At this point I want to drive my foot into the club that is Sony's ass!
They read the GAF thread about using it as a demo.
I'd think the point was to convince people to give the full game a shot anyway. Though they DID plan on microtransactions initially as I recall, so that may've knocked it down several pegs as a priority, and maybe it'd have even been the full game if it was just "oh, and you have to grind extra hard unless you pay $60 to have normal progression!"Wasnt it in the demo section in the last PSN blog post?

Oh, no. I'm very well aware. I might not have been clear enough in my statement. I find it absolutely disappointing that Playstation has evolved so much since the PS3 but PSN is still such a clusterfuck in this manner, almost just as it was back then when it started. I don't see how anyone is defending this. Things happen, yes but they need to AT LEAST address this situation openly (and they sort of have by now).
Don't get me wrong, I'm not making phone calls or anything. I really don't care too much about this game. I already have the whole version (and it's by far nothing too special so far!) but this kind of mess has gone on for way too long. I love my PS4. I picked it over XBox One (as I could only afford one) because I liked that it was more powerful, Sony has a 1st party I usually prefer, and they had WAY better messaging leading up to release (they were better at BSing).
I just don't want them falling into old ways and have to sit here watching them get too comfortable. Sony is no angel (but MS has rubbed me the wrong way more often and in worse ways. It's a lesser of two evils thing for me but they definitely need to compete to keep things from becoming really bad for the consumers. You know, CORPORATIONS AND SUCH) and I don't like seeing that side peeking it's head out here. This particular PSN thing has been a long running problem that they really need to get a grip of and fix it ASAP.
I'm speculating on what the original plan COULD have been. The final game scrapped microtransactions entirely so it seems more like the old concept of Shareware restored.Wait... you need to Grind more in the PS+ version?
WTF?

The last time this happened with the release of a first party game, socom 4 if I remember, it killed the game before it even had a chance. This may not be quite the same, but it is damaging to the game.
Not in NA they don't. We get them on Tuesdays (i.e. yesterday). By the measure of when they told NA folks that they would get the game, they are now late.but don't Plus games usually release on Wednesdays?
even if they do, the PR team is doing a bad some communicating to those who are just asking about the game.
Indeed and like it said, this scenario isn't quite he same. It does have an effect on momentum etc and the reviews haven't helped either. PSN should be working perfectly for the launch of games like that this. Sony's infrastructure is inadequate and they need to fix it fast.well, with Socom 4...PSN was down for a month wasn't it? Hacker attacks?
I hope the delay in ps+ edition and mediocre reviews dont lead to layoffs at Evolution Studios...

A friend of mine here in Taiwan got the PS plus edition on his Taiwan PSN account. He was playing it just last night. Why, oh why, is this so inconsistent?
What? Is that 70 requirement a real thing? This is the first time I ever heard about it. What's your source? You mean Sony doesn't include games for free on PS+ unless they pass a score on Metacritic? It is simple guys. Driveclub just didn't pass the 75+ Metacritic score requirement for PS Plus games.
I know its actually 70+, but it was too good of a joke to pass it up.
Well the server tech lead will probably get fired
Oh, hey October 7th. PS+ version of Driveclub comes out this afternoon according to Sony on some Sony forum. No time, but "in the afternoon!" Cool! I'll download it after work.
Oh, shit. I woke up in the middle of the night - couldn't download it earlier, maybe it's up now!
Nope!
Fuck this game.
Rushy - via FacebookHi Everyone,
With DRIVECLUB, we are dedicated to delivering a dynamic and socially connected racing game that everyone can enjoy, and along the way we're facing new challenges which we haven’t encountered as a development team before. We are seeing a lot of activity and new social behaviours right now, but unfortunately this is pushing the servers to their absolute limits.
We are sorry if you are having a hard time getting online as we know many of you are. Please be aware that the game will automatically keep trying to connect you. Once you're online, you should have no further problems during your session.
Everyone at the studio is now working hard to get new updates ready for the game servers to improve connectivity. We will be rolling out these updates day by day and will keep you informed.
In order to help all DRIVECLUB players who have the game already, we're temporarily holding back the PS Plus Edition and the My DRIVECLUB app to ease the load and traffic to the servers. This should give players a better chance of connecting to the game servers and, once the servers are operating well, we’ll be sure to let you know when the PS Plus Edition and My DRIVECLUB app will be available to download.
To our PS Plus fans, we're sorry you're having to wait longer to play, but we want to ensure that when you come on board, you get the best experience possible. Rest assured, if you've pre-ordered the full game upgrade from the PS Plus Edition, you will still get the full version of DRIVECLUB digitally, and if you can't get online you'll be able to get started offline like everybody else with single player mode as you start your DRIVECLUB tour. You’ll still be able to earn fame, unlock cars and get to grips with all of the options for playing and creating your own events and challenges - and everything you do will be synchronised with the servers when you do get connected, so you can set-up a bunch of challenges to send out to your friends as soon as you are able to join each other online.
We fully appreciate how frustrating this is for everyone. We want you to get online with your club because racing, challenging and having fun together is what the game is all about. We know that racing with your friends online is what you’ve been waiting for and we are doing everything we can to deliver that experience to you as soon as possible.
Sorry again for the difficult start. We’ll keep you regularly updated on our progress as we work round the clock to improve connectivity. We want everyone to know what's happening so please tag your DRIVECLUB friends or SHARE this message to let them know.

Oh dear, guessing the PS Plus version is not live in the U.S still then. Looks like it'll be delayed in Europe and the UK too.
