PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | October 2014

I'm assuming high on PS4 as there's no audience for that version in Japan. Vita version would only be a stone's throw away after that, though it could be digital only.

I would actually settle for that, begrudgingly of course, it's better than no Vita version.

More like they can't do an effortless port. That's unfortunate, but understandable. I'm not the biggest fan of Disgaea anyhow, so I'm not too broken up about it.
It's a technical limitation. They cited the Vita not being able to handle the number of sprites that they're planning to put on screen at once, which I'm assuming are going to be dynamic.

If you want beat'em-ups, get the Capcom PSP collections. They got Captain Commando.

Also, what Shoot'em-ups/Shmups do you guys have on your Vita?
ATM I got installed:
ZANAC X ZANAC
Super Star Soldier
Sonic Wings PSX Classic
Sine Mora
Flying Hamster HD

Pix the Cat ain't bad, but one needs to memorize the proper paths to get the best scores lol.
Reminds me of the Special Stages in Sonic 3 ToT

Most likely drawn by the character designer himself, Raita.

And yes, whenever he doesn't work as character designer for games and such, he draws porn. His ongoing original doujin series is very popular and even has an anime now.

So that's why I like the characters so much. Too much life on Selvaria though.

Wait didn't Raita become the artist on VC2? I don't think he was the artist on 1...and I'd recognize Raita's artstyle :V

30 australian earth dollars in the wallet...

Tearaway and the Killzone Bot Training Package incoming.

I was torn between Frozen Synapse Prime and Tearaway but I've put the latter off for too long.

Don't listen to the haters. Knytt Underground is AMAZING. You get to explore a huge map and have to solve puzzles along the way. The puzzles are clever, and moving around the map feels quick and fluid. Seriously, this is one of my top indie games.

Edit: Forgot to say. Definitely go with Knytt Underground. Only way I'd recommend PDf over it is if you're a huge music rhythm fan.

How far did you guys play?
The first impression is always bad. I played through the first chapter and a bit of the second and then deleted it from the card. Then some time after I decided to give it another go and went past the second chapters and I got hooked for two weeks, until I was sure I did everything in that game. Fucking awesome game, the platforming and the exploration are amazing.

Just keep in mind that the first two chapters are a prologue, while the third chapter is the real game. In fact, ch1-2 last less than 2 hours combined, while chapter 3 takes 15-20 hours to beat

I thought Knytt Underground was boring as shit. I gave that game way more of my time than it deserved. It's gotta get good soon, right? Wrong. Thankfully at the time the other PS Plus freebie on Vita that month was Big Sky Infinity so I still had something to entertain the shit out of me at the time.

Imo Konami is not sure of how much YGO can do on Vita, so making a PSP game is a cheap way to test the waters and to eventually fund a Vita game, if the game will sell well we'll get a full Vita game.

pretty subjective. some people prefer using the touchscreen to do the stars, some people prefer the controller. the PS3 version has issues inherent to being played through a TV, but this isn't an issue for everyone. And the Vita version is pretty low res. It looks a bit worse than Ys:MoC I'd say.
Imo there are very few Vita games that look worse than YS, people saying that YS is good looking are blinded by the love for the game

Oh Square Enix ...

Chaos Rings III Prequel Trilogy is 2.6GB on PSN. That should be all four games. Someone just didn't want to spring for the 3.3GB cart.
Did you really think that the reason was something different from Square being Square?

Pockett is reporting that there's a good chance that Geometry Wars 3 will be ported to iOS, Android and PS Vita: http://www.pockett.net/n24637_PS_Vita_Geometry_Wars3_sur_PS_Vita_iPhone_iPad_et_Android_probablement

They're also saying a super hero themed Sponge Bob game is in development for 3DS and Vita: http://www.pockett.net//n24636_Nintendo_3DS_Sponge_Bob_reviendra_sur_Nintendo_3DS_et_PS_Vita Because it's an Activision licensed game, it'll probably be poop, but it's cool to see SCE at least try to get some kid software.

Pockett probably isn't well known to most people on this forum, but I've been reading their site for a few years now. They're pretty reliable.

suddenly activision returns to the forsaken handheld
Good news if true :)

Any impressions on Knytt Underground?

Not sure if I wanna get that... Or Hatsune Miku Vita.

Great game, all atmosphere, exploration and puzzles, no combat, and YOU become better at the game, not the character.
Just be sure to arrive at the chapter 3, 3 is the real game, 1 and 2 are introductions.

I tried out the Disgaea 5 demo from the Japanese PSN. Looks so pretty.

I love good HD 2d but for some reason Disgaea graphics style and gameplay don't appeal to me at all.

