If Bungie messes with public event times to ruin public event farming (for a small chance at ass shards that I never seem to get anyway), I will be pissed. Give us the motherfucking carrot before smashing us with the stick, Bungie.

Looted all of this from one chest in the cosmodrome... not bad!

In case you're wondering I got
2 strange coins
from the engram.

Yo MARVEL!

You still up for Raid?

Hell, anyone interested in raiding? Gonna start all over since I missed first party's rewards and the first chest. May go and do it on Hard Mode. ;)

"We're already putting the finishing touches on the next update and it will be out pretty soon" would do it. As is we have to read between the lines of two paragraphs of fluff to get to the information. The entire update reads like this and I find myself often skimming it to find the point of a section.

You think that's bad? What about when a week before the game came out somebody asked him "how will clans be implemented into the game" and he channeled his best JRR Tolkien as he described everything he hoped clans could become but failed to say

"No clans in the game, because y'all be suckas"

I don't like to nitpick people's writing - it's harder than it looks - but the Bungie Weekly Updates are kind of a chore to read with Deej's style.

It is problematic. It's quite fluffy and saccharine with getting players to feel valued, but like I said earlier, there's little acknowledgement of the glaring issues plaguing this game.

so, i'm looking at destinypublicevents.com and the site is straight-forward. however, i have no idea WHERE inside of the map i'm supposed to be for the public event. can somebody help me out with this? thanks in advance!

Apparently, multiplayer is free this weekend...

I'm trying to gain 3 faction ranks in two days. Is this possible?

After spending three hours on multiplayer, I get the hype. It just works somehow.

All I want is the FWC hand cannon. I wish there was way to buy it outright instead of grinding crucible missions.

You have your work cut out for you.

I wish you the best of luck, Huey Freeman.

Just be in the right zone, you should get a dark screen, notification then a waypoint to the event.

The Chance? Got it from Nightfall last night...need to level it though...not a fan of the small clip though, even with the perks. Guess I will need to try it out to judge though.

Just google "Old Russia Map" etc. to get an idea of where the different areas are.

If you mean where inside the different areas of a map -- like Mothyards on Earth -- it doesn't matter. If a Public Event is going to start in Mothyards, then you just need to be in Mothyards somewhere. Doesn't matter where.

are you a Destiny player without PS+?

if so wow! you might be more rare then a legendary engram.

orange dot is where you start.

You just have to be in the area the event takes place in which are all decently big.

Seeing this map reminded me that they locked off the other side of the Breach, labeled The Cosmodrome on this map (Lower right). It was open during the Alpha and was one of the coolest and most beautiful locations in Old Russia. There was nothing to do there, but it was a great place to hang out and take screenshots with full armor and weapons, which you can't do in the tower. I would love to know why they locked it off, any ideas?

Get a Queen's Bounty from the Bounty Tracker and do it- this you can easily complete yourself.

Then you have a ticket- this ticket allows you select a Queen's Mission from the map on the left. The reward for this is a guaranteed legendary helm, chest, ship, or sniper rifle. You can do as many as there are bounties each day. However, the Mission is level 24- thus the need for the carrying.

edit: guys the blessings are emblems, not class items.

Ahhh crazy. You always get one of those 4 rewards? That's nuts.

Logged on this morning and took my chances with a legendary engram and got Helm of Inmost Fire for my Titan, stoked.

Now I have been debating internally all day at work....do I use coins to purchase the Crest of Alpha Lupi chest plate for playing defender...or hold them for next week to see what he has? WHAT DO I DO!? Already have Red Death Exotic Pulse rifle as well...based RNGesus

Yeah, I can find it hard to read sometimes, too. I've been wondering whether his long winded writing style is meant to match Destiny's narrative aesthetic. Grandiose, flowery, etc. The writing -- both in the update and in the game -- come off as empty attempts at epicness.

I had seen rumors of 3rd sub classes before in the forums, but I just noticed today that the Destiny companion app lists the total number of slots available for inventory items and sub-classes. It definitely says I have 2/3 sub-classes. I wonder when the 3rd classes will be revealed/released.

