New Driveclub gameplay

There's definitely an option to turn off the warning, dunno about an option to turn off car resets though.

This. There is an option to turn any OSD item off as seen in the screenshot (in the last page). I doubt there would be a setting to disable the timer though. Even if it doesn't show up, it will still reset in 3 seconds.

Looks stunning. Wish I was into cars and racing games more.

Pick up the right game and you will be. Forza 4 turned me into a car person a few years ago, and this is making that PS4 bundle at work look mighty tempting.

Also what is it with people wanting to go off road in these threads? Isn't this a track based racer?

IIRC, In past videos with the HUD off, you can still hear the warning sounders.

Because open world is the new HDR

Remember the ironically-not-HDR shiny stuff in all games beginning of last gen?

Well. Thats open world racers. A bad improvent of the real stuff, and something apparently one must whine about continuously because shiny shiny is just better right?

I don't know why the counter is even there. It's not like driving in the mud makes you go faster.

Yup. Makes no sense. You can just make of off road parts slow you down a bit, this making them undesirable "shortcuts". A giant countdown timer showing up every time you go off track is the least elegant solution.

HOLD ON A SEC

That is huge, lmao. How do you know?

Someone asked the same on a thread 1-2 weeks ago and on Twitter, and posted Rushy's tweet confirming that it can be disabled.

Now, I think you might have to disable all of the UI to do it, but since the SS posted proves the UI is "modular", maybe it doesn't.

Edit: Beaten because I didn't read following page =P

Hmm dont know about that,KZ2 and GOW3 still looks fantastic today.

i only played the first level of KZ2 and thought it looked very ugly, just played it a few months ago BTW, GOW3 still looks great but i find red dead redemption 360 version, GTAV and uncharted 3 way more impressive.

Yeah. Baffling design decision. I haven't seen any areas where you can actually go too far. So I'm not seeing the point of it. It seems like the only reason it's there is because there is no physical mapping to a "reset car" button, in case someone is really struggling to get back on track.

I was able to play it yesterday.

The game I played wasn't as clean as that video shows. Jaggies on the model car where pretty obvious, more during night periods.

I hope it was an older build.

Most show builds are whatever the last stable build was, so it's likely it was older than the retail "gold" version will be.

Old build, as stated by others, but I'd still be a little skeptical about the IQ. I wouldn't be surprised if the video in the OP is all replay footage. It looks identical to the trailers seen so far. May be that's their last coat of polish. Or may be not. Just keep expectations in check.

Shadows across the dash look nice and clean in the driver's seat view.

Some other games have used a sort of Bézier-curve solution for self-shadow edges that look great until you really focus on them, but the solution here looks really clean in the footage we've seen.

Pretty sure it's only the footage with the HUD showing that's new. The rest is trailer footage, no?

No. The video in the OP has a mix of new footage without HUD. Like this portion

Yeah, right. Forgot that was in there too.

Yeah and the IQ of all those portions look exactly like the trailer portions. Which leads me to believe that all the footage is being cut from replays, which are higher IQ. Or they have improved gameplay to match it. Can't say for sure, but I'm leaning to the former.

I dont really like how india looks.
If you've been to India you would know that's how the majority of indian roads look, the way you see the red soil spilling over the roads giving it a dirty look, the texture of the soil and the way it's displayed is quite uncanny actually.

I have never seen better footage of dc, it looks like final code, everything looks so good from the lighting to the textures, to the reflections and the environment detail, it seems everything got a boost including that final pass of AA. Nothing has changed though, Evolution's final pass on graphics and optimization is beyond any other developer out there.

Just pre-ordered for 67 New Zealand dollars, (approx 52 USD) so good to finally see some semblance of price parity in the next-gen/digital age. Hopefully the days of getting ass raped at retail with prices over $100 US are finally over and done with...

On the subject of corridor racing, my preference would be the ability to go off-road, but with the expectation that would quickly degrade/destroy the vehicle and then end the race.

When we have visual fidelity at this level, artificial barriers that you can bounce off and continue racing spoils my personal immersion. Also think this would add to the tension/adrenalin of racing knowing that a missed corner could result in game over...spinning out and drifting off the side of a cliff, impaling yourself on a tree, to me would add to the level of competition in a white knuckle race where you have fought your way to the front of the pack.

Are we sure those are in game real time no bullshit gameplay but not some target render trailer? Crazy

As others have mentioned, it just seems to be press B-Roll footage. Which is just gameplay footage that companies give out so that sites or Youtube channels can produce previews.

In regards to people wondering if replays are in the game: What was the last racing game shipped that DIDN'T include replays? I can't even think of one off the top of my head.
