Assassin's Creed "Parity": Unity is 900p/30fps on both PS4 & Xbox One

I guess this is as good a reason to not buy the game as any.
 
One thing I love about the gaming community is the ability to raise hell about small issues. Raise hell Neogaf, do it. I don't want none of that aliasing. It's an open world game, those distant objects on PS4 are going to look awful and it's thanks to bloody parity.
 
Guarantee there will be some IQ or performance advantages on PS4 even if the official PR line is "parity".

And that's fine. There are probably legit reasons they can't get this running at 1080p on PS4 as well as they wanted.

Wouldn't be surprised if the PS4 was actually locked at 30fps and the Xbox One dropped here and there.
 
The PC version of AC:Unity is done by Ubisoft Kiev...

Even for Watch Dogs that is considered badly optimized I was having better performance than on consoles and I finished the game without my pc bursting into flames :D

I expect the usual no SLI profile on day one, etc.. but it ain't that bad.
 
Come again? I only own a PS4 and PC, so not sure what you are implying here. As it stands, PS4 is getting more sales on games that have better versions yes? Perhaps they want to avoid that.

Your point was ridiculous. The PS4 version is slightly better, therefore I won't buy the game for my Xbox One. That's basically what you implied happens when games don't have parity between versions. It doesn't. People just buy the game for the console they own, or the better version if they own both.

I genuinely believe that once devs really move away from cross gen games that even more and more games won't be 1080p on ps4. It's going to be tough fir a lot of people
 
Man, the posts saying they'll go PC. People, if graphics mattered so much to you in the first place, why play on console at all? Also, saying "Fuck you Ubisoft" and then buying the game on PC? I don't think you understand what protesting is.

Occam's razor leads us to MS literally paying them money to technically gut the PS4 version, to make the PS4 version artificially worse for PS4 users. There is no other motive or reason I can think of.
And Destiny? What was the reason for the near-parity there?
 
stop debates? that's the reason? they can't figure out that something like that will trigger even more outrage (esp. with that reason)? sometimes it makes me wonder what all those marketing guys at the big companys are doing.
 
How could they have possibly thought this was a good idea, especially since Ubi gets so much shit for downgrades and technical performance?

Mentioning being CPU bound is also hilarious since CPU has no bearing on framerate.
 
The Xbox One is now literally holding the PS4 back.

Funny how that wasn't an issue when the PS3 was the harder system to develop for.
 
Lolbisoft. Wow. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the piles of money MS is throwing your way in what will most likely be a vain effort to make sure the One version sells better.
 
Wow this is pretty shitty move and I don't even own a PS4 yet. I don't even understand what came over them to admit that they forced parity with this game. I don't think most XB1 owners even care if the game is 900P or not anyway so what's the point of holding the PS4 version back? They better patch it in or something like last time.

If a console CAN handle a better version it SHOULD come to be. Stop worrying about pissing off consumers that might get a slightly worse version of the game. This parity nonsense is insane...

Why are people blaming Microsoft? I don't think it was their decision. There not the developers or creators of the game. Ubisoft announced it.

As far as the resolution, this is not a surprise. I don't know why many of you are shocked. Even articles coming out of Forbes, CNET, etc., in 2013 commented multiplatform developers are likely going to aim for parity between the two.

Differences between the two even in resolution side by side in actuality while meaningful is little. I understand people may want a console with a better resolution but imo owning both, the differences are so small I'm starting to realize features are becoming more important for me.
 
I chuckle over two observations.

1) Are we really surprised that a company that churns out these games like clockwork to the point where all of their games end up feeling the same would decide to go for "parity" to make it even easier on themselves to churn out these games? I'm really not surprised.

2) Hey PS4 owners, do you feel that little twitch in your eye? That's the feeling that you get when you begin to believe that developers aren't using the tech in your machine to its fullest. Now you get a tiny, tiny taste of what PC gamers have been feeling for many, many years now. Except multiply that by 100. =)
 
Wow Ubisoft doesn't give a shit. I love the quote "to avoid all the debates and stuff", what is there to debate? What's wrong with releasing on one platform at 1080p and settling wherever you have to settle on the other?

It's Ubisoft basically saying- of course the PS4 version could run at a higher resolution but we don't want to hear anymore shit from Xbone owners.
 
Maybe dramatic but pre order cancelled. I cant support this practice.

So many upcoming games so this gives a good excuse to execute Ass Creed.

Better not happen with Far Cry 4

I don't know anything about the technology and I'm not even that technical a person. If Bungie said they artificially rolled back the PS4 version to keep parity with XB1, I'd have to imagine they were paid to do so. There's no other motive for nerfing your game.
 
Question:

Did this ever happen last gen? PS3 versions of multiplats were almost always worse than 360. Did any dev force parity?
 
Well now I know I'm not getting this. Even if the game is good and even if 900p looks ok (but still noticeably worse than 1080p), I can't support this practice.
 
PC: 900p/30FPS hardlock for parity.

This has to be the MOST hilarious thing I've witnessed in the last few years in gaming. Really, it's hard to top. Not that they are doing that, that's ok. But that they are dumb enough to flat out make a statement about it, pointing out that they wanted to get rid of discussions. Hilarious.
