The Nexus 4 and 5 were both unlocked if purchased through T-Mobile and Sprint (for the latter). I imagine the same will be true here.

Damn, I don't know if I want 32gb or 64gb.

I've had my 32gb Nexus 5 for a year and never even filled up half of it. Always stream music, video, etc. and send photos up to Google.

But it will be my only device (no tablet) so I want to future proof myself. Saving $50 is nice though.

no way they sold more than 500 of these with the speed they sold out. I'd guess it went up early by mistake

It's really not outside the realm of possibility that they sold everything already. A couple years ago over 6000 Apple WWDC tickets were sold in under 90 seconds, and those were $1600 a pop. Google I/O tickets sold at a similar speed at $900 each.

They must have had a small supply then. Apple even took an hour or so to sell out of the iPhone 6 this year.

There is no chance. There was no advertising of a time, it goes up, and they are gone in seconds. Either they had at most 1,000 phones or it was a mistake. They were gone immediately.

They must have made hardly any available. Even the Nexus 5 didn't go that fast, and it was far less polarizing in terms of size and price.
