomura's mainly directed the Kingdom Hearts Franchise, he has had his hand in story elements for previous FF games, but he's never written or directed them.

It's why its always so odd when people try to say he is the reason for FF's decline, it doesn't make any damn sense.

But she is named Luna now or?

You knew what he meant.

They probably won't say stupid crap like "My dream is but a fal'Cie's fancy now". There's no indication they will.

I hate how one of the biggest problems people have with the FNC story/mythology is "Oh no, I actually have to pay attention or I won't know what's going on!" RPGs are games supposedly lauded for their stories and people balk at the idea that they have to make a slight effort to keep up with things. XIII wasn't a perfect or amazing game, but I think a lot of its reception reflects negatively on the community and not the game itself.

When people complain that they don't know what "l'Cie" or "fal'Cie" mean, despite how heavily it's explained and beaten into the player over the first couple hours of XIII, I don't fault the game or its writing, I assume the person complaining is either spectacularly impatient or moderately brain-damaged.

Also, what's wrong with that line? People in a fantasy world speaking like they're in a fantasy world? Why is it that if a character speaks anywhere over a middle school English level, they're suddenly pretentious? Reminds me of "Idiocracy."

I really do think Stella is actually Luna now.

Look at this image.

See the moon-shaped necklace? It'd be too much of a coincidence to have Luna, a character named after the moon, to have that kind of necklace.

From a story standpoint, it makes absolute sense to me. Noctis looks at the moon and it turns into the logo. Now we know that the woman in the logo is tied to the moon.

Having the main heroine named Luna couldn't make more sense.

ANOTHER theory is Stella having a twin sister named Luna. Luna has the moon shaped necklace, but...

...Stella has star-shaped earrings. I know that this is a bit of a stretch. It could also mean that Stella was renamed and her motif was overhauled as well.

Its kind of disappointing how well this logic works with videogames. I mean if a girl in general wore a moon necklace you wouldnt think her name was moon related, but because its a videogame every character has to wear something related to their name.

Did people comment on the Xenoblade vibes of this trailer already?

Because I got serious Xenoblade vibes from this.

Some people did.

However others brought up (rightly so) that Final Fantasy has been doing very large monsters and messing with open world YEARS before Blade.

It have star motif so i wont remove possibility that "Stella" is gone

either

1) "Luna" is simply her undercover identity. Stella is princess that Noctis kingdom enemy with. so it make sense that she wont introduce herself as Stella when she meet noctis.

2) Twin sister

One thing that I think was really cool from the trailer was how your friends help protect and fight for you when you were injured in combat. Strengthening bonds between characters through gameplay isn't easy to do and I think they accomplish it pretty well here.

My only concern is how scripted is this / how does combat actually work.

It does have a Xenoblade vibe, but way too early to tell how open world it is actually going to be. Trailers can be deceiving so often.

Luna/Stella's pendant has a star too.

Stella means star I think and Luna means moon.So I think she actually has both names.

He formal name is stella(the one the royal family uses to address her) where as luna is what noctis used to call her when they were kids and she kept the name ever since.

Wild speculation.

Looks like someone called Cragmire lost an avatar bet haha. If the trailer was only 6 seconds shorter he would have won lol.

IMO, if there's one thing Final Fantasy has consistently gotten right for the last decade, it's combat. That's the least of my worries.

Amazing visuals and the combat/exploration looks like it could be cool.

I already hate the character designs, though. Oh well. Still absolutely going to play it.

Reminds me a lot of Xenoblade for some reason. Probably the banter between friends while fighting monsters in huge open fields :D

Looks fantastic! No idea wtf is going on story wise though.

I noticed the star too. And someone mentioned the black-haired girl has a necklace on too(you can't see all of it, but you see a bit). I'm wondering if they are related. If the black-haired girl is Luna, and they either have the same necklace or Luna gave the necklace to Stella, it might represent her relationship with her. Big moon and small star. Perhaps "big sister"/"little sister"? Moon protecting the star(Luna being Stella's protector)? These are just wild theories.

This and confirmation that a playable demo will be packed in with Type-0? Sweet.

I was getting heavy FF8 vibes from the trailer, personally. That's not a bad thing either.

It's not like Nomura has done nothing but FFXV for eight years. Since 2006, he's been somehow involved with the creation of more than a few Kingdom Hearts games, The World Ends With You, Theatrhythms, Dissidias, Type-0, Crisis Core, Advent Children movie etc.

This. All while he was planning and then directing a huge title like XV.

The idea that Toriyama getting out 3 XIII games (two of which had to be partially aided by tri-Ace? Or was it just the last one LR?) is more timely is pretty crazy if that's what they think internally.

Music's fantastic btw. I like the grand-theatrical scope they're trying to convey. Lovely. I really hope tabata can make this game works.

Yeah, that was neat when he got picked up.

Assuming nomura left because of negative reasons and the game not turning out how he wanted, does that mean the final product will suffer for this?

Is this another case of FFXII? I know people enjoy FFXII, but I honestly feel that it suffered from the director stepping out at some point, and the game having some shifts in terms of tone (like changing the protagonist).

Game changed Protags WAY BEFORE Matsuno left, years before in fact.

So that feeling had little to do with the Director leaving XII.