I always feel weird when I'm at the top of my team and we win and I'm not even playing well or using a stupid scout rifle going for headshots for a stupid bounty.

Sorry to say, but even if you did(which would be an insane amount of playing, lol), there's a 100 mark cap which is below the weapon cost.

Is there any possible way to gain 13 strange coins before this Xur dude leaves other than luck?

Level up another character of your same class to 20, move your gear to him, then do the weekly heroic on 28. Thats at least 10 because you get one from story as well. Will probably get 1-2 more from just leveling up as well. Then go a public on each character to collect daily reward, then run strikes or crucible.

Wow, I, well, thank you.

I have a final guide underway on getting all the way to 29, it should be posted today. I um, just the idea of Bungie seeing/approving of my guides at all is humbling.

edit: Ghaleon I think what you meant to say was that Deej's post are a delight and a pleasure to read, yes?

Don't sell yourself short; I've pointed one of the folks I know who worked on the game (she's doing high end content design & testing, Vault of Glass is heavily her baby) towards the guides for both herself and her friends already; and she's been passing it around. They're pretty good.

his is fascinating. I hope something comes out of it.

Also, I feel every Exotic weapon should have a bounty associated with it, but that's neither here or there to discuss.

I think their intent was that you could get the items either via bounties, dumb luck, or Xur - but I don't think they got around to making everything a bounty / quest. I remember thinking "this game is going to be like a lot of MMOs, where the first six months will be rough, but after they get time to put all of their stuff in, it'll be freaking awesome." I don't know if that is still the plan or not, though.

Also, I am hopeful that future exotics to be quest type rewards / things you get in storyline.

Thing is, he does bury acknowledgement of problems in there, it's just in very indirect ways.

Well of course not! We didn’t ban anyone for staring longingly into the Holy Cave – or for shooting into it for hours on end. The last safe City on Earth needs more hunters than farmers, though, so we’ll do what we can to inspire you to complete missions of variable difficulty under new, challenging circumstances.
This is another way of saying the current incentive structure is um, suboptimal and they're working on it. It's nice to have it at least out there, but as you said it's so fluffy and indirect. I'd be nice if he would just say what he means.

The BWU's used to be something I really looked forward to, but these days I go in resigned to parsing it for information.

I am looking for two people to help me complete the Weekly Strike on Hard so I can get 6 coins. Saturday night at 9pm EST. PM me if you are interested. Thanks.

It really does, right?

Like.. it almost feels like they pushed it so far past broken that it comes all the way back around to seriously well-balanced. Besides ARs being super dominant (upcoming nerf), there are multiple weapon options at each engagement zone, the supers are all extremely destructive against unprepared targets yet there's a real rock-paper-scissors thing going on with them against one another.

Nova Bomb > Ward of Dawn > Arc Blade
Defensive Sunsinger > Arc Blade > Offensive Sunsinger
Golden Gun > Fist of Havoc > Ward of Dawn
Arc Blade is the most effective against groups with no supers
My potential Sunsinger build > everything

Okay my theory fell apart at the end there ;) can't wait to rock that ish

Ohhhhh I'm reading the Bungie update today... they talk about reviews scores and others things.

But the best part is this question.

MrSwier Why are Warlocks the best class in the whole world?

You can’t judge a book by its cover, but to discover a Warlock in your immediate vicinity is to behold grace and strength sheathed in a regal cloak of honor. Warlocks are a noble species. They’re not given over to explosive temper tantrums, pounding their crackling fists against the Earth. They don’t wear capes like attention-starved fashion victims. The Warlock is the player class that signifies an unwavering sense of self-respect on the part of the player. It was a pleasure answering this question. Ask me again sometime.

I'm proud to be a Warlock right now... the best class in Destiny... noble, self-respect, we don't need attention... so superior.

I'm tempted to discuss with you networking opportunities, but I don't know how comfortable you'd be about that. You mentioning you know who works on the end-game design (with this particular lady considering VoG being her baby) is quite interesting.

Tell her she managed to convince me raids can be in a first person shooter. Tell her she did terrific. Tell her there are bugs, but that bugs can be fixed.
