So, I'm up to level 9 and have enough time to play the game tonight!

I'm hoping to hit level 25 or 26 by late October when I'll have about a week where the wife is back home in TX to help her sister with her wedding. That way I can try a raid.

I still have massive issues with the game, but at least that level with the sword was a thing that was different than other missions. Sort of. I mean, I had a sword.

Yeah, like the other guy said..I've shoulder blocked multiple arc blade'ng blade dancers. It does not kill them in one hit. As you insinuated, it sounds like you have a different build that leaves you vulnerable if you are dying.

Most don't use that build, if so.

armor is real

What's a void weapon?

There's 3 types of elemental damage in Destiny. Void, Arch, and Solar. A void weapon is a weapon that uses void damage and can take down enemies with purple shields. Arch weapons are weapons that use arch damage and can take down enemies with blue shields. Solar weapons are weapons that use solar damage and can take down enemies with orange/red shields. Your special and heavy weapons will have the color icons for each type of elemental damage. So make sure you look at those.

What would folks recommend out of the Vanguard AR? Dr Nope or.....whatever the other one's called? Neither are my first choice but it'll have to do until the game sees fit to give me one I actually want.

Looking for something similar to the Shingen-E. My damn mate keeps getting all the luck with legendary engrams, he's now got Patience and Time, Grim Citizen, a legendary scout rifle (I forget the name) and another legendary sniper rifle. What the hell man.

But good thing is this Queen's bounty stuff has gotten him some legendary armour at last, so he's level 25 and working on 26. He'll be able to raid today at some point.

Hey guys, next time the gunsmith is selling blue fusion rifles (always forget to check) - let me know lol. I chose Pocket Infinity over Good Advice. Hope I made the right decision.

I don't know what to tell you. It literally just happened. Shoulder charge right when he activated arc blade. I took his shields down and that's basically it. He then killed me.
Shoulder charge won't kill anyone with an overshield in one shot. You'll need to follow up/lead with a shotgun blast.
Can't wait. Hawkian, I need a bit of advice. I hit a bump in the road, I am about halfway through level 26. Last night I realized I have leveled Dead Orbit to level 2 so I got some boots to complete my rates. The problem is that I realized with the blade dancer subclass perk that allows fast recharge I have no need for the melee component on armor. This leaves Future War Cult (unleveled) as my main source for armor that I need to acquire for an all intellect and grenade build, correct?

God I wish I had thought this through and gone FWC from the jump.
Here's how I'd handle it:

First, consider just opting for whatever your easiest acquisitions are for the gear slots that will get you additional light. Your light level is really, really important. So you can buy DO gear to just pump yourself up to be raid-ready. You can swap to the FWC class item and start earning rep immediately (unless you want something else from another vendor in particular).

Once you're at, say, 28, and able to raid reliably, you'll be searching for Raid gear every week with the higher base light that can get you closer to 30. During this period, you can occasionally buy a FWC piece that suits your build better and swap out your DO gear, break it down for ascendant shards, and continue onward (it'll be a slight setback in progress, but not bad) to 29 with your more customized build. Also, look out for exotics with the stats you want- THAT you'll buy immediately and keep forever.

Unfortunately, I don't know about the stat distributions on the raid gear, and you NEED one exotic + 3 raid pieces to hit 30. So how to specialize once you're nearing the hard cap is still a bit of a mystery to me.

Don't disagree with any of that at all but I can see both sides. I guess they need some mechanics that both avoid the "rich getting richer" & someone like me who consistently places last in crucible getting an Exotic SR for my efforts lol.

I still think the best way to handle it is leave the current rate as the base and give higher ranking players a slightly better chance. Give people a reason to actually want to perform. There's no reason to do better when getting a couple kills in then afking the rest of the match can give you the same chances lol.

Considered going on about the timelocked stuff etc, but I find myself complaining about this increasingly the past couple days and there's no point lol =p It just really feels like the game, once you're in the legendary tiers just becomes "Sorry, try again next week". I want to sink time into the game, I'm fine with farming. I will kill a stupid boss a hundred times in a MH-like game to get a stupid PIECE of a weapon. Because there's an actual goal and I'm given that ability. Here, our big bad monster is the stupid cryptarch and some low level hive... it's just not the same...

