Really great intro. They did a really good job establishing the cast and establishing the "7 years later" world going on. Loving all the G references. Music and battles were awesome.
One of the things I really appreciated is that the cast felt like a more mature group of characters. The main cast of GBF really did feel like middle-schoolers, and there was only so much they could do with them. A more mature cast opens up some potentially interesting narrative points, but is also just more relatable for me. I like them quite a bit.
I do have some minor complaints, though. First thing is that the ending, as badass as it was, really felt kind of stupid. The idea that
just kind of makes no sense. The physical realities of that just don't mesh, unless Build Burning is tiny, which it clearly isn't. It worked on screen, but I definitely let out sort of a groan when that happened.
A more fundamental complaint I have is that nothing about the battles feel like technology has advanced 7 years. Nothing about the models, or the capabilities of the system feels new and different. This is of course only a first episode, so they'll hopefully established some cool new gimmicks later on. One of the show's big things is the "it's seven years later" setting. If all that's used for is showing older versions of the GBF cast, it'll feel like really boring fan service to me.
All in all, it's still just a generic battle shonen wrapped up in Gundam clothing, but what it does, it does well so I can't complain too much.

They definately need to reference this shot from G Gundam at some point. It's too good to pass up!

It's much better than Build Strike.
Hopefully the animation holds up. Much harder to animate fire everywhere than a knuckle.

They chose correctly. I'll not fault G-Reco and based Tomino, but this is the one that'll make the money.

I feel a little concerned that they are being a bit derivative with respect to the previous series (even got reused music tracks even if they are good ones) so I do hope they find ways to pave their own path. A complete retread of the previous season's plot line and types of battles will sap a good deal of interest out of this one. I do hope the finally and adequately address the other dimension though. That was barely touched upon last season and it kind of pissed me off.
The massive G Gundam vibes I'm getting are sweet though. The episode on Youtube didn't have the full opening or ending but people are posting screencaps of the opening. Where did they come from?
Also, I just go the "pun" in the show's name: Gundam Build Fighters Try or Tri for 3.
Not going to lie, this is a pretty big concern of mine. I hope all three characters get equal amounts of badass moments and what not and that it doesn't devovle into theReiji Sekai solo or Naruto & Sasuske Red Oni & Blue Oni Sekai & Yuuma show.

Shes a woman in Gundam, either this will happen, or B) She will get super jealous of another girl and have a vagina war, or C) Miraculously forget how to control her machine for no real reason at all, ala the transition from Z to ZZ lol.
Or D) have a crazy moment and blame it on "Because I'm a woman"
Edit: Everytime I see Ral I laugh, not because his lines or weird appearances, but because hes 35.

Great first episode. Long as they don't fall prey to what made G Gundam fighting scenes weak this will end up a great show! Glad to have this show back

I'm pretty sure concerns come from the treatment of women from BF1, not Tomino.
Hopefully not before Rinko.
GBF S1 had a really great track record for female characters considering its Gundam roots!
