New Driveclub gameplay

super agressive/unfair (especially later on), the penalty system also deosnt help things. the 2 people didnt go into much more detail (embargo and all), but this seems to be a big problem according to them.

Sounds good to me. Motorstorm is the only game last gen that made me want to throw my controller at the television one minute and then shake my fist in celebration the other. The penalty system might get on my nerves though.

I wonder if this is a case of them being unfair or if it's a case of actual competitive AI in a racing game catching people off guard.

How can be bad an aggressive AI in a car game?
Well it could be that they are so aggressive that they take you out and disregard their own placement in the race, which is not what drivers with individual goals would do.

Now if they do some Senna shit where they crash you because they just have to guarantee that you don't place then that is highlevel gangstah style.

disclaimer: i have the game on pre-order since june last year and still look forward to it.

Thanks for the insight. Have you heard any impressions from reviewers? (good or bad)

Oh great, so it's likely to get docked points from some reviewers for being too hard.

nope. the embargo seems super strict. there was apreview evvent weeks ago, and they cant even talk about that till release day.

They can't even talk about it, except to criticize the AI?

Seems like a bad way to break an embargo. They should either go for it or not; posting incomplete information is a bit of a bummer.

Oh right, if you see someone derailing in here or other threads about the game (or any game really) and I don't see it right away... please send me a PM.

hey rushy: is there a chance for a later patch regarding the enemy drivers ai? seems to be the biggest issue so far with the people i talked to (that played it for review).

Hope it's not like the Drivatar - where the AI just runs you off the road.

Hey, he was just returning the favor.

its the usual stuff and i dont mind it. every plus member can grab the plus version on launch day and see/play it firsthand.
i was just hoping there might/could be a patch similiar to motorstorm 3 (optional easy mode).

If you feel the difficulty is a barrier, then feel free to tweet Rushy when the game is out.

If you change the Drivatar difficulty up, it changes how well-behaved the AI is. The Inside Sim Racing review for H2 basically said it was the best AI system the reviewer had ever encountered. Which bodes will in general for the genre. We're past the point of AI systems having to have aggressive racing amount to straight-up dirty racing.

Speaking of aggressive opponents, do we know if there's anything to prevent things like massive first corner pile ups?

You know what idiots are like in racing games.

Yeah I meant more specifically Forza 5 where the AI would just intentionally try to spin you out, I haven't played Horizon 2 yet (Will be soon! Probably the 360 version though).

I'm most interested in reviews to see what the single player content might be like. With a name like DriveClub, it's obvious where their focus is, but I'd still like a new racer as eye candy and audio candy that I can just mess around with. Curious how many avenues it'll give me to do just that.

By single player do you mean playing alone and not with a club?

I'm guessing even if you play it alone you can be in a club of 1.

The gameplay of Rushy playing from the Milano event seemed to be from the higher level racing, and nothing about the AI comes across as being unfair

This is some really exciting gameplay. That speed, man.

Is that the final build? I mean, there is snow... I'm guessing that snow effect is in the launch game, but rain is not?

Also, are those roads icey? I'm assuming not?

Also, one thing that I have always noticed with puddles, is that there are no splashes when vehicles go through them. It is the *one* thing that is small, but noticeable to me. I wonder if the final build has added them in, and I often wonder if it's difficult considering how varied the puddles are, depending on the rain/environment.

There was a stream that went over the SP menu content. Looks to be the standard stuff you'd expect to see, but in a Gamekult thread, they said the SP consisted of three modes: racing, time trial, and drift challenges.

I am not sure how accurate any of that is

Weather effects, snow and rain, are post-launch and Rushy said we'll find out more soon after the launch.

It's far from the final build. Both snow and rain are coming in December, so it obviously isn't the final build

Ermahgerd, if that's the actual photo mode showing at the 8:40 mark, I am never going to finish a damn race.
Edit: yup he said "and thats photo mode". Awesomeness

Yup. Also, photo mode is coming "soon after launch". So we don't have to wait till December. #GAFCLUB is going to suck since I'd be doing that too. Hopefully the rest of our team keeps their eyes on the road so you and I can finish last :D

Probably answered somewhere, but can we change the third person camera in the settings? I'm not entirely sold on how it's positioned behind the car.

Not that it matters completely since I mostly play bumper view, but it would be cool if we can.
