Man all I wanted after working both of my jobs today and paying for my car was to get Hyrule Warriors, and they were sold out. Just FML right now.

It's a blast, I played it for about an hour and half tonight.

Who is gonna be up for ComicsGAF Bayonetta sessions when that drops next month?

Found the X-Statix Omni on Amazon for 50 bucks. Finally ordered it. Two weeks from now I'll order Doom Patrol. Also read Ms. Marvel 8. First time reading the book, I added it to my purchases at my LCS this week since I didn't have any cash and needed to be over 10 bucks to use my card. I liked it, pretty fun. Awesome art too. Might pick up the back issues.

Is going into Axis with only reading the first 16 or so issues of Uncanny Avengers a bad idea? I'm getting semi impatient and kinda just wanna get into buying current comics again, but I feel like I'm doing the stories a disservice by not reading what comes before them.

Also torn on buying Smash Bros or the new Lord of the Rings game next week. I'll probably buy Smash since I've been waiting forever for that game, but oh man if that LotR game didn't come outta no where for me and sound completely awesome and fun.

Uh, pretty big news in the legal world of comics today.

Maybe it's because I came up as a freelancer in the current climate, but I have to be honest, that ruling makes sense to me. I've worked on some big commercials that have basically become recognized characters. The company I freelanced at really helped determine who those characters were, their traits, their personalities. That company, nor myself have any rights at all to that character, it's completely the ownership of the company asking for it to be made. I have friends who work in the story department at places like Dreamworks and Disney. Hell the one guy I know basically created the personality of Po from Kung Fu Panda that we all know and love, and he has no rights to that character. I'm not surprised by this turn of events.

I know this post is not going to be liked by most of ComicGAF. I understand that, I get wanting creators to own their characters. It's just so rare of a thing in the working world.

Man, on the complete opposite end of my usual positiveness about things, I just have to say: Is this a Zombie? (at least the manga version, haven't seen the anime) is such complete garbage. Only have it because (as I mentioned earlier when asking about the Attack on Titan novel) review purposes, and I just finished off the finale. Didn't even realize it was the end of the series until the last few pages, and the book was such a disorganized mess in general. I think the only thing that's passed by me that's worse was Puella Magi Kazumi Magica (which is an abomination of both art and storytelling, and hell, even translation a bit). There's definitely some decent stuff in their catalog too, but Yen Press brings over some real garbage sometimes.

Edit: I'll be there for Smash for sure. Though I'm a cheap bastard so I went Amazon to avoid paying tax, so I may be a few days late.

It's a lot better than I thought it was going to be, I just hate the fucking map, and the camera.

I'm totally in for Bayonetta sessions, I've had it pre-ordered for months.

Yeah, the map is awful.

My screen name for Wii U is tim1138 (shocker, I know, so feel free to add me.

I finally finished reading all of the month's comics.
I'm a little troubled with picking my top 3, but I might come to a decision soon.

Now I gotta figure what's wrong with my Amazon order that was due two weeks ago, I suspect Chilean Customs Offices are to blame.

Count me in for Bayonetta and Smash too!

I need money, can't decide between Persona or Dynasty Zelda... :/ I only have Lego Batman preordered to get that Plastic Man figure...I know I'll end up with Bayonetta and Smash somehow but kid wants all that Infinty lol

I'm not sure about joining in your sessions, but I already have Bayo 2 and both versions of Smash preordered. Next couple of months are gonna be packed between those, school, comic books, and other games I plan to play.

...This thread has just informed me that Bayonetta 2 is going to have multiplayer. Neat! Also, I think I managed to work out my financial woes enough that I'm definitely going to be able to slot it in after all!

Yo, Twilight, nobody remembers that shit but that was a good comic

Ha, I read this post very quickly and I thought you were implying Risso didn't know what he was doing. He's always the best part of any comic he's involved on.

Risso's one of the medium's top storytellers of all time.

Persona, also Persona.

Step it up and play Destiny with us!

Yes! I want to so bad. My buddy is kind of anti-people and I try not to be rude and just bail. The only person I've had the chance to speak too briefly was GH.

We need to do that strike mission.

Hey ComicGAF. can you help me with something?

So my mom is a huge Walking Dead fan, and the owner of the comic shop she frequents recommended that she read Crossed. After reading it she soon became enthralled with Avatar Press' catalog and soon began reading a whole bunch of stuff they put out. She gave me one of the Crossed series to read and I kind of put off by all the violence in it. I'm not against violence in media but in here it's like the main selling point. I then read Neonomicon and Night of the Living Dead and was similarity put off. Now that some time has passed I'm beginning to feel like I never gave them a fair chance. I was never the biggest Garth Ennis fan and him being the lynchpin of their catalog kind of painted their output in a bad light. So my question is: Are there any Must Read titles that AP puts out; anything that's considered to be necessary reading for comic fans? Its fine if they're violent but I'd rather that not be the focal point of the what I'm reading.

holy shit, lmao

As for your question: I think Uber is a legitimately great comic that's coming out right now

...

I really can't think of anything that Avatar puts out that doesn't use graphic violence and/or titillation as a selling point. EDIT: Even the above mentioned Uber relies heavily on extreme violence for shock value.

Uber

I have Shadow of Mordor and Forza horizon 2 Preordered, NBA 2K15 is preloaded and ready to go. So I am all set.

Lemme know how Shadow of Mordor is. I have a sinking feeling it's going to be a single cool idea simply repeated over and over ad nauseum.

Oh man. Your mom is more hardcore than you.

I'm not really a Crossed fan, but I'm still looking forward to Crossed +100 to see what Alan Moore does with it.

Yeah, Uber is a good book. While there's gore, it isn't over the top (or at least AS over the top) as Crossed.

So to take a quick break from my commitments to Rafa, I decided to watch Dredd on Netflix.
That was definitely an entertaining movie. Now I'm even more curious about the comics. I should pick up one of the collections soon.

I totally understand where you're coming from, but I think the important thing to consider here is that fifty years ago, there weren't contracts in place that sufficiently covered this kind of stuff and the ruling would have only affected cases pre-1973. Now a days it's fully understood by everyone involved that it's just the nature of doing business with a big company focused on IP creation and that's why we're seeing such a boom in the creator-owned area of comics. I think Kirby and his family had a legitimate grievance, but in today's corporation-centric landscape, it was unlikely the case could have been won.

The only way that movie could have been better is if there had been a sex scene with Dredd and he still doesn't take off the helmet.

I won't deny that; she's an oldschool punk rocker and I spend my time looking up Vaporwave on Soundcloud. I definitely check out Uber then. After playing Wolfenstein I get a kick out of Alternate WWII fiction that goes crazy with super science.

No offense, but your mom sounds hot. Don't ruin it for me by saying she's fat... just let me have my moment.

To explain my train of thought - I had been thinking about Lena Headey in Dredd thanks to Kipp's post and she is my vision of the perfect woman in that movie. Tattoos, scars, punk-esque, crazy...

I'll be in my bunk.

And kept his grimace.

Hahaha.
Oh, that reminds me! I'm so excited for Punkrockpaperscissors. Like, really, really excited.

I loved Dredd, it was such a fun movie. My comic shop was (or still is?) selling a replica Judge Dredd helmet. It was really cool but I wasn't ready to drop $350 or whatever it was.

And on-topic: I see all of you guys talking about Destiny but I check PSN and Freeza's been playing some Gust JRPG while I'm playing Arcana Heart lol
