PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

I had a really really hard time getting into the story of Disgaea 3, I really couldn't stand the school setting and the MC's VA bothered me as well. I got it free through PS+ and I still ended up buying D4 to play a Disgaea game. Story and characters interested me so much more. I don't know why I had such an aversion to D3, but I just couldn't play it.

I still enjoyed it, but 3 is the weak link... even though it had some improvements and new things that were objectively better, there was less in the story, characters and setting to endear.

Is the game/gameplay part of some ongoing series or is it the first Digimon game for the developers?

Is it for children or could we expect a somewhat interesting story and combat system?

What do you think?

It's one of the best looking games on Vita.

I know absolutely nothing about Digimon, but man the game really does look good and the battle system looks potentially fun in screens... I want it.

Yowza

This is the one they're completely ignoring all calls to localize, right?

They did response with the petition, though. I recall it's Bandai Namco's EU community manager or someone along the line. We will know when the game come out, but I think we did fight a good fight to make them notice us. I really hope it will come over. The game has some pretty rad UI.

Ironically, not so long after the petition, we got this. It could be a sign that they think there is potential for Digimon's western market.

They should be paying you $13.50 to play it

Haha, alright. Guess I'll skip it!

Eh...I guess? I mean the HD version is $10 so if you have a PS3 you may as well play it there.

It's easier for me to use my handhelds. My PS3 hasn't been played in months and is seriously just a Persona 5 machine (assuming I don't get a PS4 for it).

Guess I should hold out on buying anything, at least until the PS+ lineup is announced next week.

It's one of the best looking games on Vita.

It is an absolutely amazing looking game, but isn´t the anime made for a preteen audience (I have not seen it, but I always thought that it was made by a studio in an attempt to grab some of those pokémon dollars).

If we actually can expect a great story I´ll get aboard the hypetrain right away :)

The only thing I have seen from the battle system in the screenshots is that it has 5 buttons (not counting "auto") attack, item, guard and change. To me that seems like almost every turn based JRPG ever and it don´t tell me much about the mechanics of the system or how deep it is.

I have only seen one or two videos though, are there more of them out there (nothing from TGS right?)?

I think it's like Pokemon with 3 members party, but I haven't played any Digimon game far enough to see how deep the system is. Usually the main part is raising your digimon, and the digimon's evolution number is pretty huge. The problem (or the fun) is how you raise your digimon will result in different evolution paths. Personally, I prefer the digimon looks than pokemon since they are leaning on the mechanic side more.

For games like this, I don't expect a great story or something.

I like JRPG's, though. I like the UI design and I also like that FFX-esque turn queue on the right margin.

Digimon is more than 15 years old. Those that grew up with the series are now in their late teens/early 20s. Cyber Sleuth is aimed at that audience. Yasuda doing the art and the game being on Vita should be proof of that.

Obviously I haven't played the game, but I don't see any direct ties to previous Digimon media. It's also the first entry developed by Media.Vision (Wild Arms, Chaos Rings, etc.) so I can see it being open to newcomers.

Oh hey, now I'm interested.

Skipped a few pages of this thread because someone mentioned Danganronpa 2 and spoilers in one sentence, nearly made my heart stop. Still at CH4, tension's building, the sheer crazyness of this game is really something else. How important is the tamagoc...eh pet thingy? Is there a trophy or something or is it just another roundabout way to obtain presents?

This sounds interesting, the only problem I have with the design of the digimons is that it doesn´t seem to be coherent unlike the creatures in pokemon. What I do like though is that digimons talk (and by that have some form of inteligence).

I too like JRPG´s and the visual design of the game and the setting reminds me of one of the parts I liked in the .hack games (the world) :)

I like the idea of the bolded part, I also hope that this doesn´t just mean fanservice.

Anyone think Sony will have a 20th anniversary event? It's weird that they still have a bunch of 1st party/hired devs working on unannounced games. Bend Studio's open world horror game is apparently coming out next year. Maybe they can use the event to announce that, show R&C PS4 (they said we'll get a first glimpse at the game this fall) and reveal Uncharted 4 gameplay footage? Assuming that December event isn't returning.

The day Namco tells us that this Digimon game is coming over I will be the happiest guy ever. Game looks so slick graphics and artwork wise, and I have only fond old memories of the first season of the show (I watched it when I still lived in Portugal, in Portuguese!) which makes me want to get into the series again. I sure hope to see this in english one day.

Oh man I would give my right or left arm/leg/testicle for a Devil Survivor game on Vita. Those were the main reason I got a 3DS.

Any other ps3 coop suggestions? To pay with wife she likes Diablo but doesn't like dragon crown. I have about 36 psn bucks. Won't do Diablo do to no support no pc version.

So far these have been:
Borderlands
Ibb & obb
Tomb Raider Guardian of Light
Dead nation

It's not even close to the end of the page though.

It's easier to spot something done wrong, than something done right ;)
(I don't like mathematics, but I love psychology)

Edit:

I don't understand gaming journalism.. I tried out Podcast Beyond and one of the guys has no clue what a PlayStation TV is..

Before that some dude was critiquing Destiny after getting to level 7, and not even trying PVP. I've heard more insightful commentary on the Old People React To videos.

Edit: Now they openly laugh at DriveClub, and subsequently dismiss it at the same time stating that they are not racing fans, haven't followed or seen it recently, ... wow.

Borderlands 2 is amazing.

The middle girl looks like a Pikachu cosplayer...I am fine with that.
Crazy that my last digimon game was in middle school.

Digimon World, PS1, first and only for me. Great game, hated the cyclical transformations at just the wrong time, and accidentally turning into poop monsters.
