it's kind of awful in the way that ps1 era action adventure games were

like controlling the camera with the shoulder buttons and stuff

but base game is still pretty good, i still like it a lot, box pushing puzzles notwithstanding

Probably doesn't bother me as much because my usual approach to sales is typically to go to the search page and do a search for all games, sorted by price, then run down the list looking for good discounts or titles that sound interesting. So this isn't really a big change for me. I also figured they're not doing anything wtih the front page because Halloween's a smaller sale. If they do this for the Winter Sale, I'll get out my torch and pitchfork and join the riot.
 
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but it looks like NBA 2K15 is having a free weekend.

It has a very unique combat system. You basically have points each turn you can spend on each unit (tanks cost more points to use than foot soldiers), which you then proceed to move in a TPS-like fashion for a limited distance (and potentially under counter fire).

The twist: you can spend points on the same unit multiple times a turn if you want to, but with diminishing returns.

The twist (mk2): you can use the same points to execute "orders", which are either battle-wide or single-unit effects (buffs/debuffs/etc.).

Outside of battles, in the campaign, you have research and unit development somewhat akin to XCOM base gameplay.

Even heartless people (shame on you, really) should absolutely play it if they enjoy strategy games, simply because it plays so differently from everything else out there. It has some balance issues, but if you don't go out of your way to exploit them that doesn't matter much -- since you can enjoy Civ:BE it really shouldn't be an issue for you ;)

Disabling Vsync is trivial at the driver level. (I don't know why you would want to though)
 
hey with valkyria chronicles coming I have renewed optimism about the final fantasy tactics ios port coming one day.

now if disgaea ever comes I'll be in srpg heaven.
