Y'know. We have people that think you should be able to trade. And I honestly wouldn't be against it with the way the game actually turned out. Their original reasoning was that you were supposed to earn your gear. It was supposed to be like a trophy. You could show it off. And people might see that cool thing you have and aspire to get it themselves. I liked this idea.
What we actually got was this:
"Whoa, is that [insert awesome legendary/exotic weapon here]?! Where'd you get that?!"
"Oh, you know, I got a 0.3 K/D in the Crucible and it gave it to me."
"Oh... huh..."
I liked the idea of there being high end exotics that may be unique to certain strike/raid bosses. RNG is fine. I would like to say "Yeah I got this by beating a level 24 version of the Archon Priest a few times and prying it from his cold, dead hands". Instead I get to say "Yeah, I bought like, almost all my gear including my exotics except this one that I got because of an RNG bounty". Loot games are fun but Destiny, though sold as one, isn't really one lol. It's a game with time-gated progression(Marks) and a small chance at bypassing that with pure luck rather than skill or effort.
Now, despite that, I still enjoy the game. But yeah. Not sure why I suddenly felt like posting this, but yeah. The whole "earning your gear" thing has been on my mind for a while lol.