Holy shit. He/she was still a junior, no?

edit

Damn, Imouto was a good kiddo :(

What the fuck. Seriously? Damn imouto, wherever you are, and if you read this, you shall be missed. Not just here, but in other threads, his input was always top notch, it really is a shame that it had to end like this. I'm glad to have met you man, keep doing what you are doing. Keep coming back, even not as a "member" you are still one of us. Vitabros aren't many, so they are for life.

Chapter 3 was where the game especially fell apart for me. At least the first two chapters had some sense of direction and were more focused. Chapter 3 was way too focused on exploration for me and I just found it so boring. Too much exploration, not enough fun gameplay challenges.

Maybe there's a ps4 hardware thread but just figured I'd ask here.

Now some of you guys may not be near your ps4 a lot throughout the day but I am. This has been happening for as long as I can remember.

Every now and then while my PS4 is off (not standby, just completely off) the fan will kick on for about a second and then turn off. It's not something that happens every day (or maybe it does and I'm not around it) but tonite it's done it twice. I haven't even played my ps4 since yesterday. Anyone ever notice this?

tldr - when ps4 is completely off the fan will turn on for a brief second and then turn off. Happens rarely.

The only thing sort of like that which I noticed is that if your PS4 is hot, the fan will not turn off no matter what you do. You can turn off the system, put it in standby, idle it, whatever - the fan will keep going until it reaches a pre-designed temperature then it stops.

Are you living in a really hot area?

It is good looking, but I get/agree that the bloom and wonky frame rate bring it down.

The Ys Celceta PSTV patch released in Japan also improved performance (greater draw distance and better framerate), but we didn't get it for some reason.

I'm still waiting the patch to play it.

Do i really need to post screens showing how many PSP games look and run better(on an inferior hardware) than YS?

It's really unbearable that YS runs almost at PSP resolution with a bad framerate and ugly bloom with those graphics and people say that looks good, but other games are destroyed for their look just because they are not YS.

In that case it's just not for you, because the freedom of exploration is exactly the focus of the game, the game doesn't tell you anything or force you to do anything, you are free to go where you want and you need to understand for yourself what to do in certain cases, i assure you that there are many hard challenges.

Really! So cool. XSEED is in talks with falmco to bring it over.

Well I found Ys Seven's graphics to be really good, and Celcta's just seems to me like Seven's but more 'smoother' on the models.

Striker 1945 Plus
Cho Aniki Zero
Aqua Kitty
Floating God HD
Last Resort (on SNK Collection Vol.1 PSP)

Booted up FFX HD on Vita. Daym. It ain't native res but I can't see a speck of aliasing. Well besides the hair.

Also fuck the new Tidus face. That lips and that eyes. ugh.

I am also getting my SRW Z3 tomorrow. Hopefully, someone still visits the OT if not then I'll be posting a lot of it here.

I have Striker 1945 but kinda got bored of it, I don't recall if I accidentally set the difficulty to high but its a really nice Shmup IMO.

...but man do I want those Thunder games T.T

I notice you don't have NG Ultimate Shooting.

It might still be there. I really had no clue what I was doing in the game lol.

Same, lol. I was so amazed at the number of units on the base and stage (and they weren't even that many) that took me a while to notice that everyone was lvl ~1000 and that some skills could burn 30% of your SP.

Game looks wonderful and seems to have some cool changes (mid-battle dialog, equipping two different weapons to have both skill types available). I'm hyped.

Make sure to keep multiple saves at the path splits if you're going for the plat. Didn't know so I had to play through twice ( ´Д`)

There isn't a difficulty option on Strikers, and it's pretty hard. I used to reach 1-5 on the arcades (it was easier overall and you begin with 3 extra lives,

And, just like you, I'm waiting (in vain) for a sale on SNK games. But now I'm buying one NGStation game per month.

lol, I'm planning on getting Gradius Collection before the promo ends if there isn't a sale/discount on anything I want.

I'm pretty active on Twitter, so follow me and if you're a GAF member I'll follow back. :)

Hey, is anyone else having a ridiculous amount of fun with Senran Kagura? Fanservice for me is just lols, but the game is actually quite enjoyable.

Still trying to figure out how the hell to unleash my Super Secret Ninja Art though, it says I've unlocked it but it won't activate.

If I like the game enough, I might just play it multiple times. I did it in Z2 to farm SP. All my guys were curb stomping everybody since I don't focus on a few mech but pretty much use all of them equally.
I hate using Fa Yuiry especially on the Methuss.

Real men don't upgrade, use pilot points, or BP. D8<

It's a crime that noone has bothered to copy SRW's UI. (Especially ones made by Banpresoft.)

It's THE best out there, hands down.

Oops yeah PP not SP. I do upgrade though haha. I just like to feel OP.

Maybe I'll try that for my first run and just run wild on my second. There will be a lot of mission failed screens though. It's tough to be a real man.
