PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

Edit: Proxy-TOTP - Buy Tearaway and Luftrausers! Don't wait for games to go on PS+, support devs!

I don't want to hang out in this thread anymore now that I've seen the wallpapers you guys use.

My expectations were met, let's say. :p

Gotta love VitaGAF.

As a vita-freak, podcast beyond is my most anticipated podcast of the week.

I get that it's not for everyone but it's a bit of fun and there's heaps of vita content every week.

I do appreciate the large amount of vita coverage, and I enjoyed it enough at first, but it feels a lot weaker to me with the new Greg and Colin + random formula they use. The third person almost always detracts from the conversation and doesn't complement the cast the way Goldfarb used to. I actively am annoyed by the "rotating chair" more often than I appreciate their presence.

Honestly Colin's strong personality and opinions got to be too much for me and Gregg called the game Dag nam roomba one too many times, podcast has not been enjoyable to me personally recently.

Is there any good Joker wallpaper for the Vita? That's what I use in my laptop, phone and computer. Some people get creeped out when they see my phone wallpaper but I don't care, really.

Just finished the first trial in Danganronpa. I am hooked...

Just wait.

Yeah, the "rotating third chair" has worn on me. And Colin is SO certain he's right about everything... I still look forward to this podcast every week. They love the Vita and sing it praises. They're entertaining and I like the format. Nuff said.

The Giant Bombcast is a great podcast for all other video games though. It seems like Dan is the only one playing his Vita.

The judgment again.

It stings

If it could make you happier, I placed my prejudice based on my taste :p.

I'm glad. Most of the time people were put off by the first chapter since it's so brain dead it's almost insulting. Everything only gets better after that.

Protip: don't try to play a little bit before sleeping. You only lose sleep that way.

Planned purchase for the month of October:
VLR+Persona 4 Ultimax from Play-asia
Sonic Racing Transformed+Wipeout 2048 from Amazon
Child of Light Vita+LoZ: A link between worlds

Will sadly get Akiba Strip 2 in November due to budget and because I'd be spendin a lot this October @_@

I'll give Giant Bombcast another shot, I used to listen to it religiously but sometimes they get so sidetracked. Like I remember one episode they talked for an hour about removing gophers from a garden. That was fine back when I was driving from Philly to Brooklyn once a week but now I don't have an hour for that hah.

Any idea how much Sherlock Holmes PS4 will be?

Oh hey, Short Peace: Ranko coming out this week. I am moderately interested in that but haven't seen it mentioned in a while.

This is likely to be the game only. It's quite short being 2-3 hours, but knowing Bamco they'll be selling it for like $15-20 =P I'd settle for $10 but I got the Game+anime compilation bluray a few weeks ago...and I need to play it already...

It's pretty terrible unless you're a diehard Suda fan

Try more like 1 hour including cutscenes

The Namco Museums on PS1 are held in high regard, pretty sure. Probably will get all of them eventually, it's quite a library of games. Dig Dug II is the only notable omission off the top of my head if you compare the assortment to later iterations of NM.

I've already watched the four anime short film parts (unless there is more that I don't know about) so I would mostly be interested in the game, though as you said the price will likely be wrong. Only ever seen very short segments of the game but I like games with a sense of speed and the tiny bits I saw of it interested me. Just glad to hear it still exists hah.

Isn't Gunvolt on 3DS also a short game?

Not as short as Tsukigime Ranko. Most of the stages can be completed in under 2 minutes and there's only 10 of them.

The trailers and promo material they showed for the game is also quite deceptive if you were hoping to at least get an interesting story/setting with great character design by Kozaki Yusuke (his talents are wasted on Suda games). The actual game is pretty much a gag/Suda drivel similar to those cutscenes in Katamari Damacy.

Is the Namco Museum in english or one of those japanese isos? I googled it and it should have many games that I would like, Xevious for an example.

Decided now would be a good time to get back into Ys and started Celceta.
Yeah graphics are nice but you can tell they leave much to be desired, and that shadow quality!

Only 15ish minutes in and I'm liking Duren, especially how he politely wanted to leave Adol alone after he became amnesiac from entering the magic forest. Dude knows the trope flags.

Podcast beyond have changed a lot lately, but it's pretty short and a good distraction.

The thing I like the most with GB is that it is so long.

My three favourite podcasts though is gamespot gameplay (unsure if it's canceled though) and it's quizzes, and the second one is idle thumbs, because they sometimes talk about how things work in games from a design or technical point of view.

Last but not least I really think that the Vita cast keeps on getting better and better. You can tell that the hosts are happy amateurs, but to me that creates a great contrast to every other podcast I listen to and the content is always good and informative.

I find both the escapist and joystiq ok.

Was listning to gamers with jobs before but all they talk about now is all the cool and new IOS apps and I find that pretty boring.

Was also listning to PSN stores but stopped because it did no longer feel like they was enjoying what they were doing.

Fake edit: how come that food is an equally big subject as games in almost every gaming podcast?

Thanks man, I appreciate the love. :)

Vita cast? Didn't even know such a thing existed, subscribed and will give it a listen during my run tomorrow (ugh, 5 miles, I hate saturday runs). I should really check out the Vita Lounge more often, seems like lots of good stuff going on there.

I didn't even know there is a Vita love on podcast. Now I'm curious what they talk about the. I always feel like when it come to the Vita, there is little you can talk about it in public.

It's a bunch of stuff.

We talk about games we're playing, reviews and such going up on the site, the store releases each week, do a recap of the major news points, some talking points and listener mail, a recommendation for a good game, DLC, or other Vita goodies to buy and sometimes special guests.

It releases weekly and this week is episode #44. :)

There are more than 500 vita games...

Browsing GAF for a long time made me believe you can't bring the Vita up without people going in bashing it.

Cool. Will definitely checking it out. I think the releasing list each week is pretty useful, seeing Sony does very little promoting Vita games outside of their blog.

Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!!!! All of the PS1 Namco Museums at the same time?!?!?! I need to get me a $50 card STAT!! :O

EDIT: A-and Powered Up to?! I'm dead, aren't I? Is it heaven? Where's my 128 GB card?!

RE-EDIT: So I just got revived and it might be a typo from Capcom-Unity. Makes sense for the living, eh.

EDIT: What typo, mind linking to it? Powered-up is on JP PSN and I've been waiting for a long time for them to get the US/EU ver. released

I'm just basing my thoughs on what Takao and Imouto said. I mean, it IS too good to be true, and the western branches of SCE aren't handled the best way, which makes the game's inclusion being a typo on the list more plausible (like Brave Story being on the PSTV NA list. Seriously?). I'm just de-hyping myself a bit and bracing for the worst, keeping a speck of the hope I had just a few minutes ago)

Speaking of hope, I just finished DR2's 2nd chapter. And the trials are definetly longer than in DR1. Case in point:

Me: "Well, it's 10:00 PM, I'll just finish the trial before going to bed. Plenty of time!"
...

Six hours later, and here I am, finally putting my Vita to rest and ranting about SCEA&E before going to bed. Good stuff.

Here is my layout:

I have a inner self debate about what to do with the many digital only indie games that I bought and I did not enjoyed so much to keep in my memory card for ever. I paid for them so only delete them would fell wrong, don't you think?
