So my LCS had a sale today. Got the complete Gotham Central, the first trade of Jon Ostrander's Martian Manhunter (which I gushed about a couple pages ago), and DCU by Alan Moore (the one with the original Killing Joke. So much better than the 20th anniversary hardcover). If you ever want to pick up that last one, make sure you get the older, thinner trade. It replaces Killing Joke with some crappy Wildstorm comics.

I just hope sales are strong enough for it to be collected in its entirety.

Well they've already published the second trade, so it has a better chance than the classic Suicide Squad reprints, anyway.

Man, those Hawkeye delays have really cost Fraction (and Aja!) some goodwill from his fans, I wish they had communicated better with people from the get-go. The nice thing to do would be to drop the final issue by a dollar, but of course Marvel won't do that.

So, a bit of a confession along with a question that's slightly off-topic but I've seen it brought up in here before so whatever.

How is Gundam: The Origin, in particular for someone who doesn't have much experience at all with the series? The amazing packaging and the fact that it's from Vertical (who do a damn good job of curating their catalog) has had me interested in it recently. However, my experience with Gundam is pretty much just G Gundam (which is amazing and at times amazingly dumb, though from what I know definitely a bit of an oddity when it comes to Gundam). So is The Origin fine to treat as just that and pick up without having watched much of anything Gundam in the past?

Hawkeye schedule is somehow worse than Astoinshing X-men( from Rich)

I don’t know if you’ve seen this yet but looks like Hawkeye #21 & #22 are once again delayed.

Hawkeye #21 has slipped from 8th of October until the 12th of November.

And Hawkeye #22 has slipped from the 12th of November until the 10th of December

How the fuck is this even possible?

How do you folks rank Snyders Batman storylines in the new 52? I go like this:

1. Zero Year
2. Death of the Family
3. Court of Owls

I think in time we will look back and remember Zero Year most fondly. You could tell Snyder was having fun writing that story and Capullo knocked the art out of the park. I do prefer the art in Court over Death of the family but as an overall package I enjoyed Death more.

I agree with Zero Year coming in first. It was a neat story. I would probably rank Court of Owls after that since Death of the Family was cheeseball Joker jobbing as is typical when the character is used these days.

Alright, so I've knocked out a few of the original artwork pieces you guys recommended. It's been a while since I've done real life drawing so some of these aren't as tight as I'd like them to be but I think they're alright.

If you guys have any other suggestions, I'm all ears!

Those are fantastic! Great work!

So since I can't find the Omni for Uncanny X Force I just started reading it on Unlimited. Just got to the dark angel saga which is, believe it not, where I stopped reading when the books were originally coming out (Not cus I didn't like it...I just dropped comics in general). It feels dirty reading this series on Unlimited, but alas, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Then I'm gonna start reading Avengers, and New Avengers, and Uncanny Avengers until I'm all caught up and ready to waste money on some floppies.

What are the chances that the Doom Patrol omni will be on sale anytime before December? Pretty good? Black Friday maybe?

Sure. The Origin is what it sounds like -- "the origin." It's a comprehensive reworking of the original series that streamlines a lot of the more toyetic elements while also including a loooot of extra backstory that wasn't even in the show (about 3 volumes worth in the current format).

There are two things going against it that you should probably be aware of though. First, the translation isn't very natural sounding. It's often awkward and too literal. Second, the lettering choices sacrifice readability in favour of preserving Yas's art, which sounds like a good thing but in actuality makes for a disjointed reading experience. Physical presentation on the other hand, as you mentioned, is top notch.

These are amazing! I particularly like the coloring with Miles Spider-Man, its got a Spider-Man 2099 vibe to it.

Apparently Bendis just closed down his "Bendis Board" forum which had been open for longer than me. :0

From accounts, there was some nasty stuff from trolls and the usual, but BMB didn't even give the long-time fans a warning in advance, which I find pretty crappy. I can understand closing it, but out of the blue is kind of terrible. I'm not a big fan of his obviously, but I found that quite interesting.

Oh damn, that is awesome. Each and everyone look like they've been done by a different artist which makes it all the more impressive. Can you do Superman, Batman, Gambit, Cyclops (both o5 and new black/red suit) and Grayson (in his spyral suit). Would love to see your take on them.

Those are great!

As for suggestions... You should draw Power Girl :)

Has anybody else been keeping up on Batman Beyond 2.0? Cuz I'm reading it and it flashed back to post Joker's capture of Tim Drake and its just Babs and Alfred crying and hugging and I wasn't ready for these emotions, haha.

Followed by Babs breaking up with Bruce. Man this issue.

I'm not, but it's one of the books I've been wanting to check out.

It's been pretty good but I've just nosedived into some serious Batfamily Drama in the middle of the Mask of the Phantasm coming back.

I'm a little confused on some of the status quo going on. I might need to go back and reread some things, because I don't remember

1. Terry getting back to working with Bruce and
2. Terry hooking back up with Melanie. Which is weird cuz he was definitely hanging around Dana a lot last arc.

The Mask of the Phantasm story line in BB2.0 takes place like a year back. It's showing you the reasons why Terry and Bruce don't work together any more.

Yup.

Also finally got around to Wicked + Devine, and like others, yeah it's losing me. I'll probably give it another issue or two, but it just doesn't have that spark that was there in issue 1.

So, does everyone love Marvel 1602 as much as I do or am I an outlier? Book is one of my all-time favorites but I don't see it get THAT much hype.

not even a gaiman stan brehs

I enjoyed it a lot, though there are books I like more. I kinda wish it had been longer and gone into the alternate stuff more, though.

I just started getting back into comics. The only one I bought back in the day was amazing spider-man during McFarlane's run. Really disappointed at how...digital a lot of stuff looks nowadays

GI Joe #1
Edge of Spider-Verse #3

Pretty dope stuff. I feel like all the Guardians would be popular at cons.

Yo, have you drawn Ghost Rider and/or Cable? I'd totes love it if you did

Daredevil #8 was great, probably the best issue of the relaunched series. Both the set-up of the new antagonists alongside a look at Matt's current life predicament were well done. Undropped.

I'm all caught up now with Batman Beyond. It's a pretty great run, I think. The Justice Lords Beyond arc was pretty solid, with Terry learning a good deal about himself and getting to reunite with his dad in the process. The Mark of the Phantasm was sort of a lot of drama, though. On the one hand you have Amanda Waller basically orchestrating the murder of Terry's dad at the hands of the grandson of Bruce's parents' murderer and then teaming up with the Phantasm to off said killer and drive Terry away from Bruce. On the other hand you also have Bruce pretty much intentionally ruining Barbara's relationship with Dick.

Ostrander is one of those guys who served to be a star but never quite was. He did the original Suicide Squad, hands down the most epic Spectre run ever (one of the most interesting comics DC's ever published), created the modern Mr. Terrific, and his Heroes 4 Hire series was incredibly fun, I wish it had lasted longer. I even have fond memories of his kinda odd and short lived Quicksilver series.