Is anyone else extremely pissed that this game is so freaking random!

Not really. Loot is supposed to be random. You don't have to farm in this game since legendaries can be bought. But many people seem to miss that "little" detail.

You can even get them incredibly easy atm with the Queens Wrath's event. It goes on for 2 weeks so you can just stack up on a high amount of legendaries or dismantle them for shards so you can get past level 27.

I've honestly never played a loot based game where it's so easy to get the best gear in the game. But hey, if people want to stand in front of a cave for hours shooting at low-level enemies then that's up to them.

Raid stat distros are probably like anything else that's dropped. Randomly rolled. The queen's wrath items seem to be capable of having any combination of Int/Discipline/Str. I would assume raid gear can, as well. Then there's the other modifiers to worry about x.x

If it helps I've actually hit a few people with the arc blade and been punched to death whilst only taking down their shields. Honestly I'm finding it really hard to judge what is actually OP and what isn't due to the lag issues. Just poured more than half a clip into a hunters face not in super whilst he ran at me from at least 20 feet away and punched me to death. I watched the shots come up yellow but his health never even went down.

Speaking of everyone looking the same... I still haven't seen some of the awesome concepts Bungie showed us long ago.

Where are those Titan arms and chestplate with the fur?

Winning is a pretty good reason to try and perform. Catering to those who don't care about actually playing Crucible is not the way to go.

word. good point.

I wish there was a way to, say, take two raid pieces and use them to upgrade your chosen armor piece to max light. I'd really like to be able to choose my endgame gear based on aesthetics, as silly as that might seem to some people out there.

The entire purpose of PvP is to compete and win. It's mind-shattering to me that they add random loot rolls as rewards for every match and suddenly the only reason to succeed is to get better stuff for it.

Do you mean the Raid gear?

Besides that, there is plenty of potential for progress just by putting in tons of time if that's what you want to do. But I figure when I'm 29, I will be playing less total during any given week then before. I mean, I have to, right? I can't keep this up forever. I'm on a fucking Destiny IV drip. I'll tone it back at some point. Right??

On an unrelated note, your MH reference cracked me up XD I've been continuously comparing Destiny to MH, Tri in particular, in my head throughout my play experience so far (I love both games).
Destiny is way, way, way more generous and easier to progress in for me

Edit: What I find most interesting is how much people are bothered by the blade dancer super vs. other supers. I DO think it's probably more powerful, but I suspect it's more a psychological thing that makes it bother people than the fact that they get killed by it more often. It's just a very brutal, almost insulting way to die, somehow. Just kind of interesting.

I think it's psychological as well. Reason being the way the super works it makes you feel like you do have a chance of killing them unlike the Titan smash or Warlock nova bomb where you know you're screwed the second they launch them.

Don't laugh :(

I took advantage of the 360/free ONE deal. And I find I'm playing on the 360 more (mainly due to convenience in our house).

I NEED 360 players...randoms are OK, but rarely use their mics or ignore my friend requests.

I wanna do these strikes and Queen bounties and I need help. Hell, I'd even be down for raids if enough people join me.

Also, if you're still laughing...I'm actually reasonably impressed with this as a 360 game (that's how it started life anyway)...its not THAT bad...its no PS4/ONE, but it holds its own quite fine.

I'm hoping someone out there in GAF-land is playing on 360

23rd level Hunter/Bladedancer. I tend to play at various times between 6 pm and midnight EST.

Really liking this legendary hand cannon I got from the nightfall strike. It has increased reload speed when the mag is empty and when I survive from near death I get ammo back and it improves my reload speed AND it has an additional mod that increases reload speed. Chain of Who? Now I'm running double knives permanently acting a fool in pvp. Seriously how fast this thing reloads when the mag is empty is hilarious.

Hey, that's the one I got! Only I got it from a blue drop during Patrol on Old Earth when I was lvl 18. Lvl 23 now and it's still my primary.

Anyone else using The Stranger's Rifle in the crucible? It's the gun you get when completing the story. Thoughts. Good/Bad?

