Fighting Games Weekly | Oct 6-12 | One Frame, Two Frame, Just Frame, Plus Frame

The misunderstanding in the post above me.

Basically mistakenly said that Tekken 7 has "1/4 the budget of T5" when it was the exact opposite. Good shit. That must have caused major freakouts among the Tek-heads.

Ah got cha. Yea EH shitty at reporting stuff. They are like TMZ, but even less creditability.

It was a bit of a pain but I'm all set up for that Xrd demo. I'll try and give some impressions on how it looks on a big TV and how it feels next week.

As a side bonus they got a Disgaea 5 demo up there currently.

TMZ is pretty fucking credible. How dare you compare EH to TMZ?

Now because they have money and viewers. You don't remember when TMZ first started out? $$$ changes everything.

Creditability has never been on of their core values. Mediatakeout and smoking gun is same way. Just post a bunch of random crap to get some money then once they get big they start adding a pinch of credibility because their are more viewers.

I tried out my brother's copy of smash bros. Went to training mode to test some characters out that I was interested in. Robin and Shulk were interesting to me.

If anyone is interested I went into the lab a bit, to check some stuff, and I found some interesting stuff on haggar's incoming mixup game, and I think I might of found some new tech with the character maybe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxEn-ztBKJ8&feature=youtu.be

that cr. l and mix up on the pipe. i certainly havent seen haggars do these ambiguous set ups and would be good for paradigm since he rocks the rocket.

only thing missing was Linkin Park

you uploaded a few amv's back in the day, i can tell.

its good but wouldnt vectoring influence this? ive seen people constantly jump out of strings in tournament.

Ono just posted this

You would think it was just his general tease that ends in nothing but look who favorited it. Geoff Keighley.

please be excite. we announce new dlc.

i feel like the fgc-illuminati is messaging me to drop marvel and pick up real anime

If I remember correctly, the coin drop rates for TTT2 were way down compared to Tekken 6. Still not poverty status, but this series has been on an ugly trend business-wise this generation. I wonder if TTT2 was the end of the series at one point.

Didn't Svenson all but flat out say around when he left Capcom that there was a big internal argument about a PC release of Dragon's Dogma, which ended up getting nixed. The sad thing is, if they actually did it, the game probably would have hit 2M sales. Welp, Capcpom gonna Capcpom.

Didn't VF go through the same decline with 5/FS? The problem may not be the games but the arcade life being post-peak in Japan.

This is not unusual
It is when the last few threads that have popped up in gaming are based on topics discussed to death in FGW threads (Tekken Revo model, SF5's need for change, underappreciated fighting games, PC communities for fighting games and why they're like that). All specific topics that probably don't go 2-3 FGW threads without being discussed.

The reason why there is more FG talk on the main forum than here is that we have run most topics to the ground already. How many times are we going to discuss fighting monetization models, budgets, netcodes, dead franchises, comeback mechanics, Ono's latest troll post and roster choices/tier lists? Plus games like Smash and Tekken have had their own news/main threads for discussion.

BUT WILL SUBZERO BE IN MKX???

Well... how about Challenge Mode in games? I think they're called trials in SSFIV. How do people here feel about those? Despite them not being optimal combos and harder than they need to be, I love to do them for fun. It's like a little mini-game for me and I liked that they unlocked titles in SSFIV. They also show you some of the character's possible combo routes that you can then mess around with yourself. I'm not going to throw a fit if there aren't any,
Ultra
but I genuinely enjoy them. Would be neat if they gave you more incentives for doing them.

EDIT: To clarify, not survival or time attack challenges, just combo challenges.

The BlazBlue way of doing it is much better though, being able to playback how to do the combo.
SSFIV's trials were also plagued with 1 frame links that were really impractical and not useful, it's why I hope when Ultra's trials come out they come with bnbs people actually use.

Ideally for SFV we'd have a built in online hub where people can make and share their own tutorials/upload Youtube videos to/etc. No good in-game tutorial? No problem, fans will make them using built in replay tools and stuff. This also somewhat solves the problem of unintended mechanics being discovered and the in-game tutorial/trials not showing how to do them. Just have a "Capcom Recommends" section or something in the front.

Combo challenge is for when I'm waiting on a friend to get ready, or waiting for laundry to finish.

I do enjoy them though. Too bad most of them are not practical.

I actually like the combo/trial modes. I find them kinda fun. People should stop looking at them as a tutorial to learn the game and more as a fun set of challenges to do on the side. I've always enjoyed them immensely regardless of the game (SFIV, EX, 3SOE, BB. I'm sure there are other games, but those are the ones I've experienced so far).

If people want an in-game tutorial, the original SFIV iOS had a dojo mode that taught u stuff like anti-airs, cross-ups, zoning and anti-zoning strategies. I hear VF has a pretty damn good training demo that teaches you the game as well.

Why don't we make a FGW combo video? One combo per person. Come on doods lets do this because of various reasons.

I like how KoFXIII challenges really challenged you.
It would be cool if games did something like 5 combos: Midscreen practical BnB, Corner practical BnB, Throw or Air Throw Combo, 2 Challenging Impractical Combos.

That is how I usually recommend what combos to learn to people and what I do myself. You'll need midscreen, corner and throw combos (if the game allows throw combos) and you need something stylish to break opponents with a weak mental which would either scare them or anger them resulting in more fearful or sloppier play.

FGW playing games LMAO

we also need somebody as good as ncsuDuncan to make the montage like he did for HaloGAF
What fighting games do you play actually? Not to call you out or anything, it's just this post made me realize I've seen you talk about Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101 more than any single fighting game lol

Huh, I was thinking maybe Marvel 3 too for some reason. I just knew you definitely don't like Skullgirls lol. Not interested in Smash 4?

Y'all leave Beef alone! I remember the days when it was Degen or Timedog that'd get thrown under the bus. I mostly just lurked the original SF4 and SSF4 threads then
