never forget ...

What the hell...wow lol

If you are not good willing to practice lots you're not going get the platinum. Theyare amazing games even if you don't though

Yep.

Ultra is easier though. At least that's how I remember it to be (I've plat'd it over a year ago).

Weirdly, 2X took me less to platinum than Ultra (3d14h vs 3d17h according to PSNprofiles). I guess I still had a life back then

The Free Yakuza Ishin App for the PS Vita is surprisingly well made, looks good, is very fun and addicting! :D

It was very difficult for me to understand some of the mechanics but after playing for quite a bit I think I understand most of them. All thanks to the Package Installer. :)

Thomas Was Alone Coming Soon to PS4
Here at Curve we’ve had the pleasure of bringing a variety of games to PlayStation in the last two years, made by a great mix of different indie developers. Thomas Was Alone was the very first of those games, and its ubiquitous creator Mike Bithell was the first indie developer who we got in touch with. A lifelong PlayStation fan, Mike was genuinely excited by the idea of having the game appear on PS3 and PS Vita, and we had a great time creating that version.

With that in mind, we’re now happy to announce that we’re bringing Thomas Was Alone to PS4, and it will be available to everyone as a cross buy title. That means if you picked up Thomas on PS3 or PS Vita at any point last year, you’ll be able to grab the game completely free on PS4.

We will get way of the samurai anyways a full fledged samurai game

I would do what you said if I knew they were going to implement emulation soon enough. But given the time they take to update PS4's OS I'm not hopeful.

The fact that they shipped it without something like this baffles me.

It makes sense to me -- when launching new hardware to millions of people you want a lean OS because that minimizes failure points. Feature creep is dangerous and emulation is both issue prone and non-critical. The fact that PS4 launched with a pared down feature set compared to the mature PS3 is a sign of a competent and experienced design team, not a bad one. If we don't have it in another year, then I'll be baffled with you. I think we'll see it in half that or sooner.
EDIT -

The issue isn't running them. The HUGE issue is the rights to run them on a new console.

And that.

The issue isn't running them.

The HUGE issue is the rights to run them on a new console. Same reason we ain't getting Logitech wheels working on PS4. More contracts to sign, more money to hand over. Even then it can be almost impossible to negotiate a new contract if the rights have changed hands since the last deal was done.

PS Now might have more negotiating power since it's a rental service with possibly more revenue potential for licence holders.

I really hope they've realized licensing per platform is a problem since the Vita/PS4 problems and there's some sort of "forwards compatibility" clause. Personally I'd be happy enough if I could just play PSX disks on it, but I'm sure they wouldn't add that without letting people buy digital PSX stuff first

Yeah i played it and it's extremely good, better than many full games, but at a certain point you need to sync with Yakuza Ishin game to go on.
Too bad Sega doesn't use it to make a full game :/

When I scrolled past those Ishin app screenshots I thought a proper Yakuza Vita game had be announced at TGS for a second there. :(

Not that such a title would get released in the west anyway.

The problem is more likely that no publisher wants to sign any sort of 'forever' clause than lack of foresight on Sony's part.

Just posting some lesser known or talked about but interesting looking games from TGS. Full list of titles at SCE's booth can be found in the links below.

Rise of Mana looks cute...I wasn't aware the taint of F2P had reached the Mana series though.

The problem is more likely that no publisher wants to sign any sort of 'forever' clause than lack of foresight on Sony's part.

Isn't that dead standard/required on mobile though? I don't see why consoles are the lone exception here.

The honest answer is "I don't know", but I can guess at it. But first, remember that we're talking about ps1/ps2/psp games that had their original licenses written either before or in the early dawn of digital distribution. So while Sony might be able to get better terms with Vita games, license negotiation with those older titles might not get any easier even if Sony wishes it would.

As for 'why consoles', I think it's because historically consoles go through complete hardware and OS overhauls between generations whereas PCs and phones take small evolutionary steps. When there is a big step in, say, the phone world (from those old flip phones to the iphone, say) there's no compatibility, but since that's often a switch in brands as well it isn't noticed. Essentially, I think most view the ps3 and ps4 (or vita/psp) as different animals, but the iphone 4, 5, and 6 are just iterations of the same device. I have to think that has some impact on it all.

Man, any time I start to feel bad about PSN sale offerings I only have to look at Nintendo to realize how good I have it on PSN. I keep getting excited each week for the new Smash Bros sales, and each week it gets more and more disappointing. Like, the Smash sales this week are almost insulting, and I would buy almost any Pokemon or Metroid game. I thought the square enix and whatever other sale PSN had this week were leagues better than the offerings this week for this once in a gaming generation Smash Bros sale.

People should play Murasaki Baby, the controls are a bit uncomfortable at times, but it's absolutely worth playing. The art is gorgeous and the atmosphere is amazing

People were complaining last month with all the Mega Man, at least new VC games came along with it. For the PSN sales this week, bought stuff I already had physically since it was such a good deal, like DE: HR Director's Cut. Can't pass up paying $9 for that.

If Nintendo did that kind of thing, it'd be a brave new world, and it's sad that they probably never will.

Maybe they will, it looks way too well made for just a free companion app. After all, they have "announced" a Yakuza Vita.

I fear that the app is the Yakuza they were referring to...
Yakuza 0 will have a Vita app too though, i will play it for sure if it's as good as the Ishin one.

If Sega was smart enough would make the two apps standalone and sell them together in a collection, i would it.

Should I get a PS4 camera as a microphone solution?

(I use my PS4 on a monitor, so I'm forced to use the headphone jack in the Joypad for my sound output.)

I'm afraid that the camera will pick up background noise, annoying other players. Or is there an easy interface to mute it?

Just downloaded it. Haven't played much since I bought SSD, but I love all the cross-over stuff that this game gets.
Does anyone know hoe SSD dlc actually works? Were all of these DLC's included on the cart/package and just locked away for timed release? Cos they download in an instant. Even vanilla SS was like that.

It it's like most PS free DLCs for online games, the actual content is put in a patch (so your game can play with people who have the DLC even if you don't "have" it)

I doubt that they just ported the engine for just an app, a full game must be coming.

Edit: Beaten.

Nah, I don't think Vita will get a proper Yakuza game. I figured them porting the PS3 game engine to Vita meant they would start porting the full games, but nope. Syn Sophia's spinoff series from PSP seems dead too.

Apparently SCEE found out that they can advertise Vita games via email, in the last few weeks I received one for the Muppets game, LBPVita Marvel and just now for Murasaki Baby. Better than nothing I guess.

The full games are huge, I don't think they ever thought about that seriously.
I don't know, it's too soon to assume it's been completely canned, Nagoshi was still talking about it just a year ago and they've been kinda busy with the PS3/4, if all they wanted to do was a companion app they could have simply made a menu-based, well, app instead of porting the engine.

Welp! Come on Sony announce GR2:PS4 and be done with it now.
What a shocker, that was the tease and just because there's FF in the title he assumed it was good.

To that poster that asked if he could ever know about a game like Dungeon Travelers: that's your answer.

Btw, I totally nailed it by assuming it was a SE mobile port. I'm not that happy about it.

Why the hell would you do that, when you can just plug any standard headphone /w mic into the headphone port of the dualshock 4?

Still it was shinobi! Even if not FF I was expecting a good rpg and not a mobile f2p game.

Because I use that port for my sound out. And do not want to use a crappy quality headset/headphone combo. But I would still like to use voice chat sometimes..

does PT work with remote play? it might be not that scary on a smaller screen

It does, it looks incredible on Vita's OLED.
