New Driveclub gameplay

Just had a read through this, the bit about the flamingo flock and the seagulls in Scotland.

Imagine, leading a race but your not that flash in the wet. It starts to rain, only a sprinkle at first, so you think you'll be ok. Rain gets a bit heavier. You don't have much experience with this car so you start to get nervous, pressure's building. You slide out in a few corners, the competitions gaining ground.

Fuck Scotland! This rain's turned into the fucking downpour from hell and now it's getting dark as well. Can't see a fucking thing. Can this car steer? Seriously you can't keep it in a straight line. Lights in the mirror. Who's are they? Shit, it's that prick from (insert club). They beat you EVERY SINGLE TIME. Can't let him pass.

Your mates are bringing up the rear, but you need to come first to finish on top of that other team on the leader boards. FUCKING PRESSURE. It's nearly dark, it's raining. That prick just tried to nudge you out of a corner. "FUCK YOU, I can barely keep this thing on the track."

300 clicks on the final straight, you think you got him. BANG! You kidding me, a fucking seagull just hit the windscreen, scares the shit outta you. Spin out of control. Get overtaken. Race lost.

Sweet baby Jesus MOTHERFUCKING SEAGULL!! FFUUCCCKKK!

Can't wait.

I was gonna wait until the PS+ version, but I snapped and pre-ordered. It looks so pretty and the price point was a good one.

I eagerly await the preload to give myself the illusion that I'm closer to playing the game than I actually am.

Hopefully this should slot nicely between FM5 and FH2 in terms of the type of game it is and the type of handling it offers.

What is the reason that this was delayed almost a whole year?

To fix

17. The Indian track Chungara Lake boasts a 19,000-strong flock of pink flamingos, all behaving independently of each other.

That's a lot of rubber ducks.

I don't know if all these details were worth sacrificing 60fps, but holy baby jesus on a gokart does it look good. The lighting model is a work of art.

Uh Killzone 2 is one of the most CGI styled games on PS3. Looks fantastic.

This is the game that made me what no other COD game do: Making be a believer of a dual-analog scheme on an FPS. And that was just from a demo. The other FPS demo I've tried was COD: WW and it only cemented my belief that KBD/M is the way to go. Ironically, it was the heavy and weighty control scheme that made me fall in love with KZ2.

I dislike KZ3.

A bit irrelevant but I'm kind of surprised the new BMW i8 isn't in the game.

Since there's so many euro cars and all. Hope it's in DLC.

Guys, this game looks amazing, and plays just as well. I was more impressed with this game visually than The Order 1886, and Uncharted 4! when I went to E3 this year...this game NEEDS face time with people through advertisements and commericals. Not sure why Sony does this type of marketing with most of their first party games is beyond me. If I was them I'd be putting up at least 50k wirth of TV commericals and 10k Internet ads on some popular sites such as IGN, Pandora, News sites etc. Of course I don't know exactly how much 50k can stretch but you get the idea, enough to make sure a lot of people see it is what I'm trying to get at.

With KZ2 you have to play Level 2 and onwards, it has fantastic lighting and animations. Red dead redemption is not even in the same league.

I just bought the game a few months ago game, i just don't have an offical sony controller, i can't get past the part where you need to use sixaxis to open the floodgate. i disagree about red dead redemption the game is stunning graphically for last gen consoles.

I saw this car on the road two weeks ago and i must say it is one hell of a car there is something different about it and i see a lot of super cars everyday but this BMW has some sort of grace and presence that makes it a really special car i really hope EVO or PD going to add it in the future to their games.

Played this yesterday at EGX, trust me when I say this video DOES NOT do the games lighting, textures and framerate justice...I was (and this does not happen often) stunned when i saw it running!!

Most graphical comparison videos are crap on Youtube due to compression & having low bitrates.

Gamersyde does these kinds of videos a lot better.

Are there any clips of the game during sunlight, read on a different forum that it looks bland during sunlight?

From everything I've seen, the lighting looks very natural to me

Do we know when the embargo lifts yet? I keep going back and forth between this and Horizon 2. I only have room for one racer in my life and reviews for DC may tip me one way or the other.

Probably sometime next week. I doubt it'll review as well as Horizon 2 though. You could always just try the PS+ version if you have a chance and then decide.

All Sony has to do is put this game in every demo station. It will turn every head for sure. I'm not a big racing fan and I want it now!

Do we know if the game offers a meaty single player experience? I don't care about social stuff or multiplayer.

Bright sunlight tends to make things look bland IRL. I'm sitting bathed in sunlight at the moment and most of the colours I see look flat.

Dawn, twilight, cloudy/overcast & nighttime are when this lighting engine comes alive.

Exactly the point I was making, I believe People want them to exaggerate the way it looks during daytime to make it not look bland...

It really does look fantastic. I thought they stated that it would have a damage model though (even if it wasn't hugely detailed)? Some of those collisions in the vid looked like they would have done some major damage.

Anyone know if the game has Sixaxis steering?

If so I might just have to tape my controller to my Driving Force GT.....just to have that feel man.

Yes, it has a Sixaxis steering mode.

Have you played it?

Also does it support head tracking with the PS Camera?

Hear anything about 3D? (Doubt this)

But if it did support head tracking..I might dust off my old HMZ Head mound....and experience the closest thing to playing this with Morpheus, for now.

OLED too!...but 720p. :(

No, I haven't tried it, but I read it on PS Blog:

One thing I didn’t expect, though, was a motion control scheme that I ended up preferring over the more traditional approach. A quick trip to the options menu lets you enable motion controls, driven by DualShock 4′s built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, and — again, I say this as a classically trained, button-based gamer — it ends up correlating perfectly with the game’s in-car cockpit view. Tilting DualShock 4 left or right and watching your hands on the steering wheel move instantaneously feels perfectly natural, and makes long, soft turns much more graceful (rather than trying to find just the right angle to hold the analog stick at). Of course, traditional controls still feel great, but I think I might end up defaulting to motion controls for this one!

So if you ignore that the PS blog would obviously not say anything negative about one of their own games, it sounds like the mode is at least playable.

There's no head tracking or 3D support.

As far as Damage...or lack of extreme visual damge. Well we know EVO has the skills to have realistic damage in their games, like the first Motorstorm.

But with this game they didn't want mechanical damage, so if your car looked like it was really jacked up....yet you were still able to hit top speed with it...well it might look off. More off than driving top speed then crashing and having little visual damage.