I used it for a while and thought it was pretty good, just like using a BR in Halo. Eventually swapped out for a better auto rifle just cause they fire so much faster.

Winning is a pretty good reason to try and perform. Catering to those who don't care about actually playing Crucible is not the way to go.

It already caters to those who don't care about the crucible. Because all they have to do is stand around doing nothing for a chance at an exotic. Meanwhile people that actually want to play aren't rewarded for their efforts, unless you count a tiny amount of rep. Which I don't, frankly.

Just popping in this thread to say that after 3 weeks on vacation in England I'm now back home and ready for some Destiny!

The LE is a nice little set too.

IIRC...bungie playtestors were showing prelease quick looks with level 36 armor. I've got a feeling that were all gonna get past these platueas sooner or later. I'd guess we get up to 100 at end end game, three years from now.

Finally got a legendary from the Crypt Keeper. Unfortunately, it was a pulse rifle called Strange Something. Has anybody used this? Any good?

You want to know something crazy?

I'm level 25, have played a hell of a lot of this game, and haven't even finished the story. Not only have I not finished the story, I haven't even made it to Mars.

I actually love this game, will be playing it for a long time, and I think the mechanics and gameplay are a blast. But I have no interest at all in playing the story missions for some reason. Like they are the worst part of the game in my opinion.

People who stand around doing nothing for a chance at exotic are nutrient sources for my blades.

One more mark/+15 base more rep might not seem like anything, but it does have the longitudinal effect of needing 34 matches vs 50 matches per week to max, and 25 rep per match adds up.

But regardless, imagine there were no loot rolls in PvP at all. Why would anyone want to win? No one gets anything regardless of how well they do. Do you see what I'm getting at?

What you guys hoping Xur gets this week? I'm sure most of us have some strange coins saved up.

I want that Achlyophage Symbiote hunter mask and Suros regime AR.

The crucible needs to be balanced with the winners having a higher percentage of getting something cool, but keep the lower performers at the same percentage. If only the winners get rewarded then eventually no one will play. Right now everyone can have something to look forward to, whether it's dominating games or possibly getting some cool loot.

Damn sunsinger, where have you been all my life? 5 grenades on a boss is way better than a nova bomb any day.
It is extreme effective on last boss on Raid because behind the Relic Shield it boost the damage to over 2000 per grenade... so each attempt you take close to 20k damage from the last boss.

BTW I can throw way more than 5 grenades after upgrades.

But you will see the best part of Sunsinger is the Fireborn skill... it revives you in Radiance mode :P it is the most close to invincible that you will get in the game.

I like this idea.

Nightfall and Strike Cheese Tip of the Week

At the last boss, the Nexus, don't jump down that large drop. First take out the few roaming Minotaurs that are wandering down there until the boss spawns. Then, just shoot at the boss from the same spot, sniper rifles are your friend here.

There will be an Ultra Minotaur Vex that will spawn behind you every 40 seconds or sometimes less, but dealing with 1 enemy on a constant loop is easier than the hoards that spawn below on a regular basis.

If you have a defender Titan get them to drop their shield with "Weapons of Light" so when everyone passes through it, all damage on the boss will be buffed.
Here's a better tip;

For the minotaur, have 2 people shooting the boss, one person stand near the minotaur spawn. When he spawns shoot at him and get him to follow you out of the cave. Sprint away from him, he'll chase (blink), when he gets to you, jetpack (or whatever) over his head and sprint back to the cave. Move out of sight and he'll slooooowly walk towards you. When he gets to you, rinse and repeat.

I did this last night and he only shot at me once or twice and just kept chasing me. Meanwhile the other 2 guys just popped the boss until he was dead.

EZ PZ

stability is what makes it bad. i wouldn't fall back on it in the crucible though i know people that make it work

I want a Secondary or Special weapon. Armor that cater to Defender subclass would be great as well.

Jumping on PS4
Anyone want to do some Queen's missions with me. Turning in two more bounties right now. That should be 3 or 4 turned in.

I want Suros Regime as well. I almost hope it is 30 strange coins. A premium price for a premium gun.
