New Driveclub gameplay

I have confidence in PD's lighting
but the trees...

I agree, great variety and they're so dense and detailed. There was even a video from the beta with the light rays filtering through it.

And the AI and the engine sounds, tire sounds, license tests, multiple versions of not just the same car but the same model with nothing more than a slightly different racing livery to distinguish the difference. Fuck, GT used to be great but I've been so disappointed with the series and all the empty promises that I'm one game away from swearing it off completely.

PS4 is stronger console though. So, why not?
Because they are completely different games.

You could say in hypothetical theory land that PS4 would have better IQ on the game brought up in the conversation because of the power difference, but it does not translate across different games.

More from our Latino friends. This time it's a race. With the amount of compression, don't watch it for the graphics. But you can see some interesting encounters with AI. Also he maintains quite a good lead throughout the race. AI gets closer when he makes mistakes, but never really manages to catch up.

Also, this track is power line paradise. Still seeing solid lines!

Mini GP - love the sound of that.

Found longer version with more races.

Very clean, virtually jaggyless.

How is it possible to downscale Driveclub? I don't get it. I mean, I understand the process of playing a PC game at a higher resolution but displaying it at a lower one to eliminate jaggies but on a console? How is that physically possible? Did the devs make these videos?

I think we can rest for now with the "rubber banding" talk.

All drivers have the same vehicle in this race, and as you mention only catch up when rhe player makes mistakes.

In other races, there are cars a lot faster than yours so if you can't beat them with skill you have to come back later when you've unlocked a higher ranked car.

It's good to finally be seeing some events in the game, has there been any mention of how many events there are in the main game? Are things like time of day and weather (later) pre-set or can we choose them? I'm hoping that we can't choose them when playing through the events for the first time.

There's 50 campaign tour events. 176 more will come in the season pass.

They said you'd be able to define the weather conditions to your liking, but I have the impression it doesn't apply to the tour events.

Do you have to preorder in order to get the $49.99 PSN price, or will I be able to get the PS+ edition, and then upgrade for the discounted price later?

I found an article from IGN in May that said that's the plan, but I couldn't find anything more recent that confirmed this to be true.

Edit: Shit, sorry, didn't read what you wrote properly! Yes, you can still do that - you don't have to preorder to get that price :)

I think it's less downsampling, and more of them cherry picking the best shots with the less aliasing they can find.

And even if there still is aliasing in the game, I don't really mind that much seeing that they are doing so much under the hood. What I'm hoping is that this game be as fun as Ridge Racer Type 4 has in the past. That's all I ask.

Lego Hobbit and The Lego Movie are both downsampled to 1080p from higher resolution on PS4.
I really, really doubt that this is, though.

Thanks, I knew about the season pass events. I'll be ordering that as soon as I can, I've already upgraded the Plus version of the game.

It looks like you can't in the events to me. I hope you can't, at least until you've won all the stars in that event or something like that.

Games are developed on PC. From my little time spend in cryengine I know you can choose a platform target to render to. So if am not wrong in saying when it's downsampled it would be rendered on the PC via the game engine rather than on a devkit PS4?
