New Driveclub gameplay

it's going to be huge imo. The best looking racers always push consoles and units. Once the TV spots hit, it will explode.

Interesting point. Reminds me of my close friend who bought forza as soon as I gifted him an xbox one. He doesn't do sim racers at all. He was like "but i needed the shiny cars on my console!"

The PS Plus version can just as easily be seen as a negative than a positive in terms of the potential sales of the game.

Some people can very well get their fill from that version alone.

Easy debugging, faster to get to a working prototype, needing less development kits, allowing more people to preview assets and how they are displayed in the game, faster iteration in design of levels and items, etc... There are upsides in having a PC engine/renderer to develop with alongside the native one for the target platform.
Good point. I should have been more specific about the specifics scenario. (Why a full SCE subsidiary, hardware pushing title at this stage in development would have a maintained a PC target alongside the actual commercial target platform.)

You are right it isn't gameplay. I don't think anyone was suggesting it was. That bit is from the trailers segment of the b-roll, hence it immediately cuts to an exterior view of the car.
I do think that posting a clip that has a very similar to gameplay camera perspective posted in a thread titled "New Driveclub gameplay" without commentary is suggesting it is gameplay.

This game just seems to look better with every new piece of media released, once the weather comes along it's going to be amazing. Really hope it does well enough to secure Evo another game with Sony. A follow up or something like a Motorstorm on this engine please.

"It's beautiful to behold, Evo really nailed the lighting, environments and the car models and everything handles very well. It really is graphically impressive and the gameplay is superb but it still feels last gen, it's not doing anything new that makes it feel like it's a "next gen" racing experience."
7.7/10

Q1. How many people won't buy the game after playing the PS+ version, but would have if it wasn't available?
Q2. How many people will buy the game after playing the PS+ version, but wouldn't have if it wasn't available?

I'm pretty sure sales from Q2 > sales from Q1 if the game's good.

Its a wild card.
Yeah it's an interesting concept for sure I think if the community grabs people though they'll have a high chance of upgradeing I mean that's what happened for me with Warhawk friends pushed me to get the full version.

I think a lot of it will come down to how strong the club and social aspects end up being in the final game. Which they seem to be from what we've seen so far.

I think it will sell very well, and I also think Sony will keep it on PS+ for longer than a month. People will try the PS+ version and then upgrade which means a hell of a lot of sales are likely to be digital. It will be a slow burner but a successful game.

I assumed the playstation plus version was being treated almost as its own game. Meaning it will always be on PS+ until the full game is added to PS+ down the road. Assuming is usually dangerous though, it leads to assumptions.

Nah, I dont think so, I know you said almost but I still think its treated more like a demo since its only ca 1/5 of the full game and there will be 2 other new PS+ games.

I'm hoping the incredible low (EU) price (that is hopefully displayed somewhere in the PS+ edition) will sell alot of copies.

I was going to let the downsampled thing sit and wait it out, since the game is so close to release, but there are couple of things that are bugging me.

I think Rushy already confirmed that he does not know who produced these videos. So, these are produced by third party. A third party (website?) who does not have any vested interested in the commercial performance of this game apparently produced supersampled videos (which cannot be easy for third party to do for a console game) and proceeded to post compressed version on the youtube! Where is the logic in that?

It's not a problem, obviously, it's just the expectation that you're going to have more than a sliver of your car in the mirror that seems odd to me. Certainly not worth all the pixel peeping investigation that went on for a page or more here. To each their own, I guess.

Agreed. I think it is a way too much what is showing in the mirror on his own car. Maybe it is adjustable or maybe it's because it's indeed a part from a trailer. Anyway why making a mirror look different in the trailer, when we have plenty of gameplay where the mirror does not show your own car? Well, let's wait and see.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I've looked around but not found any info.
I would prefer normally to buy the physical media instead of a download.
I see that If I was to buy the PSN upgrade I get some bonus cars, and a Fame Points multiplier. If I was to buy a physical copy, would I get these bonus items as well?

If you preorder, yes

I have a feeling the PS+ version will give players just enough to know if they want more.

They should be very mean and have videos of the other tracks inside the PS+ version to wet peoples appetites even more.

Then you basically get a new game when the weather update hits with whatever else they add. I just hope there is replays. I used to sit back and gawk at GT replays after every race just because it looked so damn good. Will be depressing not being able to see my car from various angles and gawk at the environment after a race.

There must be a way to turn off track reset, it's horrible. Hopefully they'll patch it in if enough people make noise.

Facing backwards, stationary, against the side rail then yeah, I could understand it but facing forwards at 90mph after you got pushed to the side? Nah, mate.

I just realized something...

Aren't players online going to push you off to the side purposely just to get you to reset? Hopefully it's a little different online. You should just slow down if you go offroad, which is punishment enough.

How's the marketing for this game in the US, I don't have cable so I have no clue. I hope they are running ads

There's supposed to be a TV spot, unless it was that European ad.

I'm pretty sure he meant he doesn't know who the Spanish dude is that made the YouTube video.

It is from official b-roll footage. Someone at Evo made it, or someone at Sony made it with footage Evo gave them.

It'll be interesting to see how much marketing Sony does for exclusives like driveclub given how successful they've been selling the ps4.

Off screen but I'm not seeing a hint of jaggies anywhere in any of these videos. Putting more weight behind the #notdownsampled movement.

Where are my cracked windows though?

Having played the demo at EGX this weekend I can't say that jaggies were a particular issue. The IQ for this game is pretty ridiculous and I love it!

People are just silly. There's no conspiracy here. All of Evolution's trailers/b-roll videos for DriveClub have been downsampled/rendered in sightly higher quality.

Your claim makes no sense. We've seen plenty of b-roll footage over the past 12 months. Remember the videos when people were complaining about the aliasing on the back of the car?
DC_Timelapse_Chile_Audi_R8_ProRes3.gif

Remember the official videos from Sony that gave the location, res/framerate, etc at the beginning? Everyone was talking about the jagged powerlines. You can see the improvements in the beta version and in the latest retail build Youtube videos the jagged powerlines are fixed.

They never used "downsampled" b-roll videos. You're sounding like famousmort when he made that claim about the Driveclub dev or IGN/Neil "forced out". Separate your opinion from the facts if you can't provide evidence.

Every fuckin time i say i'll get used to it but this game keeps blowing me away!
Not long now i can't wait to challange GAF Clubs with my private club :D

Do we know if the discount price for PS+ members will remain the same after the game is out or is it only pre-order? I want to try the PS+ version first before buying. Also, could someone direct me to a thread or link with the single player features of the game as I am badly uninformed?

It's an upgrade price, not a pre-order price. So yeah, try out the PS+ version first. You're safe.

That gif is not an example of b-roll footage. It was direct feed gameplay.

This is b-roll footage:

I used to have this in high quality, from sony's E3 press site from way back when. You'll just have to believe me when I tell you that the image quality was perfect in that video.
