Alien Isolation PC Performance thread

Running the game with in game settings maxed out. Runs really smooth with my 770+ i7 920. Looks pretty great too.

SOOOOO on the subject of Oculus Rift support, modders are already diving into the game and finding bits and pieces of the original Oculus Rift support still in there.

If an official patch doesn't come, perhaps a mod will soon enough.

Awesome! Can't wait to shit pants.

My specs:

Windows 7 64 bit
amd 1090T X6 3.2 Ghz Black cpu
Asus m4a89gtd pro/usb3 motherboard
16 gigs ddr3 system ram
6 terabytes h/d storage
2 nvidia 560's in hacked sli mode 2 - gigs each ddr5 video ram
on board realtek audio
1000 watt cooler master power supply
cooler master system case

game runs perfect so far at 60 fps.

4770K
8GB DDR3
SSD
R9 270X

Runs at steady 60 with everything at max. Like I said earlier the game has absolute shit AA and most lighting is baked so I can't say I'm surprised this game runs so well.

i7 and a 780, looks like 4k at 60fps could be doable with a little tinkering. Not bad at all, after how badly Shadow of Mordor ran (crash to desktop all the time) it'll be nice to play something a little more stable.
Off topic but I have an i7 and 780 and I played all the way through. Mordor last week with settings maxed except the texture pack. I never had any crashes or frame drops in 30+ hours start to finish.

I haven't tried this, but using nvidia inspector, I wonder if you could force some of the
aa settings on, or maybe edit some of the configuration files?

So there are bunches of little bugs using VorpX to play this game that makes a full, complete playthrough not possible. First of which is that any terminal computer screen that triggers an animation where it fills the entire screen is unsuable. Using them kills the display, and it never returns. You have to reload the game, and doing that usually kills your headtracking too. Funnily enough, the shower at the very beginning of the game does the same thing.

However, truthfully, if you're playing this game with experimental VR, all you're really looking for is a chance to be scared shitless by the alien, not take in the story or anything.

The steam controller actually works well with this game in the default, unoptimized legacy mode. I guess because it's a slow game in general, the imprecision of this mode isn't a huge deal.

SMAA T2X only works with single GPU for me. Assuming it is not SLI compatible option. Suck as it cleans up the jaggies better than T1X...

That means T1x is not T1x but rather just 1x.

The temporal portion of T2x si why it does not workin SLI (it could, but that means they would have to specially code it, they did not).

Not played much just a bit of the Crew Expendable DLC (to test out settings etc) and I'm getting 120fps with everything on Ultra, 75 FoV, no film grain.

GTX 780 3GB
i5 4670k 3.4 GHz
16GB RAM
playing at 1680x1050

You have a 780 3GB to play at 1680x1050? Phenomenal.

Anyone playing on a 6870?? If so, how goes it?

I came here with the same question earlier, but I saw that there was no response, so I just decided to go for it myself.

I have it set to medium, from the get-go, and it worked flawlessly for the 1.5 hours I've played so far. Looks gorgeous, running smooth, with no issues to report.

Hmm..Full Dynamic Range Audio -- I'm gonna have to test that out tonight. Horror games need all they can get in the sound department, as F.E.A.R. happily showed us.

That's on a 4790k @4.4 and a 980 @1516/1960 also on a ROG Swift so that's why I'm not bothered about the lowish fps at that high a downsample.

Some of the settings there I can't seem to change in game like "Streaming Texture Heap Size", "Streaming Model Heap Size", "Multithreaded Shadow Rendering" and also in the benchmark text file it has reference of 4096 "ShadowMapResolution" but the max ingame setting is 2048.

The game runs beautifully for me, the cutscenes on the other hand stutter like crazy. Really immersion breaking and once again makes me wish that developers would do everything in engine.

Has anyone tried 3dvision? How is it?

Awful by default with horrible rendering errors all over the ship, but I used Nvidia Inspector to add the exe to the Sniper Elite 3 profile (and duplicated all the Alien Isolation SLI bits, etc) and then was able to use the reprojection method (I think they call it compatibility mode) that Battlefield 4, Bioshock Infinite and Sniper Elite 3 use.

It has all the downsides of reprojection (lots of blurs in the 'gaps' where reprojection is happening), but other than that works great. Since it's a darker game, you often don't notice the reprojection artifacts, and if you have played any other game in compatibility mode and didn't mind it, you know what to expect here.

