Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor | Review Thread - Welcome to Middle Earf

Woah, wasn't expecting that. Not planning on getting it due to some other stuff releasing but looks like something I'll try to check out this year.

Been following this game since I saw the video of the different methods of killing your enemies.

Will be getting this day 1 for sure now.

Thank you based Monolith for the LOTR game we all deserve :)

I was not expecting this AT ALL. Was going to pick this up when it hit $20 way down the road because it was absolutely not on my radar, but now I'm considering getting it day one.

It's not even a 12 hour game anyway. He said the story missions total around 12 hours of game time, but it's going to take longer because the domination and killing of the warchiefs takes up a lot of time too.

Indeed, that will easily be stretched out. And with everything else, it will probably not be hard to push into 30-40 hours or so. Hell, Monolith even said as much.

Then you factor in the replayability with the Nemesis system and how it's different every time you play. Then the challenge mode and even some great sounding DLC on the way. This game will have some nice legs for sure.

Monolith is, and always will be, my favourite game developers. Always dedicated to their fans, and their games are always ones of great quality. Congrats Monolith.
Now give me Condemned 3 and a true sequel to FEAR 2

Also, anyone know the resolution for the Xbone version? Been playing that more than my PC recently, so may pick it up for that.

Glad to see all those scores. This is one of the few games that I'm planning on picking up this fall/winter, that isn't a sequel.

pre-ordered months ago and feeling pretty justified right about now. So happy this game is good, love me some open world orc killin'

Agreed. I also don't get why every full price game needs to be 50 hours long. There's something to be said for simply appreciating a quality experience - I'd rather feel satisfied by a game that doesn't overstay it's welcome than have it drag itself out just to make me feel like I got more content.

We still don't know that unfortunately. I would venture to say it's under 1080p (going by their lack of word on it) but who knows what it is for sure.

12 hours? Ehh im super hyped but no way I'm paying full price for it.
If you read what the reviewer said, it was 12 hours for just the story missions. He said his playthrough ended up being around 25 hours, and he still had a fair number of side stuff left to do.

It looks to be this year's sleeper hit methinks. I hope it does well. I plan on getting it at some point, but Wasteland 2's keeping me mighty busy.

I was planning on getting this game at some point, but these scores are incredible. Looks like Destiny is getting shelved this Tuesday.

Ah damn, well thanks for the response... Sorry, I haven't really been following the news for this game that much.. Last I heard, it was "striving" for 60fps on PS4? Now people are saying it is 60fps?

So that could mean that Xbone is 1080p / 30fps, right?

Right? :'(

Well i held off from buying the season pass, but now i can go all in. My 780 Ti's are gonna cry though :( so much for being okay for the next year or so with 3GB of VRAM.

It is an unlocked frame rate on PS4. We have no idea the XB1 performance at this point. Reviewers didn't play it.

I was actually told by the community manager at Monolith that they were trying to get it to 60fps on both PS4 and XB1. Looks like they did on PS4 (or at least are close to it), so maybe they did on XB1, too. So perhaps 900p/60fps or something? Again, who knows for sure.

I am one waiting for any info on the xbox one version as well. If I had to guess, I would think they would care more about frames that res. So maybe a lower res and 60 fps...at least thats what I would hope for. Who knows

This is amazing.. with some dissapointments these last weeks it's really good to see shine others non hyped games.

D4, now This. Next:

The Evil Within! And Bald's souls.

The wait for Tuesday is going to be unbearable. I also have a friend who wants me to wait until Thursday to play it together because some work/school BS, so balls.

My hype for this game over the last week went from 'will purchase when below $20' to me finding out the cheapest way to get it now. I'd seen snippets that impressed me before but I never looked further into it but now the more I see the better it looks, stoked about this one.
