Looks like Driveclub PS+ Edition might not be coming today

How many hours till EU PS+ gets this? Anyone know?

I don't mind the waiting
but I can't stand being ignored

they could at least inform about delay or something in PS Blog
currently there are 777 comments and not a single response

So the best guess is the PS+ version has been held back until Evolution get on top of the mp server issues.

Seems reasonable. I guess the last thing they need right now is a huge influx of new players.

The lack of communication sucks though.

It is simple guys. Driveclub just didn't pass the 75+ Metacritic score requirement for PS Plus games.

I know its actually 70+, but it was too good of a joke to pass it up. :p

Wasnt it in the demo section in the last PSN blog post?
I'd think the point was to convince people to give the full game a shot anyway. Though they DID plan on microtransactions initially as I recall, so that may've knocked it down several pegs as a priority, and maybe it'd have even been the full game if it was just "oh, and you have to grind extra hard unless you pay $60 to have normal progression!"

Wait... you need to Grind more in the PS+ version?

WTF?

Oh, no. I'm very well aware. I might not have been clear enough in my statement. I find it absolutely disappointing that Playstation has evolved so much since the PS3 but PSN is still such a clusterfuck in this manner, almost just as it was back then when it started. I don't see how anyone is defending this. Things happen, yes but they need to AT LEAST address this situation openly (and they sort of have by now).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not making phone calls or anything. I really don't care too much about this game. I already have the whole version (and it's by far nothing too special so far!) but this kind of mess has gone on for way too long. I love my PS4. I picked it over XBox One (as I could only afford one) because I liked that it was more powerful, Sony has a 1st party I usually prefer, and they had WAY better messaging leading up to release (they were better at BSing).

I just don't want them falling into old ways and have to sit here watching them get too comfortable. Sony is no angel (but MS has rubbed me the wrong way more often and in worse ways. It's a lesser of two evils thing for me but they definitely need to compete to keep things from becoming really bad for the consumers. You know, CORPORATIONS AND SUCH) and I don't like seeing that side peeking it's head out here. This particular PSN thing has been a long running problem that they really need to get a grip of and fix it ASAP.

It's really said how PSN hasn't evolved since it was came out. In fact, the store interface was the one good thing about it, and they even changed that too recently. I agree as long as they addressed the situation it would be fine.

I'm not making phone calls either as nothing can be done from a CS rep who is an an office that solely does customer support calls.

I got the X1 at launch but a PS4 in July when it was 15% off Gamestop cards. To be honest I have been pretty disappointed in the lack of great PS4 games, while Xbox had KI3 and Forza 5 day one. Infamous was alright for a few hours but I never found myself wanting to go back to it.

Both companies have done things that pissed me off. Sony's (lack of) 1st party output from 2007 and onwards for the PSP, online passes for their 1st party games for 2 years, PSP Go, etc. MS for making people buy wi-fi receivers, rechargeable battery packs, RARE, etc.

I honestly usually find that the underdog ends up being the best. Gamecube and PS3 had some incredibly high quality first party output because the company was so desperate for sales.

I'm speculating on what the original plan COULD have been. The final game scrapped microtransactions entirely so it seems more like the old concept of Shareware restored.

Okay. But it wouldnt surprise me anymore if they still have some kind of limitations in the game so that people who want that platinum trophy would buy the game to get the trophy faster or something like that.

The last time this happened with the release of a first party game, socom 4 if I remember, it killed the game before it even had a chance. This may not be quite the same, but it is damaging to the game.

This is lame. I'm really surprised that they dropped the ball on this considering they were building up the release of the PS+ edition day and date with the game since last E3.

well, with Socom 4...PSN was down for a month wasn't it? Hacker attacks?

I can't say I'm suprised they've managed to mess this up.

Sony did everything right in terms of hardware, but in terms of software, they've been fucking up a lot.

but don't Plus games usually release on Wednesdays?

even if they do, the PR team is doing a bad job communicating to those who are just asking about the status of the game.

Not in NA they don't. We get them on Tuesdays (i.e. yesterday). By the measure of when they told NA folks that they would get the game, they are now late.

Indeed and like it said, this scenario isn't quite he same. It does have an effect on momentum etc and the reviews haven't helped either. PSN should be working perfectly for the launch of games like that this. Sony's infrastructure is inadequate and they need to fix it fast.

This is f'ing ridiculous how they're handling this. At least give a reason for the delay and an ETA for when to expect it instead of just trying to quietly sweep this under the rug. Pathetic.

Well if my multiplayer was totally broken I would hold off on giving away a game client to PS plus owners until it is fixed. And some people wouldn't want to admit a fail on release day..although I don't see why a racing Dev can't fess up to it.

