New Driveclub gameplay

I don't even like racing games all that much (apart from MK type games) and I have this preordered and can't wait to get my hands on it.

The game looks fucking amazing. can these graphics be done an a open world game, like skyrim/GTA? that would be beyond incredible..

By the end of this gen these graphics will be considered 'meh', most likely. I'd say hell yes these can be done on GTA/Skyrim type games.

I agree, i dont know why the term "corridor racer" is being used now. Tons of racing games are like that and personally i dont think i've ever seen the term "corridor racer" before recently with Driveclub.

Using google it's hard to find any use of the term that is old or that isn't on a DriveClub related thread. Most mentions of the term also link back to Neogaf usually making fun of its use.

Also Rushy posted a gif on his twitter account today :

I love that tunnel so much :') The tiling on the left-hand wall is just a great detail for something flying by you at 230 kph.

That's because the term started on Neogaf, in a Driveclub thread a few weeks ago

Right. Some concern troll in one of the DC threads was concerned about how all you could do in this game was drive down "corridors" but you couldn't explore the environment. That comment was sufficiently ludicrous that it took off and sparked the corridor-racing meme.

Well...fuck

It looks good, yes. But, is it gonna be good? I sure hope so.

My favorite level in terms of visuals is that Norway snow track, that is the one that actually easily could pass off as real life. No joke.

Amateur film makers can start using racing games to shoot driving scenes almost

kinda doubt it.

we probably won't see that big a leap compared to last gen. ps4 is easy to program for so we'll likely see the best it has to offer sooner rather than later.

Are you sure that Microsoft said that? I tried to do a quick search for it on Google, but i couldnt find anything. I wonder how Turn10 would feel about it if MS used "corridor racer" in a negative way.

The term was coined by banned poster "c0de" from this thread:

And here is the post that started it:

It happened to me while I was playing it at Gamescom and yes, it's super-annoying. It starts quite fast when off-track so I wasn't able to really explore in the places where it is not like a corridor.

He constantly tried going off-track in a track racer and stupidity ensued.

Are not many real racing tracks corridor like? Yes or no? I watch Indy car & F1 racing all the time and those tracks look tight and twisty. Barely enough room for a car to pass.

I do prefer real racing tracks which is why I loved iRacing so (all real tracks). Plus you can use an Occulus Rift with it which is brilliantly supported. Havent had any time for iRacing though. Drive Club looks more casual and I love the PS4 so I'll buy it

You know the term came originally from c0de from the other DC thread well before MS showed the live action trailer for FH2. I mean how else would they have advertised it? It's a sequel to an open-road? racer going fully open-world.

Edit -

Beaten several times already.

Have we seen if there are options for how aggressive the "car reset" thing is? Three seconds is basically plenty of time unless you really do need help, but it still seems to pop up a lot.

Anyone who criticizes tracks or roadways for racing for being "corridors" doesn't enjoy racing games for the reasons I do. It's an imbecilic criticism. It's like criticizing football for taking place on a field.

Man Evo better be making a Motorstorm after this. The game looks so good, just imagine plowing through the woods missing trees, crossing streams of water, and a big semi truck breaking down everything. Poor sapling, poor garden tomatoes, poor John's house.

Does anyone know if we can turn off the 3 second timer notification? The last thing I want when I'm racing with no HUD is having huge numbers appearing on my screen, ruining the immersion.

My thoughts exactly.

My guess would be that it comes under "in-game OSD notifications". But I could be wrong

Sony better advertise this game. It would be a missed opportunity for them to not use this as proof of how wide the gap is between next gen and last gen consoles.

"Here is Driveclub PS3 footage. Lol, just kidding. PS3 can't handle this..... Ever."

Rushy said on Twitter that there was an impending campaign for it, which is fantastic news. Circumstances have basically undermined some previous Evolution releases that were great games.

They are ads should start soon.

Also the game has it son tab on the PS store.

I hate how aggressive that is. Practically INSTANTLY when going off the road that huge counter comes up.

I see. I guess that is why i havnt heard the term before recently.

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but do you have to preorder the PS+ version in order to be eligible for the upgrade with the discount? Or do you get the discount if you just download the PS+ version at some point?

Game is looking stellar.

I count it at around one and a half seconds after going off tarmac.

Now... I'm not saying the graphic couldn't be smaller or that it isn't annoying in present state (the previous UI had a nice timer) but you'd rather get going quicker than have to wait for a longer period, should you actually need to be reset to track.

You get the discount just by having PS plus.

You can upgrade later as well. In Europe (only?) there is a 3 car pre-order bonus.