One other caveat, if your display is prone to ghosting, the graphics in this game are espescially sensitive to that issue (as is Doom 3, the Dead Space games, anything dark but with lots of small areas of brightness on the screen).

I played through Crew Expendable on hard last night, from start to finish, all in 3D and the 3D definitely added to the experience. When the alien gets you, it's going to be coming out of your screen. Great fun.

Got this from Guru3D. I think it should be in the OP:

You can use -benchmark as a start parameter to launch a performance test.

Also when tweaking FOV it seems to be vertical instead of horizontal and the first-person body model disappears if you go higher than 55.

EDIT: Other commands.

-benchmark
-skip_frontend
-vsync_at_30
-debug_text_enabled
-debug_text_disabled
-no_ui
-makemovie
-realtime
-stats
-disable_hdr_scale
-about
-paused
-extra_shadow_lights
-disable_exit_debug_entity
-capture_cutscene
-fixed_time_step
-noperf
-perf
-fps
-level

I'm missing TX2 in my AA settings. I get FXAA and TX1 but not 2? Running on SLI 760s. Anybody know why?

SLI disables TX2.

Huh, any reason why? I've got the room to run it at 60-fps on just one card, but is it worth it? What's worse the ghosting from TX2 or the shimmering from TX1?

The game is pretty well-optimized so you will probably get 60 fps on a single 760 card. I don't know the reason for SLI disabling TX2.

Intel Core i7-3740QM CPU @ 2.70Ghz (8 CPUs)
2 x AMD Radeon HD 7970m (4g Apx Mem per card)
16GB RAM
PC Specialist custom built laptop

Running at Ultra with all settings on max @ 1080p

So far 3 hours in its running smooth as butter, fans are normally in hyper drive for AAA titles but this seems very well optimised looks purdy as a peach without melting my fingers off.

Is the input lag normal? Vsync makes the camera a bit sluggish.

It doesn't seem too bad but it's definitely there.

More good news about vr support - its been discovered that the game loads ovrlib and starts ovrmanager at launch, indicating it at least initializes vr hardware. There is a bunch of evidence that native vr support is still in this game.

Specs:

i7 4770k OC'd to 4.6
Sapphire 7970 3GB
8GB Memory

Here's what I got:

Once it got going I didn't have a single framerate drop. Good stuff.

*sigh* so it's the same bullshit as always. I'd have switched to Nvidia if I hadn't gotten this 290 for so cheap.

I was going to point you to the AMD downsampling neogaf thread but I see you are already active there in the most recent posts. I've been relatively happy with AMD in the past but the lack of tweaking options is what ultimately made me jump ship.

Struggling with this one guys. Frame rate up 150fps but up and down like a yoyo.
Turning on the spot is silky smooth but walk forward and the game stutters badly.
Tried settings on ultra and medium right down to 900p but to no avail.

Any ideas?

FX8350 black mild oc
GTX-580 3gb palit oc edition
8 gig ram

Drivers up to date.

----Update Fraps caused the problem-----

All smooth now on ultra 1080p 80ish fps with no vsync, dof or film grain.

Yeah the in game vsync creates quite a lot of lag. I'm not noticing a lot of screen tearing with it off anyway.

i7 2600k and a GTX660 giving me on average 70fps on ultra. I have dof, grain and ca off for personal reasons.

Thanks. :)

Just for S&G's I tried the benchmark with the framerate unlocked:

Just started playing but the graphics look off to me. I'm playing at 1920x1080 but it gives me the feel of lower resolution where things are bigger. Also I'm not sure AA is even working.

Scroll down in the video options menu to see if everything is on?

It's the low FOV, it makes things look large. Everything seems very zoomed in with VR because of this, you can only get 75 degrees FOV from this game max. Ideally, for VR, you'd want somewhere around 120 degrees. But even on a monitor, the game looks tight and zoomed in because of the low FOV. I'm guessing they did that on purpose, to make it feel tight and cramped and thus more scary.

Just unlocked the game on Steam. I really hope it will run correctly on my old config.
Here it is :
i5 2,8 Ghz
4G DDR
Gtx 560 TI

Do you think it will run correctly ?