A friend of mine here in Taiwan got the PS plus edition on his Taiwan PSN account. He was playing it just last night. Why, oh why, is this so inconsistent?

Sony should act fast. They promoted the PS+ version a whole fucking year. Of Course everyone is expecting now this game to be ready Day 1. it is kinda insane that they now go silent. Have the PR departments still nothing learned ?

Very poor job Sony, it's not like you guys didn't have time. If the PS+ version has to be released in a month it's fine but just say it. Keeping people in the dark is the worst and I would have thought they would know about this very basic concept already.

hoping its available when I wake up, got a day off. Looking forward to playing it. Reading all the complaints is getting old.

i can´t wait anymore

Man, hyping it up for a year and then just mess it all up like that. Must say, brilliant strategy to catch the impatient ones. Like me.
Then again I have been patient for ONE effing year goddamnit. I really don't want to reward them for their fuckups, but if the EU PS+ Version doesn't come live today, I can't promise not to cave in.
On the other hand all the servers for the real game are down anyway. But I have so much time today and was really looking forward to all of this.
God Sony, you always fail in just the worst moments. I guess it's called unreliability and I've had enough by now.

Welp. Day 2 of waiting. I guess they spent most of their time on graphics and sound and not on the online code and server performance tests. One year delay, I guess I can wait a few more days but BestBuy's shipping screwups on my FH2 is making me antsy for a great racing game title. Can't wait to compare the two. On to refreshing their facebook page ...

and I believe the Hong Kong version has also been out for a bit.

so why is it hard for some to accept that this is actually SCEA's issue, and not EVO?

won't be surprised if EU's version is out on time.

What? Is that 70 requirement a real thing? This is the first time I ever heard about it. What's your source? You mean Sony doesn't include games for free on PS+ unless they pass a score on Metacritic?

Oh, hey October 7th. PS+ version of Driveclub comes out this afternoon according to Sony on some Sony forum. No time, but "in the afternoon!" Cool! I'll download it after work.

Oh, shit. I woke up in the middle of the night - couldn't download it earlier, maybe it's up now!

Nope!

Fuck this game.

This games messaging has been terrible since its launch , from the delay to the promise of high res vids which never came , to the soony memes and now this delay .

They really need to fire their pr ppl.

Time to engineer some revenge. You seem like the guy to talk to about that.

Hi Everyone,

With DRIVECLUB, we are dedicated to delivering a dynamic and socially connected racing game that everyone can enjoy, and along the way we're facing new challenges which we haven’t encountered as a development team before. We are seeing a lot of activity and new social behaviours right now, but unfortunately this is pushing the servers to their absolute limits.

We are sorry if you are having a hard time getting online as we know many of you are. Please be aware that the game will automatically keep trying to connect you. Once you're online, you should have no further problems during your session.

Everyone at the studio is now working hard to get new updates ready for the game servers to improve connectivity. We will be rolling out these updates day by day and will keep you informed.

In order to help all DRIVECLUB players who have the game already, we're temporarily holding back the PS Plus Edition and the My DRIVECLUB app to ease the load and traffic to the servers. This should give players a better chance of connecting to the game servers and, once the servers are operating well, we’ll be sure to let you know when the PS Plus Edition and My DRIVECLUB app will be available to download.

To our PS Plus fans, we're sorry you're having to wait longer to play, but we want to ensure that when you come on board, you get the best experience possible. Rest assured, if you've pre-ordered the full game upgrade from the PS Plus Edition, you will still get the full version of DRIVECLUB digitally, and if you can't get online you'll be able to get started offline like everybody else with single player mode as you start your DRIVECLUB tour. You’ll still be able to earn fame, unlock cars and get to grips with all of the options for playing and creating your own events and challenges - and everything you do will be synchronised with the servers when you do get connected, so you can set-up a bunch of challenges to send out to your friends as soon as you are able to join each other online.

We fully appreciate how frustrating this is for everyone. We want you to get online with your club because racing, challenging and having fun together is what the game is all about. We know that racing with your friends online is what you’ve been waiting for and we are doing everything we can to deliver that experience to you as soon as possible.

Sorry again for the difficult start. We’ll keep you regularly updated on our progress as we work round the clock to improve connectivity. We want everyone to know what's happening so please tag your DRIVECLUB friends or SHARE this message to let them know.

Oh dear, guessing the PS Plus version is not live in the U.S still then. Looks like it'll be delayed in Europe and the UK too.

This should have been released before the store update instead of keeping everyone in the dark all day.

WOW... holding back... because of server issues? really......... i really dont see the server issue being the main point for holding back on it...Since in the post its clearly written that you can even play the game being offline.... so really dont see the point where it is connected with the server issues....
